stim313 Posted Saturday at 04:19 PM Posted Saturday at 04:19 PM (edited) Hi sim pilots and developers. I enjoy IL2 Korea and appreciate developers effort and work to create such immersive combat simulation. Please consider my suggestion not as criticism but as effort to move immersion to next higher level with preserving historical accuracy. The simulation already represents many formations and coordinated maneuvres, AI behaviour still has room for further improvement. I have prepared a structured reference document covering historically plausible USAF fighter and fighter-bomber practices during the Korean War. The main suggested improvements concern: Take-offs individually, in pairs or by elements, followed by realistic formation assembly. Natural transitions between navigation, combat and attack formations. Sequential ground attacks led by the flight leader, with proper spacing between aircraft. Withdrawal and regrouping after an attack. Realistic landing approaches, overhead breaks, landing intervals and formation recovery. Better radio communication during take-off, formation assembly, approach and landing. Radio communication during the landing phase is especially important. Calls between the flight leader, wingmen and airfield control should correspond with the actual approach, formation break, landing clearance and aircraft spacing. The goal is to connect the existing manoeuvres into more consistent AI procedures: take-off → formation assembly → coordinated attack → regrouping → approach → landing These changes could make AI flights more predictable for the player, historically convincing and tactically realistic. These could be developed further together with the Commander Career mode. As a USAF unit commander, the player could select historically appropriate mission procedures during planning, or during mission from start to the end including: Take-off order: individually, in pairs or by elements. En-route and combat formation. Ground-attack method, attack direction and aircraft sequence. Regrouping procedure after the attack. Landing approach, formation break and landing order. Available options should follow historical USAF doctrine and be limited by aircraft type, mission, airfield, weather and tactical conditions. AI aircraft would then execute the commander’s commands throughout the mission. Improved radio calls during take-off, formation assembly, attack, approach and landing would make these procedures understandable to the player. It include to more provide flight leader commands options like "close up" or "spread out" for AI wingmens , let us imagine situation that clouds coverage is heavy and flight have to go in clouds in such way formation get very close to be in visual contact and leader lead the flight trough clouds. It is one example. You can imagine more scenarios. It could make Commander Career missions more interactive, historically authentic and tactically consistent.USAF_Fighter_Bomber_Formations_Korea_Historical_Reference.pdf Thank you for considering as further improvement for development.
