Cellinsky Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I wonder how much the difficulty setting is affect awards and medals, recourses etc. I mean I can make it almost suicidal or a walk in the park. I played balanced carrieres so far.
Uther Posted August 13 Posted August 13 I think there needs to be more award points tbh. There shouldn't be guys waiting for wound badges because you don't have enough points... 2 9800X3D / Asus Radeon RX 7900 XT TUF OC / Corsair Vengeance EXPO 64GB / W11

Voxman Posted August 14 Posted August 14 What are the conditions to "fire" a pilot? I would think you would "transfer" a pilot to another group instead of "fire"? Viking1 Posted August 14 Posted August 14 (edited) Rn its anyone's guess. Ive been approaching this 2 ways. First, I check through all my pilots files at least every 2 missions. ( a lot of work we need a better summary interface for squadron performance). If they havent hit a single target I move them to reserve. And this ESPECIALLY after I have awarded or promoted them earlier. performance is supposed to improve with awards so when it doesn't happen I demote them. Second, when new pilots arrive they come with a base set of qualities PLUS boosters. If they arrive with less than a total of four and only a single booster I dont keep them in my outfit. And there's a third consideration but not sure how to quantify. If you let the roster get too full of dead weight it does not seem possible to use points to get new guys. Interesting approach, and will give it a try. I have noticed the dead weight roster issue. I wonder if it's a bug. 1 Computer: AMD 7800x3D, Nvidia 5070Ti, 64Gb DDR5-6000. MJones Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Are the promotion points restricted to the original pool of 20? I've been flying from April into early September and still have the original pool of points. I've been very stingy awarding promotions to include things like Purple Hearts which are automatic for certain categories of wounds in the US military. Those things are less 'awarded' and more 'owed' to someone who has been killed or wounded. Right now, my standard is 'go to the hospital for more than a week' and you get a PH. Survive more than 10 missions with good results and you get the pilots badge. Start racking up kills above 20 while flying more than 10 missions and other awards come into play.
Uther Posted August 16 Posted August 16 (edited) Yeah I think I was doing it wrong in my first careers, with handing out pilot badges to everyone that showed up, thinking that there'd be a lot more award points coming. I keep a load back now for the important stuff. Edited August 16 by Uther 1 9800X3D / Asus Radeon RX 7900 XT TUF OC / Corsair Vengeance EXPO 64GB / W11

I treat it more like the permission to put the squadron emblem on their kite and just assume they have wings....because they do or they wouldn't be in a squadron. 1 hour ago, Uther said: Yes that's why I was doling them out to every pilot, but after the first pile of award points they seem to dry up far too quickly. Voxman Posted August 16 Posted August 16 Should be able to demote them when they don't follow orders...hahaha. Just joking, but yeah, holding back on awards may be the key. I was doling out wings after their first battle mission. Then the points dried up and couldn't give out purple hearts....so, yes, there needs to be a little more work done on this award system. GregD Posted August 19 Posted August 19 This is where the game drive me nuts, much as I love it.. I have been trying to fly missions on that plane for days and nothing, I'm never "in" and the only option is to dispatch my squadron... I figured out plane replacement, assigning pilots, replacing with reserves, but I don't know what I'm not doing here...I'm sure it's something simple but that is where the doc (if any?) fails me.. My "flight" is in a dotted blue box with a D.. What does it mean ? how can I assign myself to fly? Do I need to move my pilot to another wing ? I've FFWD'ed several days to no avail and never get assigned.. This needs more explanations IMO, or at least a mode where you get to fly more (like all the missions please)
Jade_Monkey Posted August 19 Posted August 19 I think that the dotted blue box is designated for the pilots on airfield defense duty which occurs randomly after the selected missions take place for that day. Try to undo that and assign yourself to some real missions or just restart a fresh career if you don’t know how to undo it. 1 2 AMD Ryzen 5800X3D | Nvidia RTX 4090 | 32 GB DDR4 | nVME SSD | VR headset: Pimax Dream Air SLAM
AndreiTomescu Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Unassign yourself from the duty rooster/airfield defense. Then assign your flight to whatever mission you choose. You can simply fly all missions, but not if you're on duty rooster.
Justicier10-7 Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Maybe it would be best for "Duty Roster" to be renamed to something like "Alert Wing" or "Scramble Reserve". Either that or simply adding mouse-over tooltips to many career functions would help tremendously to clear up confusion. Only seeing the explanations of all the UI elements for the first time at the start of a career playthrough can be easy to forget and not as intuitive as a quick mouse-over info box. 1 1
GregD Posted August 19 Posted August 19 Thank you for the replies, moving the thread, etc.. Even armed with your explanations, It still took me 5 minutes to find the on duty section... I'm not gonna criticize this feature, as I am sure some folks enjoy it and all is good.. I wish however there was a career mode like in great battles where I get to fly missions with the same guy and see if I make it, none of that management malarkey 😉 Feature request ?
AndreiTomescu Posted August 19 Posted August 19 You can fly with the same guy/guys as your wingman as you please. I was sooo upset when my buddy died.... 🙂 The new one, I've chosen a newcomer, is a bit of an idiot. But i'm trying to raise his skills and motivate him. So far, it doesn't work as planned: still an idiot. But the remaining good ones I have to keep as flight or at least section leaders. 3
nachinus Posted 12 hours ago Posted 12 hours ago Jumping on this thread to ask: Is there any way to change the whole unit's livery? I know how to modify each individual plane livery, but I can't see how to modify the squadron's default one.
jack333 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago Hi, how do I get these improvement points to promote medals? Thanks and regards
FPGT72 Posted 4 hours ago Posted 4 hours ago (edited) I to am thinking there needs to be some adjustment to the general points system. I am 23% into my F51 tour 18-oct-1951 and have not seen a "promotion point" in ages. My pilots do come up for more rewards but I can't do anything about it. I have not done any auto assign of missions, I think that was suggested so I will give that a go. As to the request points I am sitting on almost 550. I could supply the entire Korean war effort alone. There does need some tuning to this metric I think. I think that some munition types should cost more, napalm might "cost" twice or three times as many points to use vs an iron bomb. I don't know, but I do think that it does need some polish, it is very good but you can see how this could be fantastic. I would like to see "command" give you an order to attack this or that and not give you total control. I would like to see an estimate on what to expect to see past watch out for enemy fighters. Things like high levels of small AA guns 37mm and below. Heavy AAA expected with smaller calibers closer to the target. Just my two bits.....back to killing some norks and chicoms. 21 minutes ago, jack333 said: Hi, how do I get these improvement points to promote medals?
