New to VR

Where does one start when converting to VR? I have a new PC, and I want to fly exclusively in VR, even if my hardware isn't top of the line. I will mostly play Flying Circus & BoN.

For reference, I have: Intel Core Ultra 7 270K, RX 6800XT, 32Gb DDR5 RAM & meta Quest 3

I saw videos telling me to use OpenXR, instead of SteamVR (I am not using Steam version of IL-2), but it sounds like OpenXR and OpenXR Toolkit are no longer supported? I tried looking at the meta 3 thread here but almost everything is in Russian. Any good links or advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi. With your GPU I‘d clearly recommend a Quest3 or QuestPro with VirtualDesktop. This should give you a decent performance in FC and BoX - Korea is somewhat more ‚hungry‘ but should still be playable.

Be aware that you also need a Hotas Setup ( Joystick / Throttle / Rudder & some buttons ) since flying in VR means that using a keyboard is somewhat difficult. Which controls do you use at the moment ?

Openxr and openxrtoolkit work just fine for il2 sturmovik great battles. I use them till now, no problem so far. Quest3 is the best headset for you, is the less barrel distortion "hungry" ( needs the least gpu sources for the same image quality compared to other headsets)

OpenXR works, but you need to do some voodoo to make sure you have the right version that works. I would advise just starting with SteamVR, to first get it to work in an easier way. And then you can try OpenXR and tune/optimize things.

@GiftGruen Thanks. I can get by with my Saitek throttle quadrant, MSFFB2 & rudder pedals when it comes to the WWI controls. I have used Voiceattack in the past, and will need to rely on it more with WWII planes most likely.
