PaperPilot Posted June 27 Posted June 27 I’m hoping for an F-86F. It is probably the best known variant of the Sabre.
bsones Posted June 28 Posted June 28 I know the DLC is probably going to be Naval-focused, but I would really love to see the F-94 Starfire in the game. First US fighter with an afterburner, and it also has a true (if primitive) air to air radar. Nighttime flying looks so good in this engine--it would be great to have a fighter designed for nighttime intercepts. 1

I too would like to see the F-94 Starfire in the game. One day maybe. Fingers crossed!

They were used as attack aircraft in the 58th IAP KPAF (2 squadrons) and some were in training regiments, there were also two regiments (25th and 27th in the 9th air division PLAAF) but it's unlikely that they took part in the battles. There were also two Soviet regiments (304th IAP and 401st IAP) that were engaged in training Chinese pilots and did not participate in combat operations. 1 1

It's too early to talk about the official addition of any new aircraft, as in the near future all our efforts will be focused on finalizing the current and as-yet unnamed aircraft from the upcoming expansion. 1

Maybe it will be in another expansion plane pack once this carrier dlc is out of the way. I think there will be a lot of planes coming for the Korean War in the near future. I would really like to see the F-86E and F in there one day too. I look forwards to see how the future unravels for IL-2 Korea and the Pacific and what ever comes next after that. Avimimus Posted June 29 Author Posted June 29 It'd be kind-of fun if they included the Gunval as a Collector Plane (sold separately from the baseline F-86E and F-86F)... I'm not that excited by the Gunval aircraft to be honest - but it'd probably sell well and might compensate a bit for the added effort required for more interesting aircraft like an F-82G, Seafire Fr.47 or a Meteor F.8 (all of which I suspect would sell well as they've got their own dedicated fan communities). 13 hours ago, BlackSix said: It's too early to talk about the official addition of any new aircraft, as in the near future all our efforts will be focused on finalizing the current and as-yet unnamed aircraft from the upcoming expansion. Yes, very true. Hence why I've tried to localise all such talk into this thread... people are excited and need a place to express that excitement... but it is also definitely too early. 2
Legioneod Posted June 29 Posted June 29 (edited) Main thing I want is to see Korea fully fleshed out. Game looks great so far, I just hope you continue with it and build it up. No one has really done Korea and it's always overlooked. Things like Helicopters are pretty important to the war so I would like to see them. Only other things I really hope to see besides Helicopters are the F2H banshee and the A-1 Skyraider. Keep up the good work. Edited June 29 by Legioneod 1
migmadmarine Posted June 30 Posted June 30 Now that we've seen what is available in the base game for aircraft mods etc, what would be the practical differences between the MiG-15Bis we have and the base model MiG-15 if that were to be added down the road? I believe I recall reading in here of the size of the airbrakes being a distinction, but we appear to have that already as a modification to the Bis. I'm not against having a granular distinction aircraft added like putting the the base MiG-15 for the Chinese as they had them, especially given the ease of implementation, but what would that actually look like?
Xtremist Posted June 30 Posted June 30 (edited) Doesn't the roadmap say that the dlc presentation is in the second quarter? It ends today... Edited June 30 by Xtremist
Fabry_ASW19 Posted July 1 Posted July 1 I’m only interested in Multiplayer and mostly blue-force player and I know I will buy most DLC additional Blue-force additional aircraft but I really want this game to succeed and to do that we need a well balanced player base, the Mig 15 is awesome but we need Red players to get more than just that, what additional jets could be added to Red side to compete with the huge variety offered by Blue? Maybe France could secretly sale some Ouragans to North Korea? 1

The Mig 9 or Mig 17 could be added for what if scenarios, but they were never saw combat over Korea irl. UN forces will always have more variety unfortunately. 1 1

As rediculously ahistorical as it sounds, I would love to see some alt-history like that. Gives it that extra flavour if you knbow what I mean, right? I know IL-2 is all about historical accuracy though, so don't hold your breath for alternative historical scenarios. But I love that idea.
migmadmarine Posted July 2 Posted July 2 The La-15 has been alleged to have been spotted a couple of times in Korea, and engaged, but no Soviet records have corroborated this. But if more Soviet bloc jets are to be added that are a bit of a stretch, I'd be more in favor of the La-15 and MiG-9, since they better overlap the Korean era than the 17F. 2
Avimimus Posted July 2 Author Posted July 2 Is this a periscopic mirror? Would the La-9 have better visibility than the La-11?: 1

Slightly less engine power (resulting in a slight reduction in climb rate), and maybe lack of boosted ailerons leading to a lower roll rate. Overall, most of the changes are cosmetic and it wouldn't really fly that meaningfully differently - there are more meaningful differences between the Mig-15Bis field mods that we have than there are between between the Mig-15 and the Mig-15Bis. Mig-9 would be nice for some early war situations between F80s and stuff. As far as mig-17 I was thinking more the Mig-17A sine they actually were produced during the war, I think the Mig-17f was post war. The La-15 would be really cool to see as well. I'm all for adding ahistorical aircraft as long as they fit the timeframe. The more aircraft the better imo.
Sheriff88 Posted July 2 Posted July 2 I suspect the carrier aviation rendering will be conservative. At best ,with flight deck activity similar to Yankee Air Pirate mod in Strike Fighters 2. Taxi to launch position on the cat (?) maybe. LSO waving aircraft aboard ?Doubt it. But could be done with voice comms. (Strike Fighters 2 has deck spotted with array of aircraft.) Rig barricade for emergency landing? Now THAT would be crazy. 1
PaperPilot Posted July 5 Posted July 5 Hi everyone, I’ve been thinking about future aircraft and content for the IL‑2 series, and I wanted to ask something. Is there an official future‑modules suggestion or wishlist that the community can contribute to? If one already exists, I’d appreciate a link. If not, would it be possible for someone to set up an official, centralized wishlist so players can share ideas for aircraft, maps, and features they’d like to see in upcoming releases? I think having a single, organized place for suggestions could help both the developers and the community keep track of what people are most interested in. Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction or help get something like this started.

I'll probably set something up to try to keep things organised - but only after the next module is announced after Korea. One thing to caution though: The forum members are not representative of most players, and the development of modules is also based on things like what data is available - so just because something is popular with the forum members (or even with the developers themselves) doesn't mean that it will necessarily be possible. Anyway, this thread should be limited to aircraft that were used in the Korean War (or could have been used). 1
