Remontti Posted July 6 Posted July 6 (edited) Could we have the slip indicator and artificial horizon as HUD elements? Customizable icons or at least more options for them. Like small dots only, icons or player names on friendly planes only or neutral color for all planes. The Chat / Message box takes a lot of space. A bomber hit target and all of sudden 1/4th of screen is filled with damage reports. It would be nice if one could place it some corner with smaller font. Let us move minimap view and allow zooming when navigation aids are turned off. It would be nice aid for navigation. You wouldn't have to pull out the full screen map when checking landmarks. Would be nice to be able to open the canopy and jump in the cockpit for a look around. I have an aviation museum not far from where I live that allows me to to just that 😉 Units Some commonwealth presence would be nice, maybe some RAAF Canberra's or some Royal Navy warships (e.g. HMS Belfast) Map Expansion of the map to cover the whole of Korea so that the entire war can be recreated not just the date period chosen for the campaign, we have the mission editor after all for our custom creations. Whittle Posted July 8 Posted July 8 I can not zoom in anywhere near my 6 o'clock to identify an aircraft. Please make the head-angle limitations similar to Great Battles. Screens typically do not allow the same clarity or object (angle) sizes that real vision has, and zooming in provides a user-selectable compromise between angle of view and detail. IL2K's current head angle limitation removes the ability to identify a trailing aircraft until it is far too close.

Perhaps when you hold the mouse over a pilot you get a pop-up with his essential info (They quietly murdered the 'pilot card' - redundant I suppose?). Drag-n-drop to sort your pilots would speed things up, too. Maybe add rank? 3
eszyman Posted July 13 Posted July 13 I would *really* love to see the pilots head move with VR / head tracking. Additionally, rain / ice effects on the wings and a little better effects on the canopy (for example when the water is hitting directly). 1

And some casualties lying about when a vehicle is destroyed. HUD feature to add -- a show/hide key for the messages .. and a way to eliminate certain prompts completely like "dont pull back so hard on the stick" Padlock key to add -- F2 and F8 combination in one key - so "padlock enemy aircraft external view" AIrcraft Config - ability to set gun convergence separately for each set of guns CAREER MODE IN Mission Summary (Q) - GIve me more detail. Targets hit by me, targets hit by my flight. Destroyed/Damaged. Any aircraft damaged or lost and the current damage/repair state. Could also go deeper. I could click on the items destroyed and pull up an image and summary including characteristics. RN in-flight access to the handbook is limited. Then after each mission give me a mission summary page to to see how my squadron performed in the last mission so I dont have to click on each PILOT CARD to find out. But how about also stores that appear at our air bases -- bombs, gas drums etc -- grow when we are doing well and dwindle when we are not doing so well or after an attack on our base... And IIRC in GB we saw aircraft scrambling as we approached the enemy airfield, which would be normal. And functions are obtuse. Sometimes I cant order new pilots or aircraft and I have NO IDEA why not. A popup cue of some kind telling me that the factories cant keep up or the new pilots are being sent to other priority squadrons would help. A while back I suggested THIS for a debrief screen. Two new screens actually... Let me choose debrief by section to really get into my squadron -- When pilots are deactivated, their faces get recycled. This is a little confusing when it comes time to make promotions. I look at a guy and I think, right, I know him, he's already carrying a lot of points and a promotion. Then I'm ready to assign him to a flight but.. oops .. not the same guy this guy is a newbie. I"m sure its a challenge to find enough faces, maybe testers would be willing to have their faces appear in the game? Edited July 29 by Viking1 update 1 5
H0berM4ll0w Posted July 27 Posted July 27 Some of the below might not be possible due to engine limitation, but nice to have QoL improvements would be: Ability to toggle 1st-person pilot body on-off with a keybind after already spawned in the cockpit, to better view cockpit gauges and instruments (or even better, in-game pilots could move their arms or hands to avoid blocking certain gauges depending on player line-of-sight or a keybind) Ability to switch between flat-screen and VR with a keybind without restarting the game, similar to how it's done in MSFS using "Ctrl + Tab" Enjoying the game very much so far! I'm also looking forward to the Bomber update for GB, hoping it's popular enough that we get some more dedicated ground attackers / bombers in Korea 3

