SIX! New planes for IL2-GB announced!

P-47M! I only just found out, and I recreated my account just for this 😀

I'm pretty happy with what we have so far. Adding new planes like the Dornier 217, Stuka B-2, or He 162? Yeah, keep dreaming. Personally couldn't care less for the bombers like the b25 but I think we should consider ourselves lucky to even get the P-39Q and P-47M for a game this old, I'm lookin forward to the p39 especially. The Yak-3 and La-7 in the Odessa module were a must though—100% needed for the game to feel complete.

If there’s one plane I’d really love to see, it’s the Yak-9U. The problem is it doesn't fit the Odessa career since it arrived later. Also, more scripted campaigns like a Stuka campaign, for example would be a great addition. A new version of the 110, like the 110F, would be cool too, but I think fixing the 110E giving it the correct engines should be the top priority; the thing currently flies like a brick.

I agree with you for the most part, but I have respectfully dissagree with you for the Do-217 and the Ju-87 B-2. These, a long with the IL-4 and SB-2, in my opinion, are necessary to fill in significant gaps in the pilot career mode that shouldn't be ignored forever. Otherwise it will feel like an incomplete product. Not only do they fill in a specific gap, but also a chronological niche. There were no Ju-87 D-3s operational until 1942, so this is why they are excluded from Moscow and Odessa 1941 pilot career and AQMB modes. For the Do-217, it doesn't get much recognition in video games these days (apart from War Thunder), so it would be nice to have something like a Do-217 E-2 to remember those pilots. We don't really have a meeium bomber for the Soviets apart from the A-20B and the soon to be A-20G and B-25C/D, as well as the Pe-2, but these are more heavy attack aircraft rather than purposeful level bombers. If we got something like the IL-4 Model 1942, 43 and 44 (all in one paid module) I think the pilot career gameplay would feel more complete. same goes for the SB-2. But I know they can only do so much for Great Battles. 

Things I do agree with you is that I am happily suprised we are getting the P-39Q, P-47M, and i do agree with you that the Yak-3 and La-7 were a nessecity for Odessa. I also think that we need a Bf-110 F-2 fr Great Battles. Good thing we think alike for the most part on this.

The DO-217 - whilst nice to have, never served as a bomber over Russia I don't believe? Think it did nightime recon work, but never as a bomber.

It's still very relevant catchforusthefoxes. I like it because it plays well on mediocre mid to low end rigs. With Korea, well I'd have to sell the Roller to afford the upgrade. And I'd never sell the Roller.

I run an i3 12100f paired with an rtx 2060 12gb, 16gb of ram. My system doesn't even meet minimum requirements for korea lol

According this picture...

..it seems they will be released gradually. When early access is in Q2, but release in Q4.

My guess is, that on IL-2 website they will be coming gradually, but on Steam all at once in final release.

Thanks again, so it looks like all the bombers will be delivered at once. I don t know if they will part of a pack where you need to buy them altogether or sold individually. Q3 is almost around the corner, it would be good to get further communications on this topic.

No, I really expect them to sell it similarly to Odessa, where you pay for the full thing, but you actually get the planes gradually over time.

It does say that there will be six months between EA for the bombers and release of the bombers... so I suspect that it'll be either they get released one at a time or that the pilot cockpits come out first, with the gunners coming out later...

I've no idea how the Fw-189 fits into this (maybe part of the Bomber DLC?)

Question for you. Do you expect development to carry on into 2028 for Great Battles in terms of collector planes? I think it would be safe to bet on it because

a) there are so many gaps in the pilot careers on both the Eastern and Western Fronts. 

b) it would serve as an extra form of profit for the dev team.

c) there is demand for more planes.

My own guess is that we might see one or two additional aircraft - perhaps Finish fighters made by third parties (if they make sufficient progress).

However, with the release of Korea I expect most interest to shift to the improved engine. When people see the progress in flight models and damage models they'll want to see their favourites recreated... this is regrettable from my perspective, because it means recreating less obscure aircraft instead of giving us aircraft that have never been modelled before... However, I also expect to catch that fever and look forward to the old being new again... you probably will too once you try Korea.

All that's left is to upgrade my hardware to pull off at least minimum requirements.

At the end of the day, the most important factor is whether enough people will buy them. I'm sure that they'll look at the sales of the Bomber DLC, the P-47M and the P-39Q to see whether it makes sense to release more.

I tend to agree with Avimimus, once we start flying Korea, Great Battles will seem as outdated as original IL2 does now. Not that I am deleting it from my drive anytime soon, but I think for many,, it's days will be numbered.
