actionhank Posted September 10 Posted September 10 Hey, Devs! Thanks for the Templates! They are great so far. With that in mind, is there a way to access a model viewer like there was with the Great Battles series? It would be nice to not have to pop into Il-2 every time to check the skin. 2
Mauler Posted September 11 Posted September 11 I second this. I have tried in-game with the viewer there but changing skin to another and back again does not result in the newer version of the skin you are editing displaying. A restart of the game is necessary. This is very labour intensive and glaringly in need of the old viewer arrangement to assist skinners in a more seamless way. Please devs, help out on this final bit 🙂 1 1
actionhank Posted September 11 Author Posted September 11 There was one with Great Battles that was super useful, and very similar to the DCS equivalent as well. It was nice, because you could load the model up and then just refresh it to see what changes you made on the skin. It makes life infinitely easier when you can just rotate around the model in the viewer with flat lighting and not have to take on the tedious task of loading the game, trying to zoom in, and then closing back out. Especially if you're doing a complex scheme or one that requires you to line up some edges that are between parts on the 3D model and template.
Dash,Polder Posted September 11 Posted September 11 Being worked on, not ready for release, but it sure is looking good. 1 1
Mauler Posted September 12 Posted September 12 That is great but a mod from the community. 1C really needs to update and release their official viewer to support the skinning community. I would have thought that was a no brainer at release to support the use of their templates. With update, I mean update to the previous one in Great Battles, the one we have all used for years. Leaving it to community mods is, well, dropping the ball a bit. 1
