P-47D-28 Corsair Mod – IL-2 Great Battles

ENGLISH VERSION

This mod introduces an alternative version of the P-47D-28 Thunderbolt, inspired by the legendary F4U-1 Corsair.

The standard P-47D-28 remains completely unchanged. All modifications are activated only when the player selects the six-machine-gun configuration instead of the standard eight-gun configuration.

Modifications

• Weight: Reduced by 700 kg (excluding fuel).

• Engine power: Increased by 10%.

• Armament: Six .50 caliber machine guns instead of eight.

• Custom skin: Corsair "Whistling Death" skin, automatically applied when the six-machine-gun modification is selected.

• Standard P-47D-28: Completely unchanged.

The goal is to create a lighter, more powerful Thunderbolt with improved acceleration, climb performance, and maneuverability, bringing its flight characteristics closer to the famous F4U-1 Corsair.

Automatic Corsair Skin

The mod includes a custom "Whistling Death" skin inspired by the F4U Corsair.

When the player selects the six-machine-gun modification, the aircraft automatically switches to the Corsair-inspired appearance. No manual skin selection is required.

Switching back to the standard eight-machine-gun configuration restores the original P-47D-28 appearance and performance.

Installation (JSGME)

1. Download the mod from GitHub.

2. Extract the archive contents into your game's MODS folder.

3. Open JSGME, select the mod, and click Install to activate it.

Compatibility

Single-player only. Not intended for multiplayer.

The mod works in Quick Missions, Career Mode, and scripted Campaigns.

 

Recommendation

I recomanding to not using rocket racks if possible. Due to game engine limitations, bomb and rocket attachment points do not visually align with the modified aircraft model. Repositioning them caused the entire modification to stop working. All weapons, bombs, and rockets remain fully functional in every configuration, but rocket racks in particular look visually incorrect.

Tento mod přidává alternativní verzi P-47D-28 Thunderbolt inspirovanou legendární stíhačkou F4U-1 Corsair.

Standardní P-47D-28 zůstává zcela beze změny. Všechny úpravy se aktivují pouze tehdy, když si hráč zvolí konfiguraci se šesti kulomety namísto standardních osmi.

Úpravy

• Hmotnost: Snížena o 700 kg (bez započítání paliva).

• Výkon motoru: Zvýšen o 10 %.

• Výzbroj: Šest kulometů ráže 12,7 mm namísto osmi.

• Vlastní skin: Corsair "Whistling Death", automaticky aplikovaný při výběru modifikace se šesti kulomety.

• Standardní P-47D-28: Zcela beze změny.

Cílem je vytvořit lehčí a výkonnější Thunderbolt s lepší akcelerací, stoupavostí a obratností, jehož letové vlastnosti se přibližují slavné stíhačce F4U-1 Corsair.

Automatický skin Corsair

Mod obsahuje speciální skin "Whistling Death" inspirovaný letounem F4U Corsair.

Jakmile hráč zvolí modifikaci se šesti kulomety, letadlo automaticky získá vzhled inspirovaný Corsairem. Skin není nutné ručně vybírat.

Při návratu ke standardní konfiguraci s osmi kulomety se obnoví původní vzhled a letové vlastnosti P-47D-28.

Instalace (JSGME)

2. Rozbalte obsah archivu do složky MODS ve vaší hře.

3. Spusťte JSGME, vyberte mod a kliknutím na Install jej aktivujte.

Kompatibilita

Pouze pro singleplayer. Mod není určen pro multiplayer.

Mod funguje v rychlých misích, dynamické kariéře i předpřipravených kampaních.

 

Doporučení

Nedoporučuji použávat raketové závěsníky. Kvůli omezením herního enginu nejsou závěsníky bomb a raket správně vizuálně zarovnány s upraveným modelem letadla. Jejich přesunutí způsobovalo totiž nefunkčnost celé modifikace. Veškeré zbraně, bomby i rakety jsou ve všech konfiguracích plně funkční, ale zejména raketové závěsníky nevypadají opticky dobře.

Update – Whistling Death Skin Added!

The P-47D-28 Corsair mod has been updated!

• Added the new Whistling Death Corsair-inspired skin.

• The skin is automatically applied when selecting the six-machine-gun modification.

• No changes to the standard eight-machine-gun P-47D-28.

Yes, I know the buffs are a bit too strong. I'll tone them down in the next version so the aircraft won't be so overpowered.

However, I'm currently working on a complete overhaul of the 3D model to make it look even closer to the real F4U Corsair. This will probably take a few more days or even weeks, but I think we'll get there eventually!

In the meantime, here's a little sneak peek at how the model looks after the latest update, now featuring the iconic inverted gull wings!

• Weight reduction adjusted from -1,000 kg to -700 kg.

• Improved Corsair skin.

• Reworked 3D model with the distinctive bent wings of the F4U Corsair.

• Snížení hmotnosti upraveno z -1 000 kg na -700 kg.

• Vylepšen skin Corsairu.

• Přepracován 3D model s charakteristickými zalomenými křídly F4U Corsair.
