Sepp33 Posted March 10 Posted March 10 "Advanced Quick Mission Generator" ah ha! Thanks Mig Cap! And good to know I'm not entirely out of my age bracket here! I like fighting the Airco DH2, very nimble, quirky aircraft. Theoretically, should be an easy kill in the D.VII, but they are often able to shake me off. Unfortunately they are not very photogenic; the rigging that doesn't capture well in a screen grab have to blur it a bit in PS. 6
Sepp33 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 Flying around the majestic Zep in immersive VR is incredible. Watching it burn up and plummet is a punch in the gut, more so than a plane going down. A real sense of loss. This morning, me and the boys went out to make an RFC airfield's Friday the 13th unlucky. But as it turned out, I hadn't read the manual and ended up crashing while struggling to find the bomb release key lol. The CL2 is a great machine. 5
MiGCap Posted March 13 Author Posted March 13 Yep. When I first saw the Zeppelin taking off from its hangar and slowly climbing in the air, I watched with awe from the ground - and forgot to start my escort aircraft. And the Zep blew up before I was near (multiplayer). 😄 I play VR since 2020 now and never would play in 2D again. 27 minutes ago, Sepp33 said: Flying around the majestic Zep in immersive VR is incredible. 1
Sepp33 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 VR is the only way to fly! I just wish there was a way to open a little window so I can see my keyboard for things like the bomb release key without crashing haha. 4

Don't know which VR equipment You use, but with my Pimax Standard I can look outside around my nose when I lift it a little bit. With its predecessors (Rift and G2) I've cut the face pad so that the "nose view" also was possible. And my compliments to the developers: What a great damage model! 5
Sepp33 Posted March 13 Posted March 13 I use the sneak a peek method, too, but lifting the visor in game play can get awkward when things are happening fast! Programming the throttle and stick buttons might help but I need more practice to get the muscle memory into my fingers, especially since the buttons are clustered. I'm thinking of getting a standalone switch panel, to physically separate some functions, like dropping bombs. The developers certainly made this sim a visual feast, half the fun is sight seeing and appreciating details like the perforated zeppelin framework, or the market stalls set up in town squares. I am really enjoying setting different atmospheric conditions, too. 1

I don't know which stick and throttle set You have, but try to configure it to HOTAS (Hands On Throttle And Stick) like for modern jets. I have everything essential on HOTAS so that I do not have to look outside. That's only for procedures on the ground. 1
Sepp33 Posted March 14 Posted March 14 Fantastic! Like some mythical flying creature, its hard to believe such things as Zeppelins even existed. Peak German engineering. 7

They work fine, but they could be better. The pedals are too close together and there's not enough resistance. The buttons on the stick base are all crammed together. There's sort of a braille bump on some of them, but feeling around takes my focus off the game. What would really improve the stick/immersion would be a force feedback or a shaker, so I fly more "seat of my pants" e.g. without checking instruments for an approaching stall.
