I just hope that they announce the aircraft list and that it includes the Skyraider and Sea Fury.

I have pretty much given up hope of ever getting The F-82, but I would sure like to fly one in the virtual sky someday.

Well, there are significant incompatibilities in terms of the existing assets (e.g. existing aircraft don't support PBR, don't have as sophisticated flight models, or as complex damage models).

However, depending on how modular the code is - it may not be impossible that they could do some thing like introduce infantry to Great Battles or some AI improvements. It really depends on how much some of these new features rely on other parts of the new engine, and how many interactions there are. Of course, there is also the decision of whether it is worth the effort - or whether they should start recreating some of these modules in the new engine instead... anyway, we don't really know.

I don’t think it can, sadly. But I hope one day we will see all the Great Battles content remade from scratch for the new series. 

I can see why some might not want the IL-2 dev team to do what Disney does with their old films - make a reboot - but I don’t think IL-2 could omit parts of the Eastern Front like Moscow, Leningrad and Stalingrad. They were all too significant, and their names as part of the titles alone would be an eye-catcher - in my honest opinion though, so take it with a grain of salt.

While it sounds laughable, and highly improbable at this point to be next, I think the new game engine could take a Battle of France, Battle of Britain and the Med/North Africa module. I assume the complex map of Korea was the real test for what can be modelled in the game.

I may be wrong, so please correct me if I am. It would be good to know.

For me Korea was a smart testbed from the start: from here you can go anywhere: props, jets, large cities, mountains, water, radar, naval operations (in the dlc, hoping).No better way to test new engine and features, than with a bit from every aspect. 

But where to go next? Well, I would go where the most consistent batch of buyers want to go.

Let's pray to be healthy and wealthy and wait to see. In the meantime, let's enjoy this new Korea setup: I guess at least 2 yrs from launch it will still add new features and improvements.

they've specified in a previous blog that "from this time frame (Korea) we will go only backwards in time". But plans might change and who knows what will happen? 

I'm very anxious to hear the much expected new news. As i've said before, i'm a timeline guy. For me what&when is like space&time. Like love & marrige. Can't have one without the other. (The Bundy family....)

They definitely won't announce a new title for now, I'm sure. At most, we'll hear some information about DLC. Vietnam would be cool (as well as conflicts in the Middle East—Israel, Egypt, and the surrounding area), but the Pacific Theater and World War II are more likely the focus. That, too, has high expectations. Maybe we'll learn something about it in 2027.

Infantry is already there 😉

I wouldn't hope for anything big though. It's possible that with the upcoming bomber DLC, we might see a few small improvements or bugfixes, but essentially GB is done.

Regarding the next module; the Devs have already unofficially announced the Pacific.

Frankly I can't wait for the Pacific.

I'm having fun with Korea, the ground attack aspects are phenomenal, but in the end, I just don't like flying jets.  I never have.  I really want to "climb into" an F4F or A6M2N again, or fly over the jungles of New Guinea in a Ki61 or P40N.  That is my happy place.  Hence I am excited about getting the Essex class carrier in Korea, and the Corsair and hopefully more naval aircraft.

I honestly think we'll be going to the Pacific, and I can't wait. I like the early props though myself (always have in the whole il2 series)

I remember when back in 2022 it was announced that the work on a new game has begun - without naming the theatre of operations. That is four years ago now.

I strongly believe the devs will now concentrate for the following years on IL-2:Korea. IL-2GB will be continued as sidekick.

And Korea was the perfect choice: You can serve three large communities, the US, the Russian and the Chinese. You have jets and props but no sophisticated radar. Land and sea. 

I think it is a little bit early to think three weeks after release of Korea about a new theatre of ops. Perhaps later. But for now, the refinement has priority for sure.

Korea can certainly be refined and expanded, but as much as I love it one side is always going to be restricted in aircraft choice.

I couldn't be happier than with the Korea scenario, early jets are my favorites, and late props come close, I hope they will keep focus on it.

The only other scenario that might intrigue me more would be the Spanish Civil war due to the quirkiness of all those fascinating late 'thirties airframes, also combination of maneuverability and smaller caliber weapons might make it a dogfight heaven.

Yeah, my hope is that it'll be a 1942-1943 scenario with some IJA activity (Ki-43?) rather than a carrier focussed scenario like Midway/Coral Sea or a 1944 scenario when the odds are really unbalanced.

The Spanish Civil War is a bit like Korea in that it has a split plane set:

Well established sharp turning fighter bombers: I-15 Bis, He-51C-1, CR-32ter

vs.

Experimental air-superiority fighters (which have more speed but can't turn as well): Bf-109B, I-16 s.5, D.371/D.372, He-112

It is just that it is Biplane vs. Monoplane instead of Prop vs. Jet!

Solomon Islands. Lots for everyone. Land-based, carrier-based, large dogfights, ground pounding, and air superiority was heavily contested for a reasonable period with quite a variety of interesting aircraft involved. They'd need to make it a really big map though, but since it's mostly water, maybe that is doable.

That said, I'd also love to fly over Dunkirk in an early Spitfire Mk.I in this sim.

Hi. A-1H have never been used in Korea, where did this idea come from?

Personally I would like to see AD-2 or possibly AD-4N or NL.
