Ok, here's another question, specific to the F-86 model. We can choose which gun sight we want installed in the airplane, and the choice affects the model's appearance. The earliest gun sight (K-18) gives you the external model with the early all-composite intake. The later gun sight (A-1CM) choice results in the more familiar aluminum intake with the small radome at the 12 o'clock position. Right now the model always reverts to the all-composite intake. Would it be possible to have the intake choice be selectable in the loadout menu?

Also, I can't seem to select the 120 gal drop tanks, I get the error "Game asset missing: Graphics/planes/f86a5/f86a5-tank-120gll.txt"

Thanks for reporting this, it appears to be just one of many similar issues which I am now fixing.

IL-2 Korea support in PRISM is suspended

Following today’s IL-2 Korea update, PRISM can no longer open Korea aircraft, so IL-2 Korea support is suspended for now.

  • From the next PRISM build, the Korea logo is dimmed, and Korea projects and the Korea hangar show a short notice instead of opening.
  • Your Korea projects and liveries are not deleted. They stay on your PC, ready for when support returns.
  • IL-2 Great Battles, including Tank Crew and Flying Circus, is not affected.

We hope to bring Korea back and will share news when we have it.

Arrrrrrggggghhhh. Haven’t fired up the game since the latest update. Seeing as how I’m spending most of my time in PRISM, maybe I won’t bother updating the game for now.

Out of curiosity, will an old version work with the updated Il-2 Korea? I'm just curious since Il-2 Korea is primarily what I was using it for, annnnnnnnnnd I stupidly clicked to update before properly reading the update notes...

Unfortunately older versions of Prism will not work with v1.005 onward, as the game assets it needs from your game install is now locked behind encryption.

Disappointing as this was a dream come true for me. I think this mod could've brought in a lot of new talent for the skinning community.

I am discussing options with the dev team. Support for Korea may return if it works out.

I'm surprised to discover that there's no skin Viewer with Korea, so I guess the answer is no?

That's why your skin viewer was so helpfull for every skinner. It's a shame that the update broke everything... I do hope the dev will give you the tools to repair PRISM.

+1. PRISM has been a game changer, no pun intended. Here's hoping the team will allow support. Will only increase user created content and interest in the sim.

i really miss Prism and the viewer options for Korea skins, it's a lot more work now without any viewer. I'll keep burning candles every sunday, but in what church?

Added: PS just found a workaround, running PRISM 2.38 with an old 1.002 backup and it's skins folder doing my edits from there.

Don't start the 1.002 launcher there !!! Only run IL2Series.exe from it's bin folder to avoid updating Korea to 1.005 automatically. But you wont need the game running anyway, just set PRISM 0.2.38 to load the skins in the 1.002 game folder. Copy the dds files from there to your "normal" 1.005 game skins folder manually to use them in the game. You could use HSD to manage that after up loading them.

It's definitely tougher to make the time to skin now without PRISM, because it's just so damn useful. Being able to quickly find a part on the template and refresh to see changes is hard to go back to.

Haluter has made the equivalent of TrackIR for skin creation. You can definitely do it without it, but once you experience PRISM, it's tough to want to do it at all without it. Here's hoping the Il-2 Devs can help him find a nice solution that gets it back up and running!

Dear 1C,

This message is from loyal IL-2 Fans to show how much Haluter's "Prism " program is loved.

His report said he and your Devs are working on the issue, and we fans hope it can be resolved as well.

But I also wanted to show in one place where we can all give our upvotes, approvals, or replies, showing that love for both IL-2 Korea and Prism in a single place.

So to all you IL-2 and Prism fans, let's see your clicks for both IL-2 and Prism!

I'm honestly really confused by all of this, why realese official skins only to lock them down?  What am I missing here?

Posted (edited)

At the moment I can't play the game anymore unless I update to 1.005. I tried JollyJack's workaround with 1.004 but no dice, just tells me to update. Beta also tells me to update to 1.005, so there's no way for me to view my liveries in game unless I do the update, and then I lose PRISM. Since I'm spending more time skinning than flying these days I seriously have no interest in updating my game! Waiting to hear how the negots go with the devs...

Canadair Sabre Mk.2 19150 of No. 441 (Silver Fox) Squadron, RCAF Station North Luffenham, England, early 1950s. Personal mount of Squadron Leader Andy MacKenzie, DFC. While serving as an exchange pilot with the USAF, MacKenzie was shot down in a friendly fire incident over North Korea and captured. He then spent two years in a Communist POW camp in China before being released in 1954.

The checkers were a challenge and would have been almost impossible without PRISM!
