YoYo Posted July 6 Posted July 6 Has the Combat Box server for IL-2 Korea been released yet? Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.
Dash,Polder Posted July 6 Posted July 6 It's being tested, generally it's up, two rotating missions so far. 1

YoYo Posted July 6 Author Posted July 6 Indeed. Combat Box is working! Up to 38 players now. Great news, I didn't expect it to be released so quickly. On the other hand, the mission editor is almost the same, so the old tricks should work here too. I'm waiting for VR optimization and would love to join 👍 (for now, I'm just slaid show over cities). 1 Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.
Valis Posted July 9 Posted July 9 (edited) I noticed in the server options 'Simplified Flight Physics' was enabled - what's the reason for this? What does this option do? e: this is what it does... ...not sure why CB are using it. To reduce wing snapping etc? Edited July 9 by Valis 2
Bubnovuji Posted July 10 Posted July 10 Сервер Combat Box дуэльно-тренировочный, когда будет работать??
Jade_Monkey Posted July 16 Posted July 16 Thanks for setting up and hosting the server! Is there a reason why the cloud height is so low in a couple of missions that I've seen so far? AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | Nvidia RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR4 | nVME SSD | VR headset: Pimax Dream Air SLAM
Dash,Polder Posted July 16 Posted July 16 One of their core principles is foster ground attack and support those kind of players, you can't have a healthy server and regular numbers without em. Ground attack guys like weather, it increases their survival chances. Already bad enough they have to make an appearance at known target zones, they need the odds increased they can get there and back pre and post target engagement. Not a whole lot of chances of survival for attack pilots in forever crystal clear skies servers. It's also the challenge factor, it pushes and promotes one to be a better pilot, and no war ever stopped because of weather. When a sim stagnates and there is no longer nothing to learn or conquer, it fades off into obscurity, same with a multi-play server. 2 3
kodamcity Posted July 19 Posted July 19 I am always grateful for the Combat Box server. However, I apologize, but could you please create more jet missions than propeller missions? Combat Box is the only server with active multiplayer, but every time I launch the game, a propeller mission is always in progress. I barely got to fly a jet in multiplayer this weekend. 1 3

Our mission creators are working hard to create more missions to add to the daily rotation, and most, if not all, will have jets. 4 2 1

Can you guys also put the targets closer together? It feels like the missions are designed for 40 vs. 40, but usually there are only 20-30 players on the server, scattered across a huge map. People end up flying around for an hour just to see a single enemy plane, and then complain that they can’t find anyone. It’s honestly extremely boring. It might also make sense to have fewer targets overall. I can’t remember the last time I saw a team win a map by destroying all the targets. 1

We (three pilots) wanted a jet mission and were forced to fly a prop mission instead this night ... and had a lot of fun with Yak-9 and Il-10, types of aircraft we never used before. Sometimes it is nice to get thrown into the water and have to learn to swim as there are no other options! Edit: Typo Edited July 26 by MiGCap 1 1
Talisman Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Is SRS available yet and set up for ground control features like ATC and radar/target information, etc? I have not flown IL-2 GB for a long time, but used to enjoy the Combat Box server and am thinking of trying it out for Korea. Thank you and happy landings, Talisman

