INFO has the SRS description and tutorial video links. Basically a app like teamspeak but far greater capabilities built in, you have multiple channels for each side so groups can splinter off, and one common channel for tower and control for mission operations, there is an AI control element built in that can update targeting info for you or your group, or give you guidance home if you can tell it where you are. Thanks my dude, invaluable assistance. I just joined their Discord and set up my announcement for the new virtual squadron I am standing up. I am West Coast based but I'll take anyone and everyone who speaks English. 😄 Eventually stars align that people from all over the world will line up at the right moment for a sortie or an online campaign mission. JG14_Jagr Posted October 15 Posted October 15 I've noticed that at several of the UN bases there is a AAA battery but usually of the 5 guns, 2 are 90mm AA guns and 3 are M1 105mm Howitzers. Is this by accident or lowering the AA level?
67thFBS_Heiden Posted October 15 Posted October 15 It definitely seems to be that the AA at the airfields is highly insufficient and does not dissuade the enemy from flying directly over it, even at low altitude. I've been buzzed multiple times by MiG-15s coming low over me as I am taking off. They don't shoot and respect the anti-vulching rules, but there is nothing stopping them from doing it. ATAG_Ezzie Posted October 16 Posted October 16 One of the things I'm enjoying on CB is the combination of low cloud and high mountains and how this can effect my sortie. I just had my first weather abort and while I didn't get any bombs away I still enjoyed the sortie. I fly the F-84 'alone and afraid' and don't take direct routes to the target to reduce my chances of being spotted by those nasty MiGs. So this often involves flight over the mountains which isn't an issue usually. But on today's mission (advance to the North maybe?) the cloud base was very low. No probs I thought - I'll just fly low and thru the valleys following breaks in the cloud etc and she'll be right. So I started doing that OK but quickly reached a point where the valley ahead was socked in by cloud and I had nowhere to go other than up into the low cloud base. Not wanting to then descend into the cloud and maybe hit a mountain to end my long-ish virtual life I erred on the side of caution and turned back the way I came and let down over the ocean where I knew what was below me. I then had a very challenging - for me - cross wind landing on a short airfield that usually causes me grief as I often have to go around to get my speed just right on touch down so I can brake and pull up before the end of the strip. So it was a satisfying sortie even though I didn't get to bomb anything. I've read plenty of real world stories of RAAF/USAAF pilots facing the same situation in New Guinea in WW2 and while in no way comparing this sim experience with real world it was still interesting to experience a taste of this and the decision making process etc. Thanks CB for using weather to make these missions challenging and satisfying. Talisman Posted October 17 Posted October 17 (edited) Very much enjoying CB 🤩 however, I could not get any sort of answer response from SRS tower or command yesterday afternoon/early evening. Is this a known issue or perhaps something has changed. Happy landings, Talisman UPDATE: As you were. All is working well again now 👍 would be great if more folks would use SRS, especially for airfield operations. Happy landings, Talisman Edited October 17 by Talisman
