Tdawg8645 Posted October 1 Posted October 1 Just wanted to add my thanks for making this wonderful mod. As a mainly SP guy this excellent mod makes the career mode a lot more playable. Having to manage dozens of pilots with no leaderboard or easily accessible pilot stats wasn't fun. This should really be part of the base game hopefully the devs take note and add it in. 1 1

hjbb1975 Posted October 2 Posted October 2 (edited) Hi! First of all, thank you for this tool. It has become the way I follow my IL-2 Korea career. The pilot record, the ribbon rack, the mission debriefings with every target listed, the award progress, and the warning about missing sorties are all beautifully done, and they show real care for the game and for the history behind it, and are impressive and have helped me understand my own career file. Great work. **The problem** In my 9th FBS / 49th FBG career (F-84E), the tail number in the debriefings and in "Pilots on this mission" is shown undecoded, for example: - FS-""*_7 - FS-"$"_; - FS-"%!_= This affects both original sorties written by the game and later ones, so it is not related to any particular mission. As well as F-86 says BN instead of FU. Edited October 2 by hjbb1975 correction 1
Arrow_1974 Posted October 2 Author Posted October 2 @hjbb1975 Quote **The problem** In my 9th FBS / 49th FBG career (F-84E), the tail number in the debriefings and in "Pilots on this mission" is shown undecoded, for example: - FS-""*_7 - FS-"$"_; - FS-"%!_= This affects both original sorties written by the game and later ones, so it is not related to any particular mission. As well as F-86 says BN instead of FU. - that will be fixed with the next version release. Thanks for the bug report Further more I want to address an issue that came up with the newest release of IL-2 Korea v. 1.004: Napalm on airfield structures currently books the same destroyed part again every 2 seconds for the whole ~3 minutes the fire burns. One of my sorties destroyed 13 objects and was credited with 867. That inflates 'killStats', 'score' and 'PCP' (PCP=Player Combat Points. I use this metric for promotions). A napalm hit on a single AA gun counts correctly, so it seems to affect only airfield and building groups. I am currently working on that issue by circumventing/correcting this kill inflation in the mod. Will be released with the next version as well. Arrow_1974 Posted October 2 Author Posted October 2 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.2.0 — napalm, lost sorties, tail codes Gentlemen, This release deals with two game bugs that have been quietly bending career records since the 29 September update, and it is the first version that writes corrections into your career file. Read the first two sections before you install. NAPALM COUNTS THE SAME TARGET OVER AND OVER Napalm burning on an airfield's buildings, tents, ammunition stores and parked aircraft books the same destroyed object again every two seconds for as long as the fire burns - about three minutes. One part, one fire: 90 kills. Several fires on one part: 270, 450, 900. A napalm drop on a lone AA gun counts once, correctly; it is the airfield block groups that go wrong. In my own career one sortie destroyed 13 objects and was credited with 867. Those kills go straight into your kill totals, your score and your PCP, and from there into every award that counts ground targets. The hotfix 1.004b does not change it - I tested it this evening. It is reported to the developers. What 2.2.0 does about it: - The Service Record shows the real kill counts everywhere: combat results, the mission report, best sorties, airframes, squadron totals. It rebuilds them from the game's own record of every destroyed object, which is not affected. - When it opens a career, it writes the corrected kill totals and PCP back into the career file, so the awards and promotions read honest numbers from your next mission on. It touches nothing unless something is inflated, and it takes a backup first, every time. - The awards mod no longer pays a ground-kill award or a promotion in the debrief of a sortie with napalm-sized numbers (60 buildings or 60 ground targets). No honest sortie in six careers came near that; the inflated ones start at 83. If you qualify for real, it arrives on your next flight. Your score (not PCP) is left as the game has it. THE MISSIONS THE GAME FORGOT Between the 29 September update and the hotfix 1.004b of 2 October, the game saved no sortie details at all. The missions were there, the awards and totals moved, but the debriefings stayed empty. Install 1.004b and it stops - and the patch script I handed out to some of you who contacted me is no longer needed; please do not run it again. The missions you already lost come back. The game kept the full debrief of every mission, and 2.2.0 rebuilds the missing sortie rows from it the first time it opens the career. I checked the method against 701 sorties that were saved normally: every field matched on every one. Hector @hjbb1975 worked out the same thing independently and recovered 96 sorties of his own. Thank you, Hector. ALSO - Tail codes: the F-86 shows