¿Doesn't Fast travel back home engage when mission objectives haven't been completed?

What the title says. I thought it's supposed to be available when you break contact and fly away from enemy units and/or mission area, no matter if you succedeed or failed the mission.

Yesterday, playing a Mig-15 Career intercept fighter-bombers mission, I wanted to break away from combat and turn back home minding the fuel (loong trip) before mission criteria were accomplished (I shot down a F51, but it didn't seem to be enough), but I never got the popup dialogue and had to fly the loooong way home. Luckily the kids and wife were away and I had time to finish the flight, but I was puzzled. Is it bug or WAD?

Do you have the mission file?

yeah I wish this was available on demand, not at mysterious key points of the mission.. Once it showed up and I pressed the wrong key too, and had to waste all that time getting back...  Please give us a fast travel option ,  especially as time acceleration does not always work.

Sadly no, I hadn't read the sticky warning about overwriting mission files and I flew another mission yesterday. I'm now aware of it and will keep the file if it happens again.

It appears sometimes at most inconvenient times. Yesterday I bombed a train and accomplished the mission objective. There were still vehicle columns that I were attacking and the prompt kept showing up in middle of my attack runs.

A way around it could be a radio command that announces that you are breaking contact and rtb, so the game knows that from that point on, as soon as you are over friendly territory and with no enemy units in a given radius, the skip dialog should appear.