FreddyKrueger Posted July 26 Posted July 26 Hey guys. Im having issues joining the server when a new map rotated. After getting to 36% loading "youre ok" message, my game crashes to desktop with the following error log: FAILED load: GRAPHICS\LANDSCAPE\TREE_SHADOW.BMP (graphics\textures\common\TREE_SHADOW.BMP) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\SCENE\SCENEOBJECTS\TEXTURES\GLASS_MAIN.DDS (graphics\textures\common\GLASS_MAIN.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\SCENE\SCENEOBJECTS\TEXTURES\GLASS_MAIN.DDS (graphics\textures\common\GLASS_MAIN.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\SCENE\SCENEOBJECTS\TEXTURES\GLASS_MAIN.DDS (graphics\textures\common\GLASS_MAIN.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\SCENE\SCENEOBJECTS\TEXTURES\GLASS_MAIN.DDS (graphics\textures\common\GLASS_MAIN.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\LANDSCAPE_KOREA_SP\SURFACETEX\ARF3\GROUND_SHAD_01-32X32.DDS (graphics\textures\common\GROUND_SHAD_01-32X32.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\LANDSCAPE_KOREA_SP\SURFACETEX\ARF3\SPOTS_MASK.DDS (graphics\textures\common\SPOTS_MASK.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\LANDSCAPE_KOREA_SP\LANDTEXTURESQUALITY\NUDEGROUND_2.DDS (graphics\textures\common\NUDEGROUND_2.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\LANDSCAPE_KOREA_SP\LANDTEXTURESQUALITY\NUDEGROUND_2_NM.DDS (graphics\textures\common\NUDEGROUND_2_NM.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\LANDSCAPE_KOREA_SP\LANDTEXTURESQUALITY\NUDEGROUND_3.DDS (graphics\textures\common\NUDEGROUND_3.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\LANDSCAPE_KOREA_SP\LANDTEXTURESQUALITY\NUDEGROUND_3_NM.DDS (graphics\textures\common\NUDEGROUND_3_NM.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\SCENE\SCENEOBJECTS\TEXTURES\GLASS_MAIN.DDS (graphics\textures\common\GLASS_MAIN.DDS) FAILED load: GRAPHICS\SCENE\SCENEOBJECTS\TEXTURES\GLASS_MAIN.DDS (graphics\textures\common\GLASS_MAIN.DDS) PS: I was able to join earlier today into what I think was a previous map, and am able to join 38th Parallel server just fine...Please help! Thank you.

IRRE_Axurit Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Thanks for adding radio navigation beacons to the missions !! 1 1
kodamcity Posted August 1 Posted August 1 (edited) It seems that the Operation Thunderbolt 1951 mission needs more fixed ground targets, such as the DPRK Seoul Army Camp. Although there are many convoy targets, they are spread out too widely and the clouds are too low, making them difficult to locate. It is extremely difficult for Eastern Bloc players to spot enemy aircraft approaching convoys. Even if a message indicating an enemy attack appears, it is difficult to defend because it is hard to pinpoint the exact location of convoys moving around in valleys and just below the cloud layer. Once, I spent 20 to 30 minutes at a time searching for targets around the Chuncheon to Seoul train and the DPRK Hoenson to Makdong-ni convoy in an F-80 for 2 to 3 sorties, but I never encountered an enemy aircraft even once. Since the DPRK Seoul Army Camp is located in a relatively easy-to-find position and is close to the USA airfield, Eastern Bloc and USA players tend to naturally gather in that area. Thanks to this, engagements seem to occur relatively frequently. However, if the target is destroyed, the frequency of engagement tends to drop drastically. Currently, the prop missions on the Combat Box server are rich in ground targets, and since the airfields of both factions are located close together, engagements occur frequently. That is why people really prefer prop missions. Because combat always occurs. On the other hand, jet missions, especially those involving the F-86 and MiG, are located at a great distance from the front lines, and even ground targets are spread out very widely, making it difficult to naturally encounter enemy aircraft. In the case of the Advance to the North 1950 mission, most engagements tend to occur near Kimpo Airfield. This is because MiG users can simply head to Kimpo Airfield, where USA jets take off and land, rather than going around to various widely deployed ground targets to find them. Since there is no warning message in this mission indicating that enemy aircraft are approaching Kimpo Airfield, USA jets that have just taken off and are flying toward the target area are often shot down helplessly. In my opinion, I think there is a need for more ground targets where users from both sides can naturally encounter each other. Edited August 1 by kodamcity 2
Flyingadjo Posted August 5 Posted August 5 Hi, I have never flown CB before. Where can I find explanation about how to communicate appart from the chat ? Do i need to install SRS ? Noob over 2
Medoed Posted August 6 Posted August 6 (edited) Good afternoon! Could you consider my proposal and move the targets/airfields closer together? Yesterday, I tried to bomb targets in a jet and a piston engine, but it proved impossible. It took about 17 minutes to reach both targets, not including takeoff from the runway. And out of three sorties, only one was nearly successful. In the others, I was either shot down on approach or on the approach to the target. For newbies, this situation is utterly terrifying these days, and few are willing to make such sacrifices. Also, I find it is better to not fly direct to target in a line from the airfield. Rather I would recommend something like a dog-leg, one or more as required, to arrive at the target with less chance of interception and from an unexpected direction that may also be valuable for a tactical egress home. Good luck. Happy landings, Talisman Edited August 6 by Talisman
Medoed Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I think there should be goals for different types of players. For those who enjoy flying only one way for a long time, and for those who want more action per square kilometer. 3
