Vulture Posted Monday at 11:58 PM Posted Monday at 11:58 PM There needs to be controls to raise and lower the pilot seat that work in VR. Pilots usually raise their seats on the ground to see better while taxiing, and often raise the seat for landing and takeoff. When the gunsight is needed, they lower their seat to get the best view over the nose. This will be even more important when the carrier planes come online, as the pilot seats in the F4U and F9F were always raised a LOT for takeoffs and landings. Ideally, the default seat position on the ground at startup should be high (canopy open). In the air, it should default to a lower (canopy closed) position. Vulture 3
Voxman Posted Tuesday at 01:35 AM Posted Tuesday at 01:35 AM (edited) If I want to see above the gunsight, I usually duck down a little and hit my reset view button. Then when I'm up in the air, I hit the reset view button again. Kind of a kluge method, but works for me. Edited Tuesday at 01:36 AM by Voxman Computer: AMD 7800x3D, Nvidia 5070Ti, 64Gb DDR5-6000. Husar Posted Tuesday at 06:32 AM Posted Tuesday at 06:32 AM It would be good to be able to raise and lower the pilot's seat without changing the camera view.
BoeingVertol Posted Tuesday at 07:07 AM Posted Tuesday at 07:07 AM Needs to happen, even served with some really short pilots that would use a boosting seat cushion to elevate their eye level in the cockpit.
Dash,Polder Posted Tuesday at 07:07 PM Posted Tuesday at 07:07 PM My work around is on the ground with canopy open I bow my head looking at the seat pan and hit the view center button, and when I raise it I'm centered at the maximum height for taxi and can see out front really great. On take off roll I'll leave the canopy open till accelerating down the runway, and when it closes it pushes me automatically down a bit, once airborne and leveling out I normalize by recentering back on the gun sight. You can do the inverse on landing on final approach when slow enough to open the canopy.