FU-174 instead of BN-174, and F-84E codes decode at all. Also a fix Hector provided. IF YOU WANT TO UNDO IT Every write is backed up first to %LOCALAPPDATA%\IL2KoreaTracker\backups, next to a record of every original value. Nothing is lost. Arrow_1974 Posted October 3 Author Posted October 3 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.2.1 — hotfix Gentlemen, A quick fix for 2.2.0. Please update if you are on it. - Undo works as described. Copying a backup from %LOCALAPPDATA%\IL2KoreaTracker\backups over your career file now sticks: the tracker notices and leaves the career as you restored it. In 2.2.0 it corrected the file again the next time it opened it. - No more backup pile-up. A backup is made only when the tracker actually writes, never just from opening a career or while the game has the file busy. - Safer writes. The record of your original values is saved before the career file is changed, so an interrupted write can no longer lose it. The napalm bug is still in the game as of hotfix 1.004b, so the correction stays. DOWNLOAD https://github.com/1-Arrow-1/IL2-Korea_Service_Record/releases/tag/v2.2.1 --> Version outdated. Arrow_1974 Posted October 5 Author Posted October 5 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.2.2 — your own pilot photograph Gentlemen, This release adds something rather more personal than another table of figures: your own photograph can now follow your pilot through the career screens. It also brings the Second World War service described in the game's biographies into the Service Record, gives all three nations their own rebuilt display cases, and fixes one remaining problem in the napalm correction. YOUR OWN PILOT PHOTOGRAPH The Career Helper has a new Custom pilot photo page. Give it an ordinary JPG or PNG and it will: - remove the background locally on your own computer; - place you on the same photographic background as the game's portraits; - let you drag and zoom the portrait and clean up its edge; - adjust exposure, contrast and saturation; - add an optional sepia treatment at any strength; and - make the BC7 DDS texture the game expects and attach it only to the pilot in the selected career. No Photoshop and no DDS exporter are required. The background-removal model and texture converter are included, and the photograph is never uploaded anywhere. But do NOT expect miracles. Use a photo that has a distinguishable background. The game normally uses fixed sheets of small portraits on some pages. The mod now makes those pages read the pilot's DDS directly, so the custom picture appears in the formation sheet and event pages as well as the large, medium and small portrait views. Applying or restoring a picture takes a career backup first. Restore original photo puts back the exact portrait path the career had before. Close IL-2 Korea before either operation, as you would before any Career Helper change. and in-game: THE WAR BEFORE KOREA (again an input from Hector @hjbb1975 - thanks) Many of the selectable American and Soviet biographies describe combat in the Second World War, but the Korean career begins with none of that service on the uniform. The Service Record can now derive the campaign decorations that the biography itself supports. For American pilots these include the American Defense Service Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific and European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medals with the campaign stars supported by named operations, and the World War II Victory Medal. Soviet pilots may receive the medals for the Defense of Leningrad or Stalingrad and Victory over Germany or Japan where their biographies say so. Unfortunately I didn't find any suitable picture of the Korean "Fatherland Liberation Fighters Medal (1948)". Therefore only US and USSR are getting WW2 campaign awards. They appear in the ribbon rack, on full dress and in the display case, including careers already in progress. They are shown as prior service, without inventing Korean War award dates or inserting tracker-only rows into the career file or the game's own awards screen. NEW DISPLAY CASES The USAF, Soviet and North Korean records now each use their own frame and glass. The wider American and Soviet cases make room for the prior-service medals without shrinking them into a pile; the North Korean case uses its own smaller proportions instead of borrowing the American furniture. The brass plate now carries the squadron beneath the pilot's rank and name. Crowded ribbon and medal groups have been rebalanced, and Save picture writes a full-resolution JPEG. On a typical case that reduces the saved picture from about 7.1 MB to 0.9 MB without changing its dimensions. NAPALM CORRECTION The automatic correction no longer pins an affected pilot's PCP to one lifetime value. It keeps an incremental checkpoint and applies only the new napalm excess, so a manual PCP adjustment remains in place. It still handles the game's later writeback of the uncorrected value, and Undo preserves any manual offset made after the first correction. The correction also fails closed if a future game update changes the