nosscar Posted September 2 Posted September 2 (edited) Hi, i played Il2 great battles for quite a while and performance was pretty good in quest 3 vr for my system. My system is as follows, Acer Nitro laptop R9 AI 365 cpu RTX5070 gpu 32gb ram 1tb ssd My laptop is roughly equal to: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5070 Laptop GPU in your Acer Nitro performs closest to a desktop NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 7700 XT. The AMD Ryzen AI 9 365 in your Acer Nitro is closest in real-world performance to the AMD Ryzen 7 7700 or Intel Core i7-13700 (run at standard 65W power limits). Now my question is will korea run ok on my setup using a quest 3 for vr, i realise some settings might need to be lowered for a smooth experience, but will i still benefit from the superior graphics and improved landscape and visuals over great battles, and what, if any settings are best to lower to try keep the visual quality. I am trying to decide if i should buy this, or stick to great battles, upgrades to my system not possible just now. Edited September 2 by nosscar Added specs clarification. Acer Nitro laptop RTX 5070. / R9 AI 365 cpu / 32gb ram / 1tb ssd
AndreiTomescu Posted September 2 Posted September 2 since no VR player has given you an answer, and i don't wanna you to feel being ignored, i (2k flat screen user) will tell you this: - there is a dedicated thread about VR. Mixed feelings. Lots of helpful guys trying to find solutions. Users, not devs. Read it, make a comparison. here: https://forum.il2-series.com/topic/3761-vr-experiences-il-2-korea/ - leaving VR aside, the Korea game is a huge, HUGE step forward compared to (my beloved) GB. I don't think i could easily ever go back. What could help me 🙂 is that the game is still in development, like 1001 things launched and announced. But.... But some those launched are not working to the extend that you can't use them. For ex in F-80 Career mode, in a single mission 4 out of 5 AI planes happily crashed into the ground. Unplayable. Asked for some help, workaround, answer: .........none. Radio static. The other users are as helpful as they can be. They are not devs. Luckily, the Mustang career is working excellent, and there are also 2 scripted campaigns, done Home by Christmas one, it's a blast. So, there is much work to be done as the already released content to be at full speed. However, since the early release, there was significant improvement. So things are moving. The new Career mode is very good, but so far it works fine only for the Mustang. At least in my books. Announced things: they sound awesome, they are awesome, but the previous announcement is long due. The new announcement sets new periods for releasing the new and long awaited content, but who knows truly when. I would say the announcement department fares much better than the release department. So, my advice (i have over 3k hrs SP only in GB, and about 100+ hrs in Korea) is this: - read the thread. make up your mind - setup your gear first - get it from Steam, and jump in the game. You will have some 2 hrs of trying the game. Stick to the Mustang. if you don't like how it goes in your VR, refund. - if you like it, maybe buy it from official site, so the devs get all the money don't expect a finished product. hope this helps. 1 Oreoreeeoyeero!
YoYo Posted September 3 Posted September 3 (edited) 13 hours ago, nosscar said: Now my question is will korea run ok ..... Unfortunately, I don't have good news, not only will you have to lower the settings a bit, but even that won't guarantee you a good gameplay on the "equivalent" of 4060Ti. The positive side is that Korea IL-2's biggest problem isn't the GPU, but the in-game processes—the CPU. Currently, even reducing graphics settings to the absolute minimum and enabling DLSS can still cause noticeable stutter. This is a bottleneck for the CPU and the game's coding. There is currently no graphics card on the market that will ensure 100% smooth gameplay. Code optimization and a VR patch have been announced, so we're waiting to see what the future brings. Personally, I'd hold off, as it's still a major problem in Korea right now, or just get the Steam version, which can be returned within 14 days if you play for no more than 2 hours. You can immediately configure these settings, plus enable DLSS performance, and see how it works for you within those 2 hours.
