Please explain what action 'Servies: Change ingame map mode' is supposed to do.

Please explain what action 'Services:  Change ingame map mode' is supposed to do.

I am getting quite confused dealing with that in conjunction with these two ... 

Services: Show/hide instrument panel, navigation and map markers – S/H aids Mini Maps?

Services: Show/hide entire HUD – S/H HUD

It changes the size of the map on lower difficulty levels.