shape of the kill-category data, and sortie recovery now logs an unexpected formation mismatch instead of silently dropping rows. ALSO - Aircraft-report and evading event records introduced by the September game update are now identified (Event types 35 & 36). They are deliberately kept out of Other Incidences because they describe aircraft state and temporary evasion, not separate events in a pilot's service history. - Custom photographs work in all known career portrait views without editing the game's fixed small-photo atlases. Arrow_1974 Posted October 6 Author Posted October 6 IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.2.3 — hotfix for custom portraits Gentlemen, If you are on 2.2.2 and gave your pilot a custom portrait with the Career Helper, please update now. THE PROBLEM The game only accepts a portrait name of up to 15 characters. 2.2.2 wrote a longer one, and from then on the game crashed to the desktop every time the career moved on to a new day. THE FIX - 2.2.3 gives custom portraits a short name the game can handle. - If your career is already affected, open it once in the Service Record after updating. It moves your portrait to the short name and repairs the career automatically, with a backup first. Your portrait stays. - After that, the next day works again. Nothing else in your career changes. ALSO - New: the pilot biography. The story the game writes for your pilot is now laid out as a book on a desk, and you can leaf through it page by page. hjbb1975 Posted October 7 Posted October 7 (edited) With AI help, this will be almost all the in-game medals. I believe one is missing. As far as I know, it's almost impossible to get more than one medal above the Silver Star. Edited October 7 by hjbb1975 addition
Arrow_1974 Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 (edited) @hjbb1975 That looks complete to me. Quote As far as I know, it's almost impossible to get more than one medal above the Silver Star It is possible, actually. Two things stood in the way, and both are solved now. 1. The noAwards bug (fixed in 1.004) The Silver Star and the DSC carry noAwards=1 in Awards.cfg, meaning "only if nothing has been awarded yet in this debrief". Before 1.004 the game's own code for that flag was faulty, so the condition didn't work as intended and the Silver Star and DSC hardly ever came through. Update 1.004 rewrote that part of the career engine. Comparing the old and new careerProcessor.dll shows it plainly, and since then the condition behaves exactly as described. 2. The order of the stock file (still there in 1.004) The game works through Awards.cfg from top to bottom after every mission, and the stock file runs from the lowest award to the highest: Air Medal, Bronze Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Legion of Merit, then Silver Star, DSC and Medal of Honor. The Air Medal and the DFC are cumulative: they count your career totals (kills, sorties, hours). While you are still climbing those two ladders, almost every sortie with a kill earns the next Air Medal or DFC cluster first, and that uses up the one slot. The Silver Star and the DSC still don't get their turn. On top of that: the DFC requires the 6th Air Medal (the Silver Oak Leaf Cluster); the Silver Star asks for "2 or more kills" and comes before the DSC in the file, so even a 4-kill sortie gives you a Silver Star instead of a DSC until the Silver Star ladder is full. So even with the fix, in stock you have to work through all the Air Medals and DFCs before the higher awards show up. What my restructured Awards.cfg changes Highest first: the decorations run in order of precedence: Medal of Honor, DSC, DSM, Silver Star, Legion of Merit, DFC, Soldier's Medal, Bronze Star, Air Medal, Commendation Ribbon. A sortie earns the single highest decoration it qualifies for. The lower ones wait for a later mission instead of blocking the higher one. The higher the kill count, the higher the award, all in a single sortie: Silver Star from 2 air kills, DSC from 4, Medal of Honor from 6 (or 5 if you are wounded). Once you hold the full ladder of a decoration, the next one down takes its place. So a pilot who already has the Medal of Honor with its cluster still gets a DSC for his next 6-kill sortie. No ladders to work through first: you don't need all the Air Medals or DFCs before the higher awards. The DFC only requires the 4th Air Medal instead of the 6th. In the F-86 interceptor squadrons the Silver Star and DSC aren't automatic, because kills come more easily there: Silver Star 60% at 2 kills, 80% at 3 or more; DSC 60% at 4 kills, 80% at 5 or more. A failed DSC roll can still bring a Silver Star, like a recommendation that was downgraded. The Medal of Honor is never left to chance. The Purple Heart, the badges, the campaign and service medals and the unit citations aren't affected. They never compete for the slot. Arrow_1974 Posted October 7 Author Posted October 7 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.2.4 — personnel files, your own biography, a squadron forecast Gentlemen, 2.2.4 is out. It brings a few things you asked for, some I wanted myself, and one