LOL. Apparently, NVidia has announced that DLSS 5 will be officially released soon (the leak itself probably sped it up). I'll wait for it without any further ado. I probably won't be using it in IL-2 Korea, but why not in some FPS games? No more "stupid paid remasters", now all I have to do is enable DLSS 5 ! 2 Home cockipt: GPU RTX5090, CPU i7 13900, RAM 64Gb. | Webmaster of yoyosims.pl. VR flying only (Meta Quest Pro).

Stonehouse Posted September 3 Posted September 3 Friend pointed this out to me - kind of like an analogue of the DLSS swapper program a lot of people already use but specifically for DLSS5 setups. Nice that it gives you a 1 click restore to original. Saves having to figure out which files to delete. MajorMagee Posted September 4 Posted September 4 (edited) Thanks for that. It made trying it with IL2 BoX very simple. Original Reshade Shaders Only Reshade Shaders with DLAA 5 The FPS hit is very similar (50%) to what we're seeing in Korea. I do like what it does to make the trees more three dimensional looking. BoeingVertol Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Any chance I can get a screen of your regular display settings for reference Maj, or do you tinker too much to stick w/ settings at this point? Running same chip/card setup. 9800X3D/5070Ti IL-2 GB/FC/Korea
Aapje Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Apparently this version is very unoptimized and the final version performs much better.
Stonehouse Posted September 4 Posted September 4 (edited) Nvidia driver 616.64 just dropped. Says game ready for NBA2K27 and DLSS5 so maybe it is now officially released. <edit>Warning may only be for NBA2K27 so perhaps leave the new driver alone for now. MajorMagee Posted September 4 Posted September 4 Pretty much my conclusion as well. DLSS 5 is only good for pretty pictures, and currently has no place in everyday usage. I appreciate his analysis that everything is being done as a last pass at full screen resolution, leaving no room for improving the performance by anything the user can adjust. Doesn't really matter, as long as the drivers are uploaded as game ready then they are good to go to update regardless of the 0-day game release they are stated as being for. I'm going to update even though not sure I'll be messing with DLSS injection into older/non-supported titles - yet at least. Am interested to see what it can do for GB, and DCS (forgot I had 4 modules).
Joch Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Tomshardware dropped a quick review, DLSS 5 looks very nice, but has a big frame hit, unless you have a 5090. https://www.tomshardware.com/video-games/pc-gaming/we-tested-dlss-5-in-nba-2k27-with-every-rtx-50-series-gpu-first-official-release-comes-with-a-big-performance-hit-but-almost-every-blackwell-card-can-run-it-at-1080p
Husar Posted September 5 Posted September 5 The hacked version let you do neural rendering before upscaling to native monitor resolution which give better fps and not bad image quality. Official neural rendering is done after upscaling which have huge impact on fps when resolution is higher than 1080p. 1

I like it very much, too bad it doesn't work with OnLine, Combat Box for example..
IckyAtlas Posted September 5 Posted September 5 Are we talking DLSS 5 on RTX 50xx boards or on RTX 40xx boards here. I thought DLSS was working only on the 50xx series.

MajorMagee Posted September 7 Posted September 7 (edited) A new version of the reshade Add-On at RenoDX came out that provides a way to pre-render the neural effects at a lower resolution to lessen the impact of doing it at full screen resolution. I tested this against just using DLSS Quality, and it performed essentially the same using either approach. DLAA + NR (Clearly better text readability, but 10 FPS lower than the next two) DLAA + Pre-rendered NR at 75% screen size with 25% added sharpening DLSS Quality (66.7% screen size) + NR For reference, on my machine DLAA typically runs at my full G-SYNC rate of 97 FPS Edited September 7 by MajorMagee 1 Service To The Line, On The Line, On Time! 9800X3D, 64 GB DDR5, RTX 5070-Ti 1024 GB/s @ 2700 MHz 0.85V, Calibrated 10 bit QD-OLED 3440x1440 @ 240Hz
