SARFlytitus Posted April 28 Author Posted April 28 @XQ_Lothar29 Ok my friend, thank you for your valuable opinion. In the absence of certain photographic documentation I believe that logically I will mount the 300-liter tank in the fuselage and, since I want to reproduce the F6 + TH which in '42 was based in my Sardinian land only few kilometers from my home, I will also install the more than plausible dust filter for the semi-desert Mediterranean environment. 😉 1
SARFlytitus Posted April 28 Author Posted April 28 In the meantime, having put my latest works on hold, I have finally given the finishing touches to the Macchi MC-202 of the ace Major Furio Niclot Doglio, shot down by George Beurling over Malta on July 27, 1942 10 1

3D. Edited April 29 by VladZ70 8

I really like how you did the smoke camouflage. Are those decals or did you do it with an airbrush?😍 I have a half-finished Macchi C.202 Folgore with the Aires engine and all the parts to make it look amazing, but since I want to make it very realistic, I can never find the hole to start over. Anyway, I have another new Folgore; that's my habit when I buy a plane—I buy the same plane or kit at least twice and at most four times. Hahaha 1

George Beurling, the pilot no one wanted in the RAF due to his lack of discipline and his utterly individualistic fighting style, had hawk-like eyesight but was solitary and very dangerous in his Spitfire. 1
SARFlytitus Posted April 29 Author Posted April 29 @XQ_Lothar29 Hi Bro' ! The smoke rings of my Macchi are from Eduard new decals , you know These are the ones from which, once applied and left to dry thoroughly, that thin film must be carefully removed. The process is obviously long and tedious, but having carefully prepared the surface, the result was exceptional. I'm too bad at it, and even with my Infinity Plus or Iwata Eclipse I just can't get truly convincing smoke rings in 1/48... In the meantime I started the Messerschmitt 109 F-6... it had been a while since I worked on my favorite plane.😉 9 1
SARFlytitus Posted May 4 Author Posted May 4 I've started working on the Eduard F6F5-N again and this was my first problem with the FUTURE. I couldn't get the gloss paint to apply satisfactorily. The finish isn't uniform, and this is causing me a lot of trouble applying the decals (the ugliest I've ever seen). this time I used Mr. Hobby colors, but I don't like them. I think I'll go back to Vallejo. However, I'll try to fix it as much as possible. Definitely not so proud of my works so far. 7
Pausehelio Posted May 6 Posted May 6 SARFlytitus nice developments! Here some info I found in my private book/article collection. Its about an Me 109 G-4 /R 3 (fighter/recon) with Rb 50/30 camera. In the cockpit an extra apparatus for operating it. Not sure it's the same for an F-6 though. 1

I have three to build, but I never find the time to start one. Before that, I want to build a Grumman FM-2 Wildcat and an F4F. They're the most beautiful planes from the Pacific War, in my opinion. On another note, I'm in the final stages of building the Bf 109G-14/AS/U4. I hope you like it because after this, I won't be seeing another 109 out of my workshop for a long time. Images of the Bf109G-14/AS Spoiler Now all I need to do is even out the dirt on the bottom of the fuel tank and generate small scratches and chipped paint. Assemble the landing gear system and create mud splashes 6

My good friend, to everyone who uses Future or similar products like those for the ground, etc., I always say the same thing: they're very good, especially for transparent surfaces; they make them more realistic. But I used Future for a while, and I always had the same problems: orange peel, weakness depending on the solvents used for special effects, etc. Over the years, I realized that Future can stay on the workbench, but for transparent copper work, be careful not to let any dust fall on it, because it will ruin your work. So, in the end, I've discovered that what works, works without problems, and on a model, there's no room to risk the great work we do. So, my go-to gloss varnish is always Gunze H-30 or Tamiya X-22, and for matte varnish, I use Vallejo and Mr. Colors. They protect the paint perfectly, and the matte finish allows you to use any thinner for the final touches on oil paintings. Try it; you'll see how much trouble it saves you. Good luck, my good friend. 1 1 1
SARFlytitus Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 (edited) @XQ_Lothar29 Hi Brother! I also use Future to simulate the glass on instruments and navigation lights. For canopies, I switched a while ago and I'm happy with "Looks Like Glass". I've always used Future as a glossy base for applying decals, and I've never had any problems until this latest model. It ruined my wing roots, but somehow I salvaged it, even though it won't turn out to be a Show stopper model. Anyway, I ordered a giant container of X-22, now I just need to figure out which thinner to use and in what ratio: 1/1, 1/2? Mr. Level Thinner? For the final finish, I continue to use Vallejo Satin or Matt, which, as you say, allow me to use washes with very diluted enamel and white spirit to remove the excess without ruining the underlying work. Thanks for the advice, Bro' Edited May 7 by SARFlytitus 1
SARFlytitus Posted May 7 Author Posted May 7 @Pausehelio Hey M8,Thanks so much, the image is very helpful ! I hadn't found anything similar in my library. I imagine the F-6 also had the same control panel as the G-4 R3 for the RB 50/30. I'll take the risk, especially considering that you won't be able to see much under an umbrella anyway...😉 2
XQ_Lothar29 Posted May 8 Posted May 8 I believe I can find detailed images of the Bf109F-6 in my library, both of the cockpit and the photography system, which had a button located on the upper left of the instrument panel and ran along the left side to the camera. I'll look and as soon as I find the minimum I'll send it to you. 1
SARFlytitus Posted May 8 Author Posted May 8 @XQ_Lothar29 muchas gracias Bro, Meantime the 109 F6 is on hold… and F6F5-N almost “ready” . today i’ve received my crate full of goodies (X-22 and relative Thinners amongst other “needed” kits ) 😂😂😂 10 1
SARFlytitus Posted May 10 Author Posted May 10 This is my cursed Eduard F6f5-N in 1/48... I call it FINISHED !😅 8 2
Catch Posted May 10 Posted May 10 See, a bit of patience, determination, calmness and clear thinking along with lots of coffee can produce goodness from that which before was a bad negative space suddenly turn to inspiration. I like this Hellcat. She is very nice. 1