fix that matters if you are on game update 1.004. FIX FOR GAME UPDATE 1.004 - The mod replaces two of the game's career screens so custom portraits show in the game. Its copies were older than 1.004 and hid the update's own changes, such as the pending-awards marker. Both are now rebuilt from the 1.004 originals, with only the portrait change made. - If a future game update changes those screens again, the career page now says so instead of hiding the update quietly. NEW: THE PERSONNEL FILE (USAF) - One printable document per pilot: cover sheet with photo, record of service, his commissions, his award certificates, the biography, the flight record (two months to a page) and the shadowbox. - Every promotion now comes with a commission from the President, filled in by hand and signed by the officials in office on that date. To have the correct font displayed, go to Correct font for promotion certificates. Unzip and copy the file to Windows\Fonts. If you do not download/install that font, a fallback font will be used instead. It is close but not 100% matching. - One certificate per decoration as he wears it. The earlier awards of each ladder are listed in the record of service with their citations. - Print it, or choose "Save as PDF" for a file to keep or post. - Soviet, Chinese and North Korean files will follow. NEW IN THE CAREER HELPER: YOUR OWN BIOGRAPHY - The game shows your biography only when you create the career. The new Biography tab lets you rewrite it at any time. The Service Record shows your version, with your name, birth date and starting rank filled in. - Choose which World War II medals your pilot earned before Korea (USAF and Soviet pilots). They appear on his uniforms and in the shadowbox. - Share out your booster points again - skill, discipline and courage - at most 3 per attribute plus one for every promotion. The game is not touched by the text or the medals; the boosters are written to the career, with a backup first. NEW IN THE SERVICE RECORD - Squadron statistics: click the + beside RANK and every pilot shows what he still needs for his next promotion. - Materiel forecast: what a flying day costs the squadron in fuel, ordnance and equipment, what the next week, fortnight and month should cost at your pace, and how long your stocks last. From now on the tracker measures the real consumption from your stocks and uses that once it has three flying days. - Medals have a proper shadow again, in the record and in the shadowbox, and the oak leaf clusters and stars stand off the ribbon. - The flight record shortens long ranks (Lt. Colonel, Brig. General) so the GRADE box is never cut off. - A certificate opened from the record now closes its tab when you go back, like the flight record and the war diary. AWARDS MOD - Silver Star and DSC no longer stop at a fixed number of kills. A sortie earns the highest decoration it qualifies for: Silver Star from 2 air kills, DSC from 4, Medal of Honor from 6. Once you hold the full ladder of one, the next one down takes its place - a pilot who already has the Medal of Honor with its cluster now gets a DSC for his next 6-kill sortie instead of nothing. - In the F-86 squadrons the Silver Star and DSC still have to be approved: 60% at the lower kill count, 80% above it. A failed DSC can still bring a Silver Star. - These rules apply to the USAF. Navy and Marine Corps decorations work the old way for now. The personnel file now exists for every air force you can fly, the Chinese pilots finally have decorations worth earning, and from this version on the Career Helper can update the whole package itself. UPDATES FROM INSIDE THE CAREER HELPER - A new tab, "Update IL-2 Korea Service Record", shows your version and checks for a newer release when you ask it to - never by itself. - One click downloads the new release, checks it and installs it: the tracker, the Helper and the awards mod in the game folder, keeping your folders and your promotion choice. Close the game first. - Nothing is installed unless the download matches GitHub's checksum and carries the same signature as the program you are running. - This version still has to be installed by hand. From here on, the Helper does it. NEW: PERSONNEL FILES FOR THE PRC, THE USSR AND NORTH KOREA Each file is written in its own air force's language, as it would have been kept. Point at any line and it is translated into yours. - Chinese pilots: a cadre record, the merit booklet with one entry for every merit, the Air Force certificate for First and Special Class merit (after Hua Longyi's of 1951) and a page for the Combat Hero. - Soviet pilots: the personal file, record of service, the commander's attestation, the order extracts for each promotion, the order booklet, the Hero of the Soviet Union certificate and the nomination sheets. - North Korean pilots: the cadre record, an order booklet for each order, the Presidium's certificate for a Hero, and the biography in Korean. - Navy and Marine Corps pilots get the U.S. file with their own commission, the Navy's Aviator's Flight Log Book and the Navy's own certificates - ready for the day the game gives us naval