How about "August 1953 DLC"?

What if The Panmunjom July 1953 agreement failed.

U.S. President Dwight D. Eisenhower accepted General Douglas MacArthur suggestion of using atomic bombs against North Korean and Chinese targets to break the stalemate and authorized the use of Tactical Nuclear weapons.

Khrushchev and the Soviet Union calculated that providing a much more meaningful support to China and the DPRK in opposition the a Nuclear Treat would be beneficial to showcase the power of Soviet New Jet fighters and Bombers still without officially entering the conflict. A large Number of Mig-17 and Ilyushin Il-28 enter the conflict. The UN Air Superiority is no longer a reality Carrier Groups and Airbases in the South are no longer safe and Nuclear escalation might be stopped on the ground.

With a “WHAT IF” like that you can still be Historically accurate until July 1953 and let a realistic hypothetical scenarios develop after that bringing very interesting aircraft in the mix this in my opinion would be great especially for online players and can greatly expand the scope of IL2 KOREA without deviation from the historic authenticity typical of IL2 series, what’s your opinion?

Made this argument yesterday lol

"Failed Negotiations" where the 53 Cease Fire ended and fighting resumed they could include every jet up the Phantom.

I'd stop before the Phantom though, once you reach the Phantom you're talking radar systems, BVR, and Missile combat but a lot of jets made in 54-57 were meant for Korea but the conflict ended before they were ready.

Hell the F9F Cougar missed it by mere days arriving less then a month after the fighting had ended.

A "what if" scenario of Escalation could include every Chinese and Russian Aircraft as well up to 1959/1960.
Though once again once you get into jets with early RWR/Radar and missile systems it does become a very different game.

They could throw the kitchen sink of every early, mid, and late jet based Gunfighters

Hell in a 1953 WW3 escalation scenario they could expand the map beyond Korea even deep into China and surrounding areas, honestly could expand across or Europe, Asia, and South East Asia.

IL2 Korea could become a "what if" global 1957 WW3 (with a dynamic campaign) and might break out as the premier simulator.

Like how IL2 Stalingrad became Great Battles, IL2 Korea some day might become Global Conflict (or something)"

For now I just hope to see later variations of planes flesh out the game that did actually serve in the Korean theatre before entertaining alt history DLC.

1C didn't even want to add F-86E as a collector plane for the games launch because " Muh Spring 1951",  ( first 18 F-86E's reported as having arrived via ship to Japan in June of 1951 before being flown to the Korean peninsula) even though in career mode some US or Soviet squadron careers start as late as 1953 not to mention you can play until july 27th 1953 day of the armistice being signed.... and read the historical newspapers. There is no arbitrary career cutoff prior to the introduction of later model jets that came after 1st day of April 1951.

So i was also disappointed there was no news of a later model sabre(s) being developed alongside deck ops, or post deck ops which i also noticed has only earlier war variations of naval jets such as F9F-2 but no F9F-5.

Agreed. The one thing that sets IL2 apart from its competitors, is coherent packages of planes and a map all related to a single historical battle or conflict. As soon as you drop the connection with history, you can combine whatever planes and maps you like. That's DCS territory.

Yes off course, and I think they will do it eventually, it's reasonable to expect 1C need to bring some income from the big upfront investment by adding AC in the form of DLCs, but the list of viable airframes that could be added for this scenario is very short for the red side.

If done with moderation a what if DLC that doesn't deviate far from the historical events could bring more return from initial investment and make users happy at the same time.

how about carrier ops, and then even a Commonwealth DLC ? I mean, first. just my opinion. I also like eggs&tommatoes, so..... 🙂

besides, a dynamic campaign can really go anywhere....

I can see a DLC progression more or less like:

1-Carrier Ops

2-Historical AC completion 1 (ie MiG-15, Tu-2, F86E)

3-Commonwealth

4-August 1953 (ie Il-28, MiG17, FJ-2, F86H)

Right, and then we'd have the problem from the other side: "Why do Red players have to face F-86Es in the spring of 1951 when they weren't there? Typical Yanks always wanting the best, OP stuff."

Hopefully there will be an opportunity to add later F-886s, but for now, it is what it is.

