IL-2 Mission Guard

Automatic recovery points for IL-2 mission designers

Ever lost hours of mission editor work because you forgot to save, or wanted to return to an earlier point?

IL-2 Mission Guard is a free, open-source Windows tray application that automatically creates recovery points while you work in:

• IL-2 Great Battles Mission Editor
• IL-2 Korea Mission Editor

Mission Guard periodically asks the Mission Editor to perform its normal Save operation. It then preserves the complete mission file set as a timestamped, integrity-verified recovery point.

If you make a mistake, experience an editor crash or simply want to return to an earlier version, you can restore one of your previous recovery points.

FEATURES

• Configurable autosave interval
• Configurable number of recovery points retained per mission
• Separate recovery history for each mission
• Supports both IL-2 Mission Editors
• Preserves every file belonging to the mission—not only the .Mission file
• Uses the editor’s normal Save command
• Verifies recovery-point integrity using SHA-256
• Creates a safety backup before restoring mission files
• Closes and reopens the appropriate editor during restoration
• Dark, light and Windows-system themes
• Built-in update checker
• Tiny-footprint native tray host
• Portable single-file application with no installer required

Important: A new mission must be saved manually once so that it has a filename. Mission Guard can protect it automatically after that.

IMPORTANT BETA NOTICE

IL-2 Mission Guard is still in beta. Although it has been tested, mission designers should perform their own tests using non-critical missions before relying on it. Please continue making independent backups of important work.

The application is provided “as is,” without warranty. To the fullest extent permitted by law, the developer accepts no liability for lost or corrupted mission files, lost work, Mission Editor problems or any other damages resulting from its use.

The current beta is unsigned, so Windows may display a SmartScreen warning when it is launched for the first time. Code-signing approval from the SignPath Foundation is currently pending.

IL-2 Mission Guard is an independent community project and is not affiliated with or endorsed by the IL-2 developers.

Feedback, testing results and bug reports are very welcome.