squadrons. AWARDS MOD - Chinese pilots earn merit for air victories in one sortie: Third Class from 2, Second Class from 3, First Class from 4, Special Class from 6. On top of a merit, the Combat Hero Medal in three classes. - Navy and Marine Corps decorations now work like the Air Force ones: a sortie earns the highest decoration it qualifies for. - The Navy's flag ranks are Rear Admiral (LH) and Rear Admiral (UH). NEW IN THE SERVICE RECORD - Every career card on the start page carries a briefing: your next promotion, aircraft ready, promotions and awards due, the store that runs out first, the next aircraft back from repair. - The Army of Occupation Medal can be chosen as a World War II medal - contributed by Héctor @hjbb1975, with thanks. Navy and Marine pilots can now choose their World War II medals too. - The nameplate in the shadowbox always fits its frame: the rank is abbreviated, the first name shortened if need be, the unit set smaller. - The Russian nomination sheets are typed at a readable size, and their figures read correctly ("41 боевой вылет"). FIXES - Career Helper, custom pilot photo: "Restore original photo" could fail after an earlier photo. Fixed, and the tab now shows the portrait the career uses. Arrow_1974 Posted October 10 Author Posted October 10 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.4.0 — combat mission reports Gentlemen, 2.4.0 turns every mission debriefing into a proper Combat Mission Report. The new report brings the route, crew, combat log and weapon results together in one navigable manila folder, using the information recorded by the game's flight logs. IMPORTANT: ONE MANUAL UPDATE If you are running 2.3.0, download and run the 2.4.0 installer manually. The updater in 2.3.0 compares the exact signing certificate, but Microsoft Artifact Signing renews that short-lived certificate every day. It can therefore report that the installer was signed by a different certificate even though both signatures are valid and belong to the same publisher. The updater in 2.4.0 checks the durable Artifact Signing profile identity instead. It still requires GitHub's matching SHA-256 digest and a valid Windows Authenticode signature. Future certificate renewals will no longer interrupt normal in-app updates. NEW: COMBAT MISSION REPORTS Open "Combat mission report" under Mission Debriefings for any flown mission. - The first spread records the pilot, unit, date, mission, aircraft, tail number, flight time and outcome, followed by the combat results, mission route, briefing, flight roster and chronological combat log. - The second spread is the gunnery and weapons analysis: weapons loaded, expended and returned, recorded impacts, hit rate, attack passes, targets struck and a short summary of the sortie. - Move through the career with the previous and next mission buttons, or print the report. - The report uses the language selected for the Service Record. - Long pilot names keep the surname visible by abbreviating the rank first and the first name only when necessary. GUNS, ROCKETS AND BOMBS - Gun figures count the player's fired rounds and recorded projectile impacts. A hit rate is shown when the flight log contains complete ammunition figures. - Rockets record direct impacts separately. - A bomb counts as a hit when its blast destroys at least one target. The number in parentheses shows how many targets that bomb destroyed. - Napalm cannot claim the same target repeatedly: the report uses the same correction as the Player Career Points calculation. - Cluster weapons are recognized as complete canisters. Their bomblets are consolidated into the parent weapon, so one canister counts as no more than one hit while all targets destroyed by it remain visible. - When corrected flight time is enabled, the report uses that corrected time too. MISSION MAP - Use the mouse wheel to zoom the mission route. - Hold and drag the map to move around it. - Route markers and the recorded track make the sortie easier to follow without leaving the report. RECORD ROOM VISUAL REFRESH - The former mission-details view and combat section are now one report, so the same mission information is no longer shown twice. - The Service Record columns, operations map, aircraft and squadron statistics now share one warm paper stock with subtle grain. - Flight Record, War Diary and Personnel File use the same paper treatment. Printed Personnel Files remain clean white for readable paper copies. FIXES - The manila folder and its type now scale properly on large displays. - The final attack-pass line is no longer clipped. - Scrollbars match the paper instead of standing out from it. Arrow_1974 Posted October 12 Author Posted October 12 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.5.0 — newspapers and aircraft histories Gentlemen, 2.5.0 adds two new records to the career archive and continues the work on Combat Mission Reports. The War Diary can now open the newspaper published on that date, and the new Airframe Record follows every aircraft in the squadron through sorties, pilots, damage and repair. NEW: NEWSPAPERS IN THE WAR DIARY - When the game has a newspaper issue for