The issue I'm having is pretty bad pop in from, (I think you call it, Lod), wh Yeah, I have seen it too on maxed out settings. "Optimization" these days usually means changing LOD thresholds, hence why this is more apparent. It seems to be exacerbated by the landscape filters. Make sure you have those turned off. 1

I have plenty of FPS, but the blurry textures and constantly changing mountain shapes look terrible in a modern game. If that wasn't EA I would felt like the developers are undermining their own work. 1
F86jkrM15 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 I have a Dream Air and have FSR Quality set in game. I am using an AMD 9070 XT 16 GB. I am having an issue when flying the MiG-15bis in VR. I am seeing double gunsight glass and the reticle is showing kind of a half circle. If I close one eye it looks normal. But with both eyes open it is super distracting and I feel like I am cross-eyed. Also, when looking into the sun, my whole view becomes cloudy. 1
Dash,Polder Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Try with shadows off. That's the single biggest drag besides direct lighting, and it don't matter which level they're set. Only off will allow anywhere near max frames over cities. 2

Dash,Polder Posted July 31 Posted July 31 VectorXR stereo depth/ world scale and the convergence / depth plane can greatly alleviate that cross eye sight picture. I was surprised when I hopped into a Mig after tinkering around with it in the allied planes setting up the cockpit scale, the Mig's sliced football reticle was gone and what appeared was a much more 3D gun sight with a circular reticle image on it. That app works and has fixed a lot of things for me, just can't praise it enough.
YoYo Posted July 31 Posted July 31 VectorXR is a great tool in this regard. It solved all my problems in this regard, and the latest version has even more options related to convergence, IPD, and world scale. I recommend it for sure. F86jkrM15 Posted July 31 Posted July 31 Thanks, can VectorXR be used with Pimax Play 2.0.2? Is there a way to set IPD in Korea? I think that Pimax Play has my IPD set correctly. I don't see this problem in the other Red aircraft, just the MiG-15. I haven't tried the Blue aircraft yet. Do you have some tips on how to change the settings in VectorXR to alleviate this problem?

I'm in curved screen business 🙂 , but it's no cpu joy here also. Since the last patch, in order to have smooth fps and .....high lows 🙂 , had to tune down hard, from 90 capped to 60 capped. I'm still searching for that setting that really might help. Any tested advice is greatly appreciated. This are my current settings, capped at 90 and now 60 from adrenaline. P.S the gpu is underworked, never ever goes above 70% , so it's the CPU's burden i'm trying to lift.
Jade_Monkey Posted August 2 Posted August 2 Pilot body seems to take a decent toll on my performance too, not as bad as indirect lighting. Im using FXAA 4x, which is great for the cockpit but a bit of aliasing on the distant landscape. 1 AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | Nvidia RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR4 | nVME SSD | VR headset: Pimax Dream Air SLAM

Thanks for getting back YoYo 👍 I am into combat flight simulation for the multiplayer experience, so have high hopes for IL-2 Korea in that regard. Shame that this head banging problem is spoiling things 😞 I only use SP to learn and train in the aircraft ready for MP as the main focus. I hope that the developers are looking to improve this totally immersion killing and annoying issue so that I can enjoy IL-2 Korea the same as I enjoyed IL-2 GB. I don't want to feel like I am wearing an oversized space helmet to fly the lovely propeller driven aircraft in this flight simulation. Happy landings, Talisman Edited August 2 by Talisman

I agree that there's something wrong with the F-51D's cockpit limit in VR. A slight head movement is enough for the whole thing to move with you. Papa Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Can someone with a similar setup let me know if this will run well on my setup? RTX 5090 can use DLSS/FSR Pimax Crystal OG Especially on a typical multiplayer server, do I have hopes of holding a stable 72 FPS most of the time? I'm thinking of getting it via the store while its EA and to leave more cash for the devs, but if performance is not guaranteed, I'd rather try it through Steam and refund if it's not playable for me.
Dash,Polder Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Yes, I can hold a stable 72 with a Super 57 and a 4090. Unless you are doing something wrong you should be able to rip at 90 with nearly everything cranked. The only caveat is you didn't specify the CPU, that could and does matter. 1

I'll probably upgrade it soon. In DCS I'm somewhat CPU-limited.
Papa Posted August 3 Posted August 3 OK, it works pretty well for me. I only messed around in training/exam missions so far, but I only noticed FPS drops in the big P-51 many on many air combat mission. So far so good. I'll try MP next time.

What are you settings for your 4090 and the Pimax 57ppd, I have the same and im interested to know,so far Il2 in Korea looks really sub par compared to other VR sims im flying and it doesnt matter what I do I can not get the terrain to look good at all, cockpits look fine
Dash,Polder Posted August 4 Posted August 4 (edited) 9950X3D CPU You may have to install EVO to get that crop feature, that's where your going to get your biggest gain, my system can fully handle 22 million pixels without choking, anything over and it starts to gag. With the excellent overlap on the 57 your not going to notice the crop much at all. Also keep the hidden area mask on, that'll curve the crop to the shape of your lenses. That's recorded by EVO directly off the right eye screen, that is exactly what and how I see the game. Better add in I use MSI also, not really doing any real card overclocking, just make sure the power limit has no restrictions and a conservative memory boost. Give yourself a nice head start with GPU cooling with the fans also, so it kicks in early and goes maximum quickly under a load before it starts getting warm. Post release - Shadows now Ultra, and canopy set high, the shadows now work. The clouds are now better far as load but the combo with shadows ultra in full overcast and rain when set clouds to ultra becomes a bit of a drag with both on. Shadows it is for me over full clouds. Nice optimizations on these for release, but the grass, forget about it, it's a real drag and not worth the cost. Try the indirect lighting, it was unplayable before, but you can actually fly it at still a great cost in VR. The only thing of note is how the cockpit instruments appear, they look real with the glass. But not worth the chug, for me it does have micro stutters, not a silky smooth experience. It bogs the hanger and menus down big time, but not as bad in the fly. Edited August 4 by Dash,Polder 1
YoYo Posted August 5 Posted August 5 (edited) I flew yesterday in version 1.001, the release version. Unfortunately, optimization is still lacking. I even feel like it's worse in some aspects (because something happened at the airports/runways, where it's currently difficult to achieve maximum frame rates). Before this patch or the one before last, airports were better, and I didn't really complain. Something's been added here. I'll test the lack of grass further (if it has such an impact on FPS) - but... no grass in the simulator in 2026 (It's not even a compromise, just a visual downgrade and significantly so)? That's a throwback to the early 2000s... Edited August 5 by YoYo Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only.
