Yeah, looks like there was a bit of mixed application for the markings initially. The plane that I believe was flown by Hess (Plane 18) looked like it had the markings painted "upside down" which is what I had initially gone off of. The markings for his plane look like the dark blue is leading, at least if I'm seeing this black and white picture right: 

But then it looks like the other RoKAF planes had the red nearest to the leading edge of the wing:

Looks like it stayed the same in what I'm guessing is a picture from later in the war or after, just based on how clean all of these markings and the plane itself look.

That's awesome looking! It's why I always gravitated towards making VVS skins in the original Il-2 and the Battle of X series...the Russians just know how to paint a plane and make it look awesome.

No kidding! Trying to find clean images of the RoKAF markings on the wings has been a bit tough, since most of the images are on the ground with flat wings that are hard to see clearly.
It's too bad everyone didn't have a cell phone in their pocket back in Korea!

Finally got some workable skins for my Fighter Group.

My plane is a bit more decorated than the others (for now) but we at least all match. Still plenty of work to do(I'm currently working on getting the 9 serial number lined up on the tail so it looks somewhat decent with the game's generated tactical numbers), but it's getting closer to finished.
