I had no idea there was an official TS channel.  I will add it to my TS3 bookmarks.

The old 1946 campaigns on Hyperlobby were a blast.  As for IL2 Korea, I played it online a little bit and was frustrated.  Then I bit the bullet and installed Discord (Prefer TS) and logged into the Combat Box Discord server.  Night and Day difference.  The experience with communication and coordination was like playing a different game completely. Been having an absolute blast ever since.  I've convinced a few of my old buddies to do the same as well.  This game is ready made for an online campaign.  Korea being more or less linear north to south really makes a campaign run well.

This thread has convinced me I should dip my toes back in. I haven't heard "Teamspeak" in what feels