SRS for IL-2 Community Edition – Multiplayer Radio for Korea & Great Battles

Hi everyone,

I would like to introduce SRS for IL-2 Community Edition, a free and open-source multiplayer radio application for IL-2 Korea and IL-2 Sturmovik: Great Battles.

SRS provides dedicated radio communications with separate channels, Push-to-Talk controls, radio effects and compact in-game overlays. It automatically receives aircraft, coalition and server information from IL-2 when connected to an SRS-enabled multiplayer server.

Main features

• One SRS installation supports both IL-2 Korea and Great Battles

• Two independently controlled radios plus crew intercom
• Multiple configurable Push-to-Talk inputs

• Keyboard, joystick and HOTAS bindings
• Server-defined channel names
• Radio, connected-client and Pilot Roster overlays
• Microphone preview, device controls and mute functions
• Automatic updates and built-in telemetry diagnostics
• Compatibility assistance for IL2WinWing and other telemetry applications

The radio overlay provides quick access to both radios, crew intercom, channel controls, player counts and transmit/receive indicators. It can be resized, repositioned and adjusted for transparency.

For server administrators

The server component is included in the download. Server owners can configure coalition security, channel limits, names for all 25 channels, optional squad labels, realistic transmission behavior and receive-collision effects.

Servers can also provide Pilot Roster data, allowing players to see friendly pilots, assigned callsigns and their selected radio channels.

Installation

Only one copy of SRS is required, even if both IL-2 games are installed.

1. Close IL-2 before installing or updating SRS.
2. Download and run the auto-updater.
3. Install SRS in the recommended Program Files location, not inside either game folder.
4. Start SRS, select your microphone and speakers, and configure your Push-to-Talk controls.

For reliable overlays, use IL-2 in Windowed or Borderless mode. Normal Windows overlays cannot reliably remain visible over exclusive fullscreen applications.

SRS is community maintained and remains compatible with existing IL2-SRS servers and clients. Please report problems or suggestions through the support buttons on the application’s Help tab.

Why are SRS AI features not working in combat box Korea? 
 

Even in GB combat box things are not as good as they used to be… AI SRS used to callout enemy sightings, give updates about target conditions, etc…

 

nobody is even using SRS in Korea… this needs some series attention or it’s just going to fade away… need to have a compelling advantage over discord, beyond simple communication.

The SRS AI features in Great Battles is a feature of an independent radio bot, not SRS itself, and that still has to be ported over to Korea.