Redeye Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) A lot of great points have already been made. Here is my wishlist: Improved communication. More info from your squadron about what they are doing or what’s happening. Especially if they see someone go down, they are damaged and go RTB. Some immersion comms like excitement, fear etc. And almost forgot proper ATC. New Career/flight start. You are just dropped off at your plane so you can do a walk around and then climb in your plane. Right now that beautiful animation is wasted. Aircraft notes made more easily accessible like it was in GB. I never stick to one plane so in GB I always have to check the planes specific quirks. Fast travel. Remove the automatic Pop-up and make it selectable by key-bind so the player can decide if and when he/she wants to use it. Mission complete. Please remove the large in your face message. Make it more subtle on top of the screen or better yet have your pilot say it over comms to the flight like; ‘Okey boys job done, back to the barn’. Husar Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Basic situational awareness between AI aircraft is missing. AI pilots should communicate with each other when one of them has an enemy on their six and call for a break. Right now, they often keep flying in a line like ducks, even as enemy AI approaches from behind. In contrast, whenever a player approaches an AI aircraft, it always seems to detect the threat and attempts to evade. 3
nachinus Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) -The Flight Manual's key assignment feature has a lot of potential. I would love to be able to create a plane-specific map directly from there just clicking in each listed control without having to go back to config-key mapping. This would greatly decrease the steep learning/setting curve when you first start to learn a new plane. -Aircraft labels/spotting helpers: I would love to customize ingame aircraft labels. IL2GB had mods with different solutions to fit any taste, but seeing how devs are making Korea more custimizable in terms of HUD and such, I hope in-flight navigation and spotting aids can be made customizable as well via ingame settings, both in terms of appeareance, info and distance at which they are shown. Voxman Posted August 3 Posted August 3 The ability to send the flight to nearest airbase if they are damaged or running low on fuel. it doesn’t seem like this is possible at this point. I’ve been able to communicate with other bases by switching radio frequencies, but it doesn’t seem like AI planes in your squadron will return to that selected base and carry on to origin base when instructed to RTB. 2 Computer: AMD 7800x3D, Nvidia 5070Ti, 64Gb DDR5-6000. vangut Posted August 5 Posted August 5 (edited) I would like the career mode to be extended to 1950. It was in 1950 that the most dramatic events took place, as well as the debut of the MiG‑15 and F‑86A5 fighter jets. I would also like to see debriefing with a mission map in the career mode, as in IL‑2: Great Battles. Edited August 5 by vangut
Cadum Posted August 5 Posted August 5 More flexibility when all I want to do has display Icons for enemy aircraft, ships, or ground forces etc. Instead of having to first hit the H key which mostly displays things I don't need, I just want to hit another key just to display the Icons...if necessary for all friendly and enemy forces, or just for enemy forces, without having to go into the HUD first. Additionally, please let us turn of the annoying message about VRAM which appears in red and or optimize the VRAM usage so that this message need not appear.
jamie.troy11 Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I have a suggestion for the replay/track system. At the moment switching between replay speeds (for example 1x to 0.5x, or back again) happens instantly. While this works fine for reviewing a mission, it doesnt look very cinematic when creating videos. It would be great if there was an optional smooth speed transition, like if im recording an F-80 making a strafing run I could let the aircraft approach at normal speed and, just as it opens fire, switch to 0.5x. Instead of the replay instantly changing speed, it would smoothly slow down over a second or so. The same would happen when returning to 1x speed—it would smoothly accelerate back to normal instead of changing immediately. This small feature would make replay footage look much more natural and cinematic, especially for people creating videos from the track system. An option to enable or disable smooth replay speed transitions would be ideal so players who prefer the current instant changes could keep them. 1

hawax270 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) 1. Camera Tools Improvements One of the features I would really like to see further developed in IL-2 Great Battles and IL-2 Korea is the camera system, especially for players who enjoy creating high-quality videos and cinematic content. That being said, IL-2 Korea has already introduced some very welcome improvements in this area. The new F3 "Chase Camera", in particular, is a great addition and provides a much more dynamic way of following an aircraft. It is definitely a step in the right direction for cinematic content creation. Building upon these improvements, some additional features would be particularly useful: TrackIR support in external views, for example when using the F1 external view, allowing players to naturally look around the aircraft using head tracking. A dynamic free-follow camera, similar to the one available in DCS, allowing the camera to follow an aircraft while still giving the player full freedom to move and position the viewpoint. Adjustable camera movement speed, for example by using the mouse wheel to smoothly increase or decrease the camera's movement speed. These additions, combined with the improvements already introduced in IL-2 Korea, would provide much more freedom when creating smooth, immersive, and cinematic shots and would greatly expand the possibilities for video creators within the IL-2 series. 