a War Diary date, a Newspaper button appears beside that entry. - The issue opens as a period newspaper with the game's own headline, article text and photographs. - Previous and next controls move through the available issues attached to the diary. - Western careers receive the western paper; Soviet, Chinese and North Korean careers receive the eastern paper. - The newspaper follows the Service Record language. Because the game does not contain Spanish newspaper text, the Spanish interface clearly marks the English article used as a fallback. NEW: AIRFRAME RECORD Open "Airframe Record" from the top of the Service Record. - The Squadron Aircraft Register lists every aircraft, its type, current condition and number of sorties. - Select an aircraft to open its Individual Aircraft Record: date received, usual pilot, present status, victories and targets, repair history and a complete sortie log. - The ledger uses the supplied period binder artwork and supports previous and next controls that move exactly one printed row at a time, keeping every entry aligned with the form. - Long records remain accessible without allowing text to drift across the printed grid, and the complete ledger has a clean landscape print layout. - The former duplicate Airframes table was removed from the Aircraft panel; strength, repair, delivery and logistics information remains there. COMBAT MISSION REPORT IMPROVEMENTS - Mission Details once again records who did what across the complete flight, including the named pilot responsible for every recorded destruction. The player's damage events remain in the same chronological log. - Long combat logs continue onto dedicated Mission Combat Log spreads instead of being cut off. The first Details sheet keeps the entries that fit; later sheets use up to 35 rows per page. - Long Gunnery Analysis mission lists now continue onto additional report pages instead of hiding earlier missions behind a short note. - Gunnery data notices newly written flight logs while Service Record remains open, so a completed sortie no longer requires an application restart before its analysis appears. - Flight logs are matched to the recorded aircraft and mission more strictly. This prevents unrelated sorties, such as an F-86 log, from appearing in a P-51 career merely because their dates and times were similar. ARTWORK AND INTERFACE - Eastern aircraft now use the eastern briefing-room scene on the career selection page. - Chinese, Soviet and North Korean Flight Records and Airframe Records use the eastern flightline; U.S. careers retain the American scene. - Career Helper and Close the Service Record now have distinct, period-fitting colors in the Service Record header. - The Career Helper Update page now includes a GitHub Star button and optional PayPal and Venmo donation links. The Service Record remains free; stars help other pilots discover it, while donations help cover the project's actual expenses. Development time is not included in those expenses. Arrow_1974 Posted October 13 Author Posted October 13 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.6.0 — Pilot's Notes, squadron portrait and the 13 October game update Gentlemen, 2.6.0 brings Service Record back in line with the game after the update of 13 October, and adds two new documents to the career archive: Pilot's Notes for the aircraft you fly and a formal portrait of the whole squadron. PLEASE UPDATE: GAME UPDATE OF 13 OCTOBER The game update of 13 October changed the way IL-2 Korea stores its data files. Earlier versions of Service Record could no longer read them, so names, medal and rank artwork, portraits, the map, newspapers and briefings could appear blank or as raw text keys. - 2.6.0 reads the game files as they are now, and still reads them as they were for anyone who has not taken the update yet. - Should a future game update change the files again, Service Record now falls back to the copies it read earlier instead of showing nothing. - The first start after a game update takes a few seconds longer while Service Record reads the game's file lists once; later starts are as fast as before. NEW: PILOT'S NOTES Open "Pilot's Notes" from the top of the Service Record. - The game's own handbook for the aircraft you fly: the type of your latest sortie, or your squadron's before the first one. All eight flyable types are covered: F-51D, F-80C, F-84E, F-86A, Il-10, La-11, MiG-15bis and Yak-9P. - The cover is a blueprint drawn from the game's own three-view drawings, with centre lines, dimension lines and a title block issued to your pilot. American types read as a USAF Technical Order; Soviet types as an "Instruction to the Pilot" in the lighter blueprint style with slanted drafting script. - Characteristics: the full data sheet and the performance curves (speed, climb, G-load, turn time, engine power) drawn on graph paper. - Flight Manual: start-up, take-off, flight, landing, restrictions and the engine-mode table, with the warnings in red. - Cockpit Layout: every cockpit panel as a numbered drawing. Point at a number to read about that instrument; click it to keep the description while you look