SARFlytitus Posted March 18 Author Posted March 18 @Voncrapenhauser Welcome back M8! Yes, I'd actually noticed your masterpieces had been missing for a while... I too had to take a break for health reasons, but things are better now, and I hope you're doing the same. Cheer up...we're starting again, I can't wait to admire your masterpieces again. SARF 1 1
Marvel Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) Hi pals, very glad to meet you in this new section. Here some shots of my last model kit, Eduard 1/48 Spitfire Mk. IXc: Ciao! M. Edited March 26 by Marvel grammatical mistakes 11
XQ_Lothar29 Posted March 26 Posted March 26 (edited) Hello again everyone!! We have to thank Sneakside for opening up this little corner of the world for us plastic and paint enthusiasts. When I saw we didn't have one, I mentioned it to him and he didn't hesitate to create one. I'm very happy to see everyone back here and your work. After the passing of my stepfather on December 17th, although it was a very hard blow, I've been able to get back into modeling. And a Bf109G-14/AS/U4/R3 is slowly coming out of the oven. For now, I can only upload some photos of a nice project I completed in a week: a 1:72 scale Bf109F-2. Spoiler And here's a 1:48 scale P-400 that I don't think I've taken good photos of yet. And a beautiful model that's no longer with me because, like many models, I end up giving them away to people I know will take good care of them. And this Z-37A CMELAK "Bumblebee" I gave to my doctor, who was a very close friend. And Z-37A scale 1:72 I hope that, as always, we fill this community with airplanes, techniques, and color. SARFlytitus Posted March 26 Author Posted March 26 @XQ_Lothar29 The master strikes back ! as usual Great Job Hermano ! 1
Kettensaege Posted April 10 Posted April 10 (edited) Don´t know why the pictures are turned in original they are unturned. Not finished yet but nearly complete. Posted this because there are no news in the modelling section for long time. Also it would be better if all modelling topics would be merged into one, theres one in the german forum, there are 2 here, all in one would be better i think. Edited April 10 by Kettensaege 6
SARFlytitus Posted April 16 Author Posted April 16 And finally, after what seemed like a very long pause, I sat down at my workbench... Slowly, it's starting to take shape. Almost ready to receive some color. 6 1

Just one tip: for the wheels, try to get pigments of different colors, like European earth tones, or other earth colors and black, and with a pigment fixative, you'll achieve a dry dust effect on the tire. I don't like helicopters or blowtorches, but I have a lot of projects I've been meaning to start. P.S.: These are just suggestions. 3
XQ_Lothar29 Posted April 28 Posted April 28 And here I show you the next one I'm going to finish. Due to symbol restrictions, I have to hide the images, but I hope you like it. It still needs work, but all that's left is the weathering, unifying the insignias with the camouflage paint, and little else besides the smoke effects. In fact, these photos were a test to try out a camera configuration to better capture details Spoiler Most of the Balkenkreuz are painted; the rest are decals. A big hug to all. 4 1
SARFlytitus Posted April 28 Author Posted April 28 WUNDERBAR !!! Eduard kit i suppose... I've just started my next project, a 109 F-6 Recce. A 1/48 conversion based on Eduard Bf 109 F-4 early. Anyway i'm here to ask some 109 "Master" my question: I'm not sure whether or not to install a 300-liter drop tank. The paucity of my documentary sources prevents me from resolving the doubt. I found a couple of images of F6 + TH in a old Squadron Signal In Action, but I can't figure out whether or not they were equipped with it. The text reports that the 109 F-6 photoreconnaissance aircraft carried it due to the well-known endurance limit, but from the images I don't seem to see any provision. I don't even know if they were really equipped with a sand filter... in the meantime, I've suspended the work, hoping to resolve the issue.

Indeed, the Bf 109 F-6s used the Rb 20/30, Rb 50/30, or Rb 75/30 camera kit, but the most common was the Rb 50/30. And as you correctly mentioned, they did use the Rüstsatz 3 (R3) kit, which included 300-liter external fuel tanks. There was even a special version that mounted two, one on each wing, but I've only seen one photo of this modification. Here's a link where they talk about the cameras. https://ww2aircraft.net/forum/threads/german-aircraft-cameras.14132/ I hope it helps. 1
