Viking1 Posted August 15 Posted August 15 (edited) I spent two hours rerunning a batch of tests using AMD Adrenalin utility in KOREA. Set up a flight to an airfield strike in the F51 and flew the same scenario a bunch of times. Always took the fps and gpu measurement at the same distance from the airfield. All tests in UHD on 9070XT. I ran these tests : FSR on Quality with FSR AA - 75fps FSR OFF with FSR AA - 60 fps No FSR with MSAAx2 - 55 fps (looks as good as 8x when running UHD) My interest was not in max fps, but rather max ground quality with playable frames. The results show that on my system I can use either No FSR w FSR AA or no FSR with MSAAx2. The visual results hardly vary at all with the last two, but GPU goes up with FSR off and FSR AA on. I then clicked SHARPEN option and ground detail from a distance was just slightly refined. Here are some close cropped images. Edited August 18 by Viking1

Viking1 Posted August 15 Author Posted August 15 (edited) See above for the result with MSAA x2 Edited August 18 by Viking1

Does your test confirms that - upscaling FSR : OFF - antialiasing FSR AA is a good choice for best fps in cpu bottlenecks? Or i got it wrong ? 2. You discovered that FSR upscale OFF improves fps ? (As in "GPU use and fps go up dramatically with FSR off and FSR AA on.") Because in a gpu limitation, the fps should go up with fsr on, not off, as it did in your test, with 15 +. 3. What cpu do you have? 4. The fps were left uncapped in Adrenaline right ? 5. In the 3 tests, do you know how was the 99th% lows ? Thank you, @Viking1, this is a very, very useful thread/test 1
AndreiTomescu Posted August 18 Posted August 18 I would love to crank up a bit the visual settings, but only those impacting the gpu, not the cpu . And despite some searching, I dunno precisely what are those cpu bound. @LukeFF: an official info regarding what setting impacts cpu/gpu and how much each would be very useful, and could solve many mysterys here. Like a table, chart, something. We had that done in the old forum, sort of. 1

AndreiTomescu Posted August 18 Posted August 18 the 99th % fps are very close to fps, but i think that huge L3 cache from the x3D processor has a hand in this 🙂 The 9070xt i find very, very powerful, my itsy bitsy fps drop is cpu bound. But just in career. In scripted campaign, none, smooth as butter. But @Jaegermeisteralready explained why: in his campaign, the ground assets are activated only upon player approach. In career, they are always active. Thank you very much! Still , a chart with graphic options and their impact on CPU/GPU might be very useful, imho. I'm sure the devs might help us with this.