around, click again to release it. - Historical Data: the type's development and service history. - American aircraft give imperial units with metric in brackets, Soviet aircraft metric with imperial in brackets. - Everything follows the Service Record language, using the game's own translations. - Prints as a proper handbook: blueprint cover, white pages with margins, each cockpit drawing on the page with its heading and all its numbered descriptions. NEW: SQUADRON PORTRAIT Open "Squadron Portrait" from the top of the Service Record. - Every pilot of the squadron on one formal group photograph, fifteen to a page, with rank insignia and name on each nameplate; the fallen are marked. - The heading carries the squadron badge and the national emblem: the Air Force seal, the Navy and Marine Corps arms, the Soviet and North Korean coats of arms, and the PLA Air Force star for Chinese squadrons. - Click a pilot to open their record. The portrait prints in landscape. AWARDS MOD - The Distinguished Flying Cross now follows the highest Air Medal (one silver oak leaf cluster), as the game's own awards file does since the October updates. Decorations already awarded are kept. OTHER CHANGES - Reserve pilots on the roster now carry a stamp instead of plain text. Arrow_1974 Posted October 15 Author Posted October 15 (edited) IL-2 Korea Service Record 2.6.1 — In Memoriam, unit histories and the 1.005 follow-ups Gentlemen, 2.6.1 gives the squadron's fallen a place of their own, opens the history of every unit, and catches up with a few things the game update of 13 October changed. NEW: IN MEMORIAM Open "Squadron Portrait" and press "Memorial" in its toolbar. The button appears once your squadron has lost someone. - The killed in action rest in a cemetery of their own country, each with a headstone cut as it would have been at the time: - United States: the white government headstone, with name, rank and service, unit, KOREA, dates of birth and death, and the decorations the pilot held (DFC, AM, PH and so on). - Soviet Union: an obelisk with a red star and the pilot's portrait in an enamel oval, his rank, surname, first name and patronymic, and the years, in Russian. - China: a Volunteers' martyr's stone with red characters read from the right: unit and post, the name with "tomb of the martyr", and the day he fell. - North Korea: Hangul under the star: regiment, rank, name and dates. - Flowers lie at some of the graves, as visitors leave them. - The missing in action have no grave. Their names are engraved on a memorial wall instead, among the names of all the others the wall records, under its dedication in the country's own language (point at it for the translation), with a wreath before it and words on its ribbons. - Point at a stone or a name to see the pilot's photograph, rank, dates and highest decoration in your language. Click it to open his record. - The game records a birth date only for the player. For the AI pilots the memorial gives a plausible one for their rank, which never changes. SQUADRON PORTRAIT - The portrait now shows the squadron as it stands, active pilots and reserve; the fallen have their place on the memorial. - American squadrons stand before the flag of 1951, with its 48 stars. - The photographs look like one series taken for the portrait: the same tone and grain, the cloth's folds running over them, and each name on a small paper label pinned beneath. NEW: UNIT HISTORY - Click the squadron emblem in Squadron Statistics, or the new "Unit history" link under it, to read the game's own history of the unit, from its formation to Korea, on the paper of the service record. - Every squadron the game has a history for: American, Soviet, Chinese and North Korean, in your language. AFTER THE GAME UPDATE OF 13 OCTOBER - The two new AI pontoon ferries, the American M2 and the Soviet N2P, have no name in the game. Service Record now names them in all six languages instead of listing a sunk one as scenery. - A ship you sink is now counted once. The game added a ship subtotal to its kill statistics, which earlier versions counted a second time in your ground targets. - Combat reports and debriefings no longer show map labels such as "FARICON" or "AAA" after a destroyed ground target. A victim's name is shown only for aircraft, where it is the pilot. AWARDS MOD - Bronze Star Medal with "V" device: no longer awarded. The V was for valour in ground combat, which the game does not model, so it came down to chance and turned up far too often. Medals already awarded are kept, and their holders still receive their oak leaf clusters. - Senior Pilot Wings now need 70 completed sorties (was 60), or 200 flying hours as before. Wings already awarded are kept. - The award progress list no longer offers a decoration the game will not give: an award that a higher one has replaced no longer counts as held. OTHER CHANGES - The version number is shown next to the title on the start page. - Career Helper windows carry the Service Record icon. - Service Record and Career Helper are now built differently. The installation folder looks different, and the update tidies up the old files.
