This?

  • Added direct server connection from the Friends and Squadron Members screen.

No, that's just to connect to the server they are on without going to search for the server in the server list.

Port forwarding is ISP/network related, no way for an application to control that - only modify it like port forwarding or NAT.

damn thats ass

It's controlled with the instrument selection commands.

Are there keys/buttons these can be mapped to?

There's only one instrument related action and selection only brings up camera stuff. I'd like to map to my HOTAS and not use a a radial graphic.

The only other thing I could think would be  gauge commands under systems -> devices?

Yep, that's it. Woof, a few unnecessary things there. Would be easier to have a fuel tank cycle key - or two - and a fuel pump on/off key. Having to jump through the first two sets of commands just to switch fuel tanks is a bit much.

EDIT: Didn't know the angle of the rear view mirror could be adjusted, that's neat. But also could be its own command and not nested.

EDIT2: I'm hoping this is just an introduction to the fuel system, the fuel helper disabled doesn't carry over to the next flight and with the HUD not active - how I prefer to play - its not obvious and so the inputs don't do anything. Anyway, please individual key presses - just need a fuel tank selection one way and the other way that can be mapped to HOTAS without nesting because without HUD that kind of thing doesn't work at all and I personally despise the HUD crutch.

F-80 engine keeps shutting down even w/ the auto fuel helper setting on, is this intended?  Thought it was tied to fast travel, but engine just shut down randomly after takeoff in free flight, have also had it shut off idling on runway.

First go, three minutes into a test flight and all my screens crapped out again. Blue light on the Super slow blinking, TV on its screensaver, game still running in the background but no control inputs working (the pause button on the throttle).

Given the other issues with the Super (total failure to even power on occasionally, flashing rectangles full of corruption on the screens, constant temporary disconnects) my finger is pointed at Pimax. And this thing has had barely any use compared to the old OG. Jiggling the cable *seems* to affect it but that could also be jiggling the optical unit's connections. Contact support? Yeah, I'm real enthusiastic about jumping into THAT pit of vipers.

I'm thinking Meta Quest 3 now.

Agree 100percent.  Until the fuel system gets real, mappable key binds specific to it, I'll just let the helper do the work.

That is seriously convoluted crap. We need a way to map it to a controller.

  • VR: No real improvements noticed yet. As a matter of fact, the Main Menu and Museum that used to work just fine are now a hot mess. As soon as you rotate the plane you can see each eye's image is not overlapping causing huge visual artifacts. This was not an issue before. PLEASE FIX THIS ASAP❌.
  • Regarding the graphical presets, I find it really wild that we went to EVEN FEWER options from a very limited menu that forces presets instead of individual setting controls. Moving in the WRONG DIRECTION.
  • Night time in VR is still awful, nothing has been fixed. It's a real pity because the lighting in this game has so much potential.

I know there are other fixes and improvements in the patch but I cant even get to test them with such a messy state of the game in VR. I had finally honed in my settings and now you are forcing this crap and bugs? 👎👎

Edit: can confirm the Bombers not dropping bombs bug is now working.✅

That's strange, I ran a F80 harbor strike with fuel helper enabled and the engine didn't cut out while I took off,  fast traveled, made a few attack runs on a harbor but exited after to post the harbor attack screens in this thread. Engine never cut out, didn't try with fuel helper disabled- mostly because the tests with the F51 made me not like it's current implementation.

Good to hear.  Just tried to recreate it, but didn't shutdown. Going back into career to troubleshoot some more where it first occurred.   I always had helper enabled with the issue.

New circuit ATC dialog .... dreadful ! Had a heart attack on the first take off nearly rejected !!!

EDIT:

A more plausible realistic and immersive ATC dialog would be something like this. A F86 callsign Falcon 1 on the ramp at Kimpo.

Falcon 1 in Blue , ATC in Red

After starting and ready to taxi:

"Kimpo tower Falcon 1 Taxi"

"Falcon 1 Kimpo Tower Taxi Runway Three One" .... (Game engine determines active runway based on wind.)

"Falcon 1"

(no taxing directions let the user figure it out if you must have that white director box so be it)

As Falcon 1 approaches the runway Threshold:

"Falcon 1 Ready"

"Falcon 1 Clear Take Off"

"Falcon 1"

On RTB

"Kimpo Tower Falcon 1 Inbound"

"Falcon 1 Kimpo Tower Active Runway Three  One"  (Game engine determines active runway based on wind.)

"Falcon 1"

As Falcon 1 rolls out on final

"Falcon 1 clear land check gear"

"Falcon 1"

As Falcon 1 exits the runway

"Falcon 1 taxi dispersal"

"Falcon 1"

Ok, I flew an F80 tonight without drop tanks and had no problem.  Maybe you found a bug with drop tanks.

Since installing the update I've noticed some un commanded actions.  i.e. when I press "N: to open the planning map in flight the auto leveler would activate.  Same if I hit the Q menu key.  I did not have "N" mapped to anything else, especially the auto helpers.  I even deleted all the auto helper key bindings to see if that would help.  The others I was flying with on Combat Box were also having some off key assignment issues that just started with the update.

If there had been a time/a way to make it less complicated for this update, we would have. Hopefully in the future this will change.

I am pretty disappointed. Several weeks after release and VR is still unplayable.

I can not believe, that the serious solution to force VR optimized! Clearly the wrong direction for customers.

Sure all these other updates are great and welcome, but they do not matter if you can not enjoy the game. The fundamentals must be achieved first, then add all the goodies.

I am a VR only guy and unfortunately as long as this is not solved the the game collects virtual dust. So sad! Please team, shift your focus on a proper VR experience.

