Imagine having an entire air regiment or squadron under your command. You decide who to send to intercept the enemy, who to assign to escort the bombers, and when to take to the skies yourself and lead your pilots into battle.

In Dev Blog #82, we take a closer look at Commander Career, its 19 available mission types, and our plans for the mode’s continued development.

Looking good and I'm happy to hear that AI improvements are a priority. It really will make or break the career mode.

Sounds like there's even more indication that we're getting carriers in the future, too. 🙂

It reminds me quite a bit of the Ef-2000 campaign.

Nice job at using the Content creator program for a win-win situation!

Amazing and incredible!  A big thanks for incorporating Brigadier Fox's video explaining how career mode works.  I look forward to more of his content.  I have a couple of questions: (1) Does career mode have an "Iron Man" feature like Great Battles, i.e. if your commander avatar is killed on a mission do you have to start a career all over again?  Or can you create a new commander and continue leading the squadron? (2) Post-full release, will there be an option, like a Great Battles career, to simply start as an individual pilot and fly missions to advance in rank?  Or will Korea Career Mode require always serving as the squadron commander and managing resources and personnel?  Thanks, Swoose

Excellent! And excellent choice for Brigadier to give us a brief in video! This will work wonders for many people to see how it is! 🙂

As someone who's just crashed on take off on my first mission lol I think I saw the option to create a new commander before I turned the pc off and had a massive strop. 😂

1. I believe how it works is if you are killed or captured, you can continue, but your character will have a new name and persona.

2. Possibly

Very nice 👍:

This autumn, we also plan to add another feature to this mode: persistent damage to the map environment from one mission to the next, with bridges and other damaged structures being gradually repaired. This will further enhance the unique sense that your actions have an impact on the game world.

The new career is, indeed, as you said, excellent. Next level, integrated management strategy game, it's a blast.

Started a Mig15 Russian career. Done the first day.....3 times.

1. Got killed by 90mm flak on the way back to base, bailed out: exit to desktop at pressing "end spectate".

2. Got killed due to air collisionexit to desktop at pressing "end spectate".

3. Again, air collision with a Mustang:exit to desktop at pressing "end spectate".

Is this a known issue? Should I report it? What to include in the report, if yes?

What unit was this, and what airfield? If you have the crash dump files and/or a recording of what happened, that would be great as well. Thanks!

Does this also extend to forests? It would be great to be able to dynamically damage forests. Right now, they're often a bit too immaculate for a front line.

Damn, damn, my soul is a tram! 🙂

Had a wonderful first campaign mission with the F-80, really wonderful, after some successful ground attack started to chase a Mig-15 close to base, low on ammo, scored some hit, then suddenly the game froze and ....the usual crash to desktop. But i could see some cause: the load jumped from 35% to 165% just before doing that.

What should i tweak to avoid that?

Happened also during a Mustang career, twice, that i resigned just for that.

What could be wrong ???

I love that you have a biography from Louisiana.
Being a Cajun/Creole myself, it makes me happy to see my people represented.

In my first mission i was attacking some artillery (looked like light guns) they fired insanely fast. I looked like i had replay on at least x2 speed.  The gunners looked inhuman with their loading. With 8 or so guns firing. It looked looked like a AAA battery firing very shallow

Also what orders do you give the AI for them to attack effectively?

Sounds like you ran out of processor memory. I'm not an expert on CTDs but maybe lower settings if it is happening frequently. That does not sound like a game bug because I have not seen it reported until now.

.dmp files should be located in C:\Windows\minidump if you have a standard Windows 11 installation. You can do an AI search for various built in Windows tools to analyze application errors yourself.

found crash dump file, it says (last entries):

Buh...does this relate to CPU memory? really dunno.

found a dev that @Snipermanx said on another post to send to data. @Akephal. So i will do that and won't bother here.

P.S. didn't happen before update/outside carer.

C:\Users\{your account name}\AppData\Local\CrashDumps   - look for files names like IL2Series.exe.17764.dmp

I also had a bunch of CTDs this evening in career mode. One after I finished a career mission and clicked "finish mission" and one right in the middle of a career mission. Flying an F-84 from Osan. I will also send dmp files to @Akephal.
