Group folder

Does anyone know where the group folder is in the drop-down of folders within IL2. Is it in the data folder?  I’ve looked but can’t seem to find it. I want it so that I can place an individual item where I want in a mission im making. I’ve made a new group and I’d like to be able to use it in whatever place and mission I’m making. 
I see there is a large list of items in the drop-down”GROUPS” list on the right side of the screen within the ME but my new item is not listed and I want to know within which folder I need to place the group file.

I put the groups in the "template" folder in the data folder and then go to "import from file". 

But I've also heard people say to put them in the missions folder. So I would suspect try this and see if they show up.

I can confirm that putting ".group" files in the missions folder makes them show up on the right side menu in the editor under "groups" .
