Redeye Posted July 11 Posted July 11 @LukeFF Like several posts above I also suffer from the Yak's engine seizing seemingly without reason. AI Yaks engines seize within secons of starting the Skirmisch at 4000 meter. Known issue or operater error? 1
Uriah Posted July 11 Posted July 11 Listed here are some statements and assumptions about what controls the Yak-9P has and does not have. If there is anything I don’t have correct please let me know. As an example, I just assume that the Yak-9P does not have inlet nor outlet cowl shutters. I am guessing the La-11might. And I am sure all the jets do not. Engine RPM: automatic governor, so don’t assign lever Mixture control: manual, two position aft and forward, use buttons Supercharger: yes, two stage, button Boost/WEP: ? (is this even a thing in IL-2 Korea?) Radiator water: shutters controlled manually, use lever Radiator oil: shutters controlled manually, use lever Cowl shutters Inlet: no Cowl shutters Outlet: no Flaps: yes, All or nothing. use buttons Trim pitch(elevator): yes, button Trim yaw(rudder): no Trim roll(aileron): no Breaks: Uses Differential braking system, use button and rudder Tailwheel lock: yes, button Nose wheel brake: no Parking brake: no Wheel chuck: no (does any aircraft in IL-2 Korea have this?) Tail hook: no (will any future aircraft in IL-2 Korea have this?) Airbrakes: no Canopy open/close: yes, use buttons Canopy ejection: no (is this even a thing in IL-2 Korea?) Gun Safety Cover: no (is this even a thing in IL-2 Korea?) Weapon Release: no (is this even a thing in IL-2 Korea?) Machine gun (fire gun groups 1?): yes, button Cannon (fire gun groups 1?): yes. button Bombs: no Rockets: no

Husar Posted July 12 Posted July 12 Yak9P inside cockpit movmet is to restricted in Y axis - moving up and down.
FuriousMeow Posted July 14 Posted July 14 If the top of the engine cowling/covers are shot away you can look through the bottom of the plane. Looks like missing textures, or something along those lines, as the bottom of the Yak wasn't shot away.
Civilprotection Posted July 14 Posted July 14 I think I have found an ammo bug for the Yak. When selecting this ammo belt (and this belt in particular) no 20mm rounds are fired from the gun. The sound of the cannon plays, and shell casings are ejected out the bottom, but no tracer is visible, and no rounds impact the target (or the ground). It's worse when one sets up the AI to use the belt, as that crashes the game: Can someone else confirm this issue? It happens with 100% consistency for me 1

Flying it more, it does outmanoeuvre the Mustang, even when I heavily loaded it with fuel in multiplayer. What I have noticed is that it seems to have very weak elevators combined with it feeling very nose heavy. Sometimes you run out of elevator in turns. I think this is what contributes the most to its sluggish handling. It's a bit like how the yak3 in great battles feels more stiff than the earlier 9s for some reason 1

Have you read feedback in that other prop thread you started a while ago? Two solutions: Allied: you just physically link the throttle to a rpm lever (which you can then hide) (see P-47, Spitfire IX) German: you have a sophisticaated KommadoGerät like system that sets all parameters depending on the position of the throttle lever
Uriah Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I am confused about the Yak and the water radiator controls. First, in the cockpit layout I don't see any thing labeled for water radiator. That gives me a clue that there is nothing for the pilot to do to control water cooling. Second, when I do set the settings for my custom key mapping for the Yak, the values that do show up in the FLIGHT MANUAL do not match. In the custom key mapping I have assigned the backspace key to the 'Water radiator servo mode: manual/auto' but in the FLIGHT MANUAL what shows up is key combo of [R Alt] + [R]. And for 'Water radiator, servo: open' I have assigned [=] and for close [-], but the FLIGHT MANUAL adds the key combo of [R Alt] to each. I really just want to use a lever on my controller rather than any keys. Any thoughts to clear my confusion?

The pilot only controls the oil rad. Same as with the Yak-3 from Great Battles. One called МАСЛО is for oil radiator, second called ВОДА is for water radiator. Oil radiator is manual only, water radiator can be set to auto or manual mode. I have assigned keys on joystick for both radiators, but you can also assign keys on keyboard or just use quick menu.
Uriah Posted July 20 Posted July 20 I looked at the right side and the only thing that made sense was 'Combined Radiator Shutters Indicator'. I get the idea that for water radiator just assign keys for auto or manual. But maybe as the oil is manual and on a wheel I can use a lever. Thoughts?

Again, there is a page in the manual for each plane that lists the required commands for the aircraft, and the associated commands for each plane can also be found when hovering over the relevant section in the cockpit diagram. For the Yak-9P radiators, please re-read what LuftManu wrote above.
Uriah Posted July 20 Posted July 20 Per suggestion from Art-J, I set a lever for the RPM. It seems to have no affect and the animation of the lever does not move. Have I done something wrong? LukeFF, I guess I am not finding this manual you speak of. I thought it was what I find when I have the game up and go to the tab for FLIGHT MANUAL.

Uriah Posted July 20 Posted July 20 For Yak-9 I have a custom key map. The 'Water radiator servo' settings don't show a match in the Flight Manual. I have assigned... Water radiator servo mode: manual/auto – kb [\] Water radiator servo mode: open - kb []] Water radiator servo mode: close – kb [[] But the Flight Manual shows And I did test and my assignments do work. 1
Tuna_Lead Posted July 25 Posted July 25 (edited) According to the Cornell report (BA-738-D-4) the YaK-9P's main electrical switches on the left cockpit wall are "down" for "on" instead of "up" for "on". Currently the game has them modelled as up when on. Is this a quirk of the captured example or were all YaK-9Ps wired like this? Very minor thing but putting it here because it seems abnormal, I don't see switches wired "down" for "on" very often. I am sure this isn't a typo because several other pages in the report, such as detailing the starting procedure, specify "down" for "on" Edited July 25 by Tuna_Lead

I am sure this isn't a typo because several other pages in the report, such as detailing the starting procedure, specify "down" for "on" Hey! We saw this note but.. it turned to be weird thing for a few reasons: - its uncommon for "classic" electrics switches movement for ON-OFF operation, and well - just a safety reasons - as you can accidently turn "weapons" switch ON when entering the cockpit - just by catch it by clothes or smh; - when in case of pilot notes, for WWII yaks, for example for Yak-3 - there is an actual picture with "ON" position up; - also we have a photo from a Yak-3U trials - whre all the switches are in down position (is from a serie of a photos when also instruments are visible, as well as external photos with removed hatches etc. - so airplane is definately in OFF state); - same for La-11 - OFF on the bottom; - MiG-15 have some of vertically positioned switches - for example for stores drop and for landing light - where "ON" position at the top (ВКЛЮЧ./ВКЛ. = ON); - same is for IL28 (if to take close era airplanes for example); and so on So we decided to leave it in "classic" way - as maybe there can be some sort of mistake or smh we dont know about, and not to confuse ppl for sure 🙂 PS: but for sure - if there gonna be more clear information about it - we will change it. PPS: usually there is no notes about corerct movement of switches in tech descr (just a note - put it "ON" or "OFF" oposition) - but which way? 🙂 Edited July 26 by =FB=VikS 1 2