Yes please. The current system for instrument controls is not at all user friendly. Adding the fuel controls to it, which are even more important, just makes it worse. Please make these commands mappable (all of them) so those features become usable. As a pilot, there is nothing more immersion-breaking than having to go through multiple layers of artificial complexity to flip a switch that my hand would be able to find blind without any conscious effort.

I specifically ran some career missions. It feels better, though it’s still far from ideal. I’m still experiencing stutter in VR when flying over the long convoy I was attacking in career mode; it feels about 50% better, offering a greater sense of better performance, but a 100% improvement is what it would take for things to be truly smooth and perfect. It’s definitely a step forward, though I need to fly more to give a definitive verdict.

Finally, the AI is attacking properly! They used bombs, then rockets, and finally machine guns! All in all, I didn't have much to do. The AI's behavior when attacking ground targets is absolutely exemplary.

I agree 100%; it’s not ideal, but better is better, and things are moving in the right direction.

Probably won't be much help to you but I've just gone back to my OG Crystal. And...so far, running with the Super's DPort cable disconnected, no TV blackscreen (don't hex meee!)...

I discovered the Super's SLAM process is not on a headset chip like it is with the OG...gee, bye bye ultra micro in-cockpit panning stutter. The Super does its SLAM on the PC CPU. CRAP!

Secondly, dialling down the render on the Super does NOT equate to an OG-like image (lower rez but good image quality). The Super, dialled down, is...can I say SH...no, ok, it's CRAP.

Thirdly, without CheekyFoveatedDLSS I was still getting low 70FPS and 95% smooth. With Cheeky, it's high 80s to 90FPS and sooo smooth, even on the deck over Seoul.

I don't know how much of the Super's dire IQ at 0.85 render is down to hardware malfunctioning but as things stand the OG is SUPERB! Oh...and still no blackscreen, so *it would appear* that even with the Super powered off its cable in the GPU's DPort was still able to screw my system. ChatGPT confirms the possibility of that (for what that's worth).

I was thinking of getting the DreamAir but now? No way in hell. Yes, the render can be dialled down but IQ goes to crap (same optical unit as my Super...crap).

I have a ticket in with Pimax but I have not a shred of doubt they'll screw me. Out of warranty even though a) I've barely used it and b) it was defective from the start. We'll see.

Thanks! Yes I was already trying different things as well as different render resolution to 85% or 75%.

What confuses me, is that IL-2GB runs smooth at 90Hz (no AA, max or ultra settings) besides being a much older, much less vr optimized engine.

Even DCS runs smooth at 90Hz with 100% render resolution, high settings and DLSS + Quad Views. And they picture is so much better then Korea.

I have plenty of experience with VR and flightsims, so it just feels as if there is much room for improvement. Maybe I was just expecting to much, because it is a brand new engine compared to DCS and GB.

I had a OG Crystal a Super UW and a Super Oled. I would never go back. The Dream Air (LH) is sooo much better!

I hear that toggling the whole screen map button in multiplayer put master arm to off position in F-80 ,no duplicate bind was found.

Just played my first Korean war F-86A Mission to test the new fuel programming for the Sabre - very happy with the outcome - thank you Korean IL-2 team, well done. The Sabre's 'in-game' fuel system is now working the same as the real Sabre fuel system with the drop tanks emptying into the front tank as it depletes its fuel.

When you arrive at 'Mig Alley' your drop tanks are just about empty, so you order the flight to drop them (you still have a lot more fuel left for combat - more than you originally had in the previous game version). The Migs then bounced your flight and you order your pilots to engage them. The dog fight begins and I was more than happy with the AI reaction now on both sides of the coin. Soon I managed to catch one Mig with a good deflection shot, though my wingman kept warning me of Migs on my tail? Soon I noticed my fuel getting low and shortly after I ran out of ammo - time to head for home, ordering the flight to do the same. The Migs don't chase you now all the way home!

I noticed my home waypoint indicated it was way back at Suwon (270kms) at 700m, this was not good as I would run out of fuel quickly flying at low altitude. I will move the 'Force complete MCU' at the home waypoint to a much higher altitude earlier waypoint (7,000m) to conserve my return fuel to get me home safely.

I will amend this single mission shortly and post it again under 'single missions' for you all to try out. Let me know how you go?

It’s a mixed bag for me. My initial observations after a couple of hours:

·        Overall VR FPS is down slightly.  However this is balanced by less fps reduction over cities or when engaging groups of ground targets, so the net effect is slightly positive.😊

·        Some interesting new smoke trails/effects 😊

·        I’ve lost the ‘High’ graphics setting. VR optimised doesn’t work well for me, so I’m down to ‘Balanced’, which looks slightly worse ☹

·        AI targets take evasive manoeuvres! This also does seem to vary a bit, which is appreciated! 😊

·        New mission types are appreciated. I seem to have more enemy aircraft in the air too 😊

·        Lots more direction from tower/ground, none of which seems to make any sense.  What the heck is ‘eureueu’? ☹ I thought red ‘berry’ was bad enough!

·        Odd effect in VR in the museum. I’ve noticed the depth perception seems fine when looking at the object from a stationary standpoint, slightly better than before if anything, but when panning round it suddenly feels like I’m looking at a small scale model. If I pan quickly there’s a disorientating effect of different views in each eye for a moment. It’s strange and hard to describe, but certainly looks weird, and is an odd change since it seemed fine before! ☹

·        I also have the AMD cloud bug (distant clouds render infront of enemy aircraft). Praying for a solution soon - it's very distracting and makes aiming harder when the enemy pas infront of a bank of distant clouds.☹