2. A More Accessible Mission Editor Directly Integrated Into the Game Another feature I would really like to see is a more accessible mission editor directly integrated into the game, inspired in particular by the approach used in IL-2 Cliffs of Dover. The current Full Mission Editor is extremely powerful and should obviously remain available for mission creators who want to build particularly complex scenarios. However, in my humble opinion, one of the main weaknesses of the Great Battles series is how difficult it can be to quickly create a simple and functional mission. At the moment, there is a significant gap between the very simplified mission creation tools available directly within the game and the much more powerful, but also considerably more complex, Full Mission Editor. Some features I would particularly like to see include: More intuitive object placement, inspired by IL-2 Cliffs of Dover, allowing aircraft, vehicles, buildings, static objects and other elements to be quickly placed, moved, rotated, duplicated and configured directly on the map. The ability to use a manually placed aircraft as a spawn point. The mission creator could precisely position an aircraft anywhere on an airfield and simply designate it as the player's or an AI aircraft. This would make creating realistic and customized airfields much easier. A simpler, more visual and readable trigger system, allowing mission creators to quickly set up events such as an enemy formation appearing, aircraft scrambling from an airfield, reinforcements arriving, an objective becoming active, a player entering a specific area, or a target being destroyed. Simplified management of aircraft groups and formations, making it possible to quickly configure aircraft type, number of aircraft, formation, altitude, speed, pilot skill level and mission task. Simple waypoint creation directly on the map, with the ability to easily modify routes, altitude, speed and actions associated with each waypoint. Quick duplication and template tools for groups of objects, allowing mission creators to easily reuse things such as Flak batteries, vehicle convoys, radar positions, groups of parked aircraft or even complete sections of an airfield. An integrated briefing editor, allowing mission creators to write and format mission briefings directly within the game. It should also be possible to define objectives, add mission notes and, ideally, include images or briefing maps. This would make it possible to prepare the entire mission—from its scenario and objectives to the actual flight—without relying on external tools. Most importantly, this editor should allow players to create, modify, test and launch a mission directly from within the game, without having to leave IL-2 and use a separate external program. I believe this would be particularly important for new groups of players looking for a greater level of realism, immersion and cooperation. A group wanting to organize an evening flight should be able to quickly create a mission suited to its needs: place a few aircraft, prepare an airfield, define some objectives, create a few enemy formations and events, write the mission briefing, and then immediately launch the mission with the other players. It should not be necessary to master a complex tool simply to create a relatively straightforward but immersive cooperative mission. The objective would therefore not be to replace the current Full Mission Editor, which would remain essential for more elaborate missions and campaigns, but rather to provide a genuine intermediate mission editor integrated directly into the game, combining the accessibility and intuitive object placement of IL-2 Cliffs of Dover with some of the capabilities offered by the Full Mission Editor. Such a system could also make it easier for new communities and realism-oriented groups to emerge. The easier it is for a group to quickly create its own scenarios, the easier it becomes to regularly organize immersive multiplayer missions. Ultimately, the goal would be to allow players to spend more time flying and designing their scenarios, and less time learning how to make the mission editor work. FINAL Finally, I would like to sincerely thank the entire development team for the work you have done and continue to do on the IL-2 series. IL-2 Korea is a fantastic achievement. I have been genuinely impressed by the level of detail throughout the game, from the aircraft themselves to the environments, effects, sounds and overall atmosphere. You can really feel the amount of work and attention that has gone into recreating this period of aviation. I would also like to highlight the new user interface, which I think is a major improvement. It feels modern, clean, intuitive and pleasant to use, while still fitting very well with the identity of IL-2. This is honestly one of the improvements I appreciate the most. The suggestions above are therefore not meant as criticism of the work already accomplished, but rather as ideas for features that I believe could make an already excellent foundation even better, particularly for players and communities interested in realism, immersion, mission creation and cinematic content. Thank you for your work, your attention to detail and your continued dedication to the IL-2 series. IL-2 Korea is already an impressive piece of work, and I am very excited to see how it continues to evolve in the future.
