Can I actually run Korea?

So, quick question, my PC, isn't exactly top of the range, more like a mid range rig. I'm running a RTX3080 (10gb), with 32gm ram and a 5600x. I'm not a VR user, now, can I actually run it with my rig, and if so, am I looking at sort of medium graphics settings to run it at a decent rate?

Short answer: Yes!

I initially installed the pre-release version on a similar system and the 1440p performance was more than adequate at medium settings.

I've since upgraded to VR so had to make a few tweaks to get decent performance, but I expect the above will still apply.

Fab, did you crank the settings up to high/ultra at all?

I run it on my 7-year old laptop on an RTX 2060. Framerates almost never drop below 30FPS (I've got it capped), and as long as the missions don't feature too many aircraft, I don't have time dilation issues (this is comparable to GB).

 

My graphics settings are on Low, but since you have a better GPU I expect you should be OK on medium-ish. Even so, it looks good even on the low settings.

I don't remember fully, as I quickly fell down the VR rabbit hole.  I think I had landscape at x3 or higher, but avoided anything above medium clouds as these are an FPS killer. I have an AMD RX 6800 XT which is similar in performance to your 3080, but now with a slightly faster processor (5900x).

I will say the game is immensely fun - the Commander Career is quite brilliant; organising and managing the whole squadron adds a new level of involvement.  Also the option to fast travel from take-off to (~20km from) interception/mission goal, and then back to (~15km from) landing means I can fit in quick combat missions around daily life.

I've got a similar GPU (maybe a slightly better CPU?) and I can turn a couple of setting to high/ultra - but I have to choose... especially in 1440p or 4k without upscaling.

Overall though, the video is pretty good... and it runs reasonably on my GTX1660 6GB at 1080p. That said, the 1660 is well below the minimum system requirements so it isn't guaranteed to work in the future. See my disclaimers in this thread:

I am running it on a 3080 10gb and and i3 12100 and it actually runs pretty well at 4k with DLSS performance. It sits at 60fps no problem in most cases and I dont notice many slowdows at all. The only issue is I sometimes get the red "Not enough video memory" warning on the top right, but it never seems to have any affect on the gameplay or framerate, so I kinda wish I could just turn it off!

I had 5800x with rtx5080 and that cpu had problems in career missions when there was more flights in combat zone. Fps was high but high system load caused some stuttering moments. Still playable but not butter smooth.

 

I upgraded to 9800x3d and this runs it nicely. Of course I see improvements in other games too.

 

Btw. With 5800x I used Lossless Scaling tool to smoothen those events with high system load. I got better results with that than I achieved with in game settings.
