When changing over from FB to Korea was there any problem with joystick configuration, I was contemplating buying a new stick and to start from scratch and just swap sticks for either sim thinking that i may have to alter key functions for Korea ?

It's a completely different game so your set up will be completely different, in my opinion it's easier and superior to set up once you figure out the way it works.  So either way you'll have to set it up fresh.  There are also toggle commands for many of the functions in a separate toggle section, so in addition to your FB style gear up/down single command, in the toggle section you also have split gear up and a gear down as separate commands.

Also some of the switch assigned commands are set up to cycle through and run more than one item, like instruments and cockpit controls, one set of switch toggles cycles through the list of equipment like mirror to aileron boost to compass and so on down the list, there's two so you can go both ways up or down the order.  Than the next switch set you can cycle between functions in an instrument, like select between slaving or rotating your compass and card, although there's two toggles they aren't needed since you'll never run into more than two functions on one instrument except the Mig clock which has three, and the third switch allows you to swing or tune and item either left or right in rotation or go up and down in radio freqs, that sort of fine tuning or fine setting.  So you can get a lot of bang out of five buttons or some two way switches.

When you get familiar its quite intuitive and fast, but not quite home cockpit levels yet.  There are no individual direct commands for say the compass or mirror.  But there is also an option to open a graphical menu and run things through it, I prefer not and never do.

I started with IL2 GB about 7 years ago with a TM 1600 (?) set. Then i got a TM warthog set quite cheap in a sale. Never regretted it, other than the joystick base flunked out twice due broken wires at the base ball system. TM used massive core flat cables, which is a shame at the price they ask now.

TM sells parts for repairs if you need it, and I was able to fix it myself, and also modded the Throttle with a delta sim controller i mainly use for yaw/rudder. Later i bought an AVA base which is far better.

Current prices, also for other quality brands are quite high now. The TM set was OK for the price i then paid.

Thanks both for the info.

I suppose one thing to consider with purchasing Korea would be the cost of the Korean simulation and in my case perhaps a second joystick also option to upgrading my system to have the full graphics affect that this new sim has to offer.  we shall see !
