When I start the game for the first time it recognizes my Virpile Stick, Throttle and Button Box and suggests that I use the profiles for these devices. But why do I have to map the buttons again? Did I miss something in the previous steps?

Personaly i had to remove like 90% from the profile provided for my setup since it did not came close to the way i setup my stick & throttle.

Its nice they added this option but in the end its a personal thing.

But did the game ask you to map all the functions on start up? I was under the impression that I just could use the pre-made settings the game offers me and have a quick flight.

Probably works great if your a one or two device user like most.  If you've got a cockpit with many controllers skip it.  The thing to watch out for is duplication in the toggle category with the same single commands scattered all over the other categories.  I set a few toggle on and off separate switches than go find the singles and delete them.  Don't want them ever being accidentally hit on the keyboard or anything else.

It's more for beginners who have no clue. I regularly see people ask for binding examples so they know what to do, and this should at least give those beginners a starting point where they can fly quickly and then later change it as they desire.

For experienced users that already have their preferred mappings figured out, it's probably better to just do it all manually.

I see a drop down and it is General profile. Is there a way to have profile specific for individual planes?

I agree.

It's a nice feature, but i had to change many things to have my setup.

anybody know the key for -- FPS--is ,  I don't see anything in the bindings and  backspace does not do it either ?? == need fps to test settings ..

I just saw that in the settings you can click on the burger menu next to the controller's name. There you can load presets for all kind of controllers.

And when I started the game with a VKB Gladiator stick, I had the chance to select the appropriate profile for this stick. So maybe it just didn't work with my Virpil devices.

I fired up IL-2 Korea and it began to ask me for my inputs for my Joystick etc. It took me quite a bit of time to get all my inputs in IL-2  for my VKB joystick, throttle and rudder pedals the way I wanted them when I first got that new hardware! It actually took months before I got them just right! Is there any way to transfer all those inputs into IL-2 Korea without going through all that again?

If you go into the bindings settings you have to "load" those profiles.

Personally, I'm not impressed with the layouts. Ended up just doing my own, because - for my hardware at least - the default bindings were REALLY bad.

Short answer, no.  But good news is you should have your original memorized for the quick brain template.

Three sims, 20 +/- aircraft……nope! I am NOT trusting in my brain template…..NO WAY!!

I made the mistake of having the sim set up the key bindings.

Now I have had to erase the whole thing and start over, what a mess.

I think you can delete your control device over on the right side, than it greys out and drops into a new menu below the active ones.  Than select it and start anew.

I wish I had it memorized! Looks like I'll have to start from scratch again! It took so long to get it the way I wanted it and I made so many changes over time that I'd never be able to replicate it easily! Too bad they didn't link somehow to the keystrokes in IL-2 Sturmovik Great Battles!

@2Late Yes, it can be done. Make a copy of the "General profile" rename it and assign it to the AC it is for.

Thanks I finally figured it out.

What I did is find fillable PDF templates for my devices, and then I put the bindings in there. That gives a way better overview of what buttons are bound to what, then having to go to the key mappings in game and memorize it.

For Korea, I mostly went through those PDFs and made sure that I mapped the same stuff to the same controls.

it took hours to clean up the controls profiles...my suggestion, if you have more beside just a stick and pedals, plug in the setup the rest later. No auto setup ever worked for me. You can use it as a guide where controls might go. It does give you info if you place you mouse over a control and what it does and what the settings do, which is really good. IMHO.

Where exactly is the 'General profile' file?  I see in the 'IL2Series\game\data\Input' folder there are two files with the 'general' name.  Actions and Pitch.
Am I getting warm?  I'm not as bright as 2Late 🙂

In game. Go to contol mapping and on the bottom of the page go to profile management. There you can copy the genearl profile as many times as you want, rename it, and make unique mappings for each profile. Then each individual profile can be assigned to aircraft as you wish through that same screen.

Ahh  in game!  I was looking for files.
Thanks very much!
