I just hope that they announce the aircraft list and that it includes the Skyraider and Sea Fury.

I have pretty much given up hope of ever getting The F-82, but I would sure like to fly one in the virtual sky someday.

Well, there are significant incompatibilities in terms of the existing assets (e.g. existing aircraft don't support PBR, don't have as sophisticated flight models, or as complex damage models).

However, depending on how modular the code is - it may not be impossible that they could do some thing like introduce infantry to Great Battles or some AI improvements. It really depends on how much some of these new features rely on other parts of the new engine, and how many interactions there are. Of course, there is also the decision of whether it is worth the effort - or whether they should start recreating some of these modules in the new engine instead... anyway, we don't really know.