Which BTW what we have it's already the greatest online sim I ever flown, and i can spend years only flying my F80 or F84, as long as we have players on both sides for the online community (I can't comment for offline because I'm not interested in any of those modes) this is why the Carrier Ops DLC coming out first make me very happy as a blue player but concerned that Red Players might not have enough incentive and novelty to stay engaged.

And we as Blue side we definitely already have the most OP plane set as a whole so i can see why the MiG15Bis was picked over the Mig15 to create the maximum potential of balance with the minimal number of models and still get a good representation of the Air War over Korea.

I, for myself speaking, I would be hugely satisfied and truly grateful if those things already announced in various dev blogs will come to see the light of day (screen actually, but that's semantics).

What might come on top/onwards is sooo far, far away...... and imho, deeply bound by potential earnings efficiency.

There are sooo many factors to take into account: I noticed a very wise view from the devs: they are trying not to overlap much with the competition.

So , since there is a constant, permanent wishlist on this forum I'd wish for the :

- next week patch to come asap

- tangible work upon the many other things promised in the blogs

- the ambitious carrier ops to get born in the next year's future

- 1C games to reach and even surpass their income targets, as to be motivated to continue their work in the distant future

Red 1, out.

F-86E isn't the best 86 of the war. The cheif difference between the f86a and f86e is the all flying tail allowing pilots greater controlability in pitch up/pitch down in speeds aproaching or exceeding mach 1.

and red players wouldnt be facing it in the spring of 1951 but later months of 51 in career mode. Last I checked there is no arbitrary cutoff at june of 1951, when the vert first batch ( 18) F86E arrived in theatre. The career continues until the final day of korean war when armistice is signed in July 27th 1953. And many squadron or fighter regiments careers start well after 1951.

Its the F-86F thats the best sabre variant of the war. Eventually I'd hope to see that added as well to because apart from eventually replacing F86E in the 4th and 51st  fighter interceptor wings it was uniquely also being issued to a couple of fighter bomber wings  in the last year of the war as a replacement for fighter bomber squadrons that had not  yet transitioned to F84 that were Still stuck with F51D or F80C. In career mode F86A5 is issued as placeholder for these F-86F fighter bomber units.

For multiplayer scenarios it depends on the date mission designers choose, and i see the populated servers circulating through various periods of the war instead of sticking solely to a self imposed spring 1951 cutoff.

So the question should be why there only f86a5 facing against mig15bis for that 1952 scenario when 51st and 4th interceptor wings had F86E?

Similarily in mp red players wouldn't be facing F-86E unless mission deisngers choose to include it. No different then some multiplayer mission designers being permissive enough to allow 1953 modifications such as g suit for the mig.

Team blue doesnt have the most OP plane at all.  What they have is larger variety of aircraft that can bomb ground targets. But thats why I understand why a pilotable pe2 would be desirable or the alt history il28 consideration.

If we had modeled the F-86E first instead of the A-5, people would be complaining in the opposite direction from where they are right now. That is what I was getting at. 🙂

Having flown everything and spent some proper time in every plane far as I'm concerned there are no real free lunches for anyone.   The risk is high when you enter the multiplayer arena no matter what you strapped on.  On average my odds of survival and escape are higher inside a prop once I decide to disengage, completely counter intuitive to what I'd assumed.  Racking up impressive kills for the most is generally due to effective team work.  So the majority of us average pilots won't see some big miracle or wide obvious advantage with the E's introduction.  Maybe our wings will depart a bit quicker.

TBH the wings shouldn't be ripping inthe F86A like they currently are but even under current testing  when they don't rip   its basically impossible to pull out of  mach 0.90 to 0.95 dives if you dont reduce throttle to 0 and initiate airbrakes asap. Pitch control is nearly non existent. Due to lack of all flying tail in this flight regime the f86a feels like a mig15bis without the wing roll phenomenon

Issue its more like the famous tactic of diving away to the deck to disengage from an unfavorable circumstance against a Mig doesn't work so well without an all flying tail, its what enabled it to viable to begin with.

Otherwise the F86E will still have the same limitation as F86A in terms of feeling underpowered in thrust since it still retained the same engine from the F86A and a lower service ceiling to mig . The F86F had a improved engine, but alas that is truly a very late war plane since most squadrons were not flying that until some points in 1953 with some  F models having 6-3 modification before the conclusion of the war.
