run into you while you are flying to the target area?

I had a long flight last night and we were about 25 miles from the target area when one of my wingmen simply runs into my aircraft with his aircraft, taking us both down and ruining the mission.  I was flying straight and level at the time.

This has happened to me several times now.  Are you guys having this happen to you? 

What can be done to correct this?  Can I spread the formation out more?

Yes. I haven't really have it happen in missions I've written since I increased the formation density to "safe" or "loose".

None in task editor missions, but as of the latest update it appears my wingman is following me around like a lost puppy. Especially on landing patterns, even after issuing rtb directly to him there he is. Think he's even augered in a few times doing that.

I have not been run into a single time. Yet. I do remember one very close call, but no hit.

In the 1.004b patch, I haven't seen any mid-airs yet, but I've only been able to fly about 10 missions or so since the patch. Prior to v1.004, I had seen several mid-airs between wingman... especially on the La-11 combat exam... On one attempt for that mission, I lost all but one of my wingmen to mid-airs before we even encountered the Mustangs. Sometimes, setting formation to loose helped, but it was very inconsistent so most of the time I just limited my rate of turn as flight lead so that hopefully they wouldn't "try to keep up" and do something stupid. That mostly worked well.

I have, however, been bombed by my wingmen as they decided it was a good idea to do a bombing run that they ran perpendicular to my gun run. I actually saw the bombs falling in, exploding just in front of my IL-2, causing the aircraft to lurch so hard that I almost couldn't correct in time that close to the ground. Thankfully, my IL-2 was able to limp almost all the way back to the airfield before the engine finally ran out of oil and seized up, necessitating an off-airfield landing.

on occasion, yes. less often compared to before the newest patch, but it's still happening. only solution i found is to ask for a loose formation.

I have had escort flights in career missions crash into each other on occasion, and when we get back to home base after a mission as I am setting up to land my flight of numpties seem to swarm around me, come up from behind and underneath, break across my nose, etc...  very unnerving.

More close calls than I can count, never a mid air.  Couple hundred hours played mainly F80.

I am in a Mustang carreer.

One runned into me once, before 1.004.

Otherwise, it is more beetween 2 wingmen: even with the last patch. 

It usually happens in landing paterns with 90° course change. Once when a wingman rejoin another from far behind. Ando nce 2 wingmen collided beetween parking and take off.

In career mode during ground attacks one of my wingmen usually just flies into the ground during the attack run! 🫠
