Stonehouse Posted August 26 Posted August 26 (edited) Mods need to be packaged slightly differently for JSGME but it works fine otherwise. In IL2GB typically a mod was structured like: mod folder data folders and files making up the mod In IL2 Korea due to a different directory structure, typically the mod structure is like: mod folder game data folders and files making up the mod. I was getting a little crossed up about this last night myself. While the above appears to be correct, it is also possible to use the same old structure (mod name folder/data/mod files) as we used in IL-2 GB IF YOU PUT JSGME.exe and your MODS folder inside Korea's "game" folder instead of inside the "IL2Series" folder. For some reason, that's the way I had started out doing my mod tests back in EA, and it works fine, but I did start to get confused about it last night when I was creating another mod and was trying to figure out what role the "game" folder would play in its structure. In any event, I can see this being a constant source of potential confusion for folks as they begin using mods for Korea. My assumption was the jsgme exe was in the root folder of the game as that is the simplest scenario and probably what most people will do. You can alter the directory paths in the jsgme.ini so to avoid having to rework the folder structure of a downloaded mod if you happen to install jsgme somewhere other than the root folder. Aapje Posted August 27 Posted August 27 The most important thing is that everyone picks the same solution to prevent a mess. I think that the best idea is to make the mods work from the root of the game folder, because that is the most logical place. It also has the advantage that you can see which game the mod is for. So if you downloaded a mod and don't know anymore whether it is for GB or Korea, you can tell by checking the structure.
Panthercules Posted August 27 Posted August 27 Makes sense to me - good idea! Ryzen 7 9850X3D 4.7GHz, RTX 5090, ASUS X870 Board, 64GB DDR5 RAM 6000, HP Reverb G2, Windows 11
