GiftGruen Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Whow. What a listbof bugfixes and updates. Thanks !! For sure I will try out this evening! Rig - RTX5090 + i5-14600KF + Pimax Dream Air Content - Flying Circus 1-4 + IL2-BoX ( all sceneries ) + IL2-Korea
LuftManu Posted July 21 Posted July 21 I've seen a 10 to 15% improvement on my 5090 in 2D in low "load" scenarios! DLAA and DLSS 4K. That's the only metric I had recorded from the press release. Over cities and high load (bombers) It seems to be even more (maybe over 30%?) 🙂 Great work again team! Jade_Monkey Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Having a blast on career. First flight I botched the takeoff due to heavy load and rotated too early. Then the rest of the flight was buzzing over me (outside of the plane) while hanging out at the end of the runway. Sortie 2 I lost a wing top due to AAA damage + G forces. Made it all the way back and landed successfully despite everything. 3 1 AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | Nvidia RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR4 | nVME SSD | VR headset: Pimax Dream Air SLAM
Viking1 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) First mission I reduced the attack force to 12 from 20, but the armed recce was a success. Got some favor from the brass as a result, so i asked for two new aircraft and a new pilot. Both on their way. Its amazing how one burns through the ordnance and fuel with a long flight and 12 planes! Second mission a large black cat on my lap and I managed to do a donut on the runway. NO2 plowed into me.. carnage..so much for any promotions this year. If you havent noticed we now have more graphics options I"m cranking it up! I moved the guys with the most kills into my flight, and moved the guys with the most courage to flight leaders. Edited July 22 by Viking1 1
TheNappingMan Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Yeah, this Mode looks like a winner. Only 2 missions in, and I'm really liking the feel. And the fact that you can start from the Ramp in Career is a bonus. Some more tutorials on using the Radio (with the aiming circle thingy) would be nice, but I'm sure that's coming. Also, I can't remember if I've seen this reported on, but will the Career mode have an option for earlier start dates?
gord Posted July 21 Posted July 21 do you have to land to get mission completion? i usually like to land but sometimes in a rush in Great Battles career i'd quit about halfway back to base because of time constraints.
Viking1 Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) Looks like start date is determined by the regiment/aircraft you select. Some squadrons were there earlier, but also relates to aircraft type and when they were introduced. But you can choose from the map when you set up your career. No, you dont have to land to get mission completion or mission success. Edited July 21 by Viking1 1

I would get sub 40 fps, on black Friday when i was in the contrails and B29s fired. Sometimes less than 30. Now doing the same usually keep it over 60fps in VR. However on hve runway. I still get less than 40fps. (But it feels smoother)

You start at the earliest date that your unit was on the map with your chosen plane. So, for instance, you can either start with the 12th FBS in 1951 when they had F-51s or in 1953 when they were reequipped with F-86s. All that said, the earliest start date is April 1951. 2
HarryM Posted July 21 Posted July 21 2nd mission F-84 campaign, had a CTD when I RTBed and tried to end the mission. I had exited the aircraft.
LuftManu Posted July 21 Posted July 21 Im having a great time! Also, edited a few missions from career and Task editor and played it with friends! Time Skip feature WORKS in coop mode 🙂 Just changed the slots from Player and AI to coop. Seems like the "Original" player triggers a few things, but still no issues for small groups. Just before we rode our Mustangs into a CAS mission 🙂 3 Rig: RTX 5090 ASUS TUF / Ryzen 9850 X3D /Gigabyte X870E Pro X3D Motherboard / 48 GB DDR5 Teamgroup 8000 MT/s / MSI 321 URX QD-OLED 32" 4K
FuriousMeow Posted July 21 Posted July 21 (edited) Various audio appears to cut out or not play. Only tried 2 flights so far, the Black Thursday mission. First mission while approaching the B29s wingman audio would randomly come in and out, was thinking maybe its supposed to be simulating lack of fighter to fighter radio range? Mission ended rather abruptly when I PKd myself I think by hitting my noggin on a B29's wingtip but there was no obvious damage. Second mission, the gear up sounds were absent as were flaps up and the rain on the canopy. O2 sound started playing as I was leveling out to attack a B29 after a dive. After initial engagement the wingman comms seemed fine so made me think the initial range impression was not correct. Will do more testing, just wondering if anyone else has noticed anything? EDIT: Further testing, not sure. First time I deploy flaps, in the Black Thursday mission at least, the sound doesn't play but retract and redeploy does play. And after disabling the new in-game music, seems the wingman comms at initial merge are better/more consistent. No interest in the music so no loss there. Max load 62% in the BT mission, which is down a significant amount from pre-patch so that's good. Edited July 22 by FuriousMeow 1 1
Husar Posted July 21 Posted July 21 The Black Thursday mission is almost unplayable. The FPS counter remains high, but the game load exceeds 70%, causing severe stuttering when looking around with TrackIR.
DeafBee Posted July 22 Posted July 22 Wow, you developers are amazing! I normally only play multiplayer, but after trying the new Commander Career mode, I'm honestly impressed. It's incredibly well made. I especially love the action music during the missions. It really makes the combat feel more intense and immersive. The game also looks absolutely stunning in VR. Thank you so much for all the hard work you've put into this game. It's becoming something really special. Keep up the amazing work! — DeafBee 1 1

dannytherat Posted July 22 Posted July 22 (edited) Possibly a silly question: will there be an option to play an 'old-fashioned' kind of career where you start out as a regular pilot? I love the Commander-career concept (and I'm looking forward to having a good go on it beyond the quick try I had on it yesterday), but I would still like the option to start out as an average Joe. Agreed! Ideally, I could get promoted over time, and gradually gain more responsibility appropriate to my rank and role in the unit, culminating in having all the features of the command and career mode if I become the C.O. 2

In the mission editor, there is currently no automatic night-time setting for night missions. Daytime flying is available. In career mode, night missions are only available for selection during nighttime. Night interception is performed by the player in a single aircraft.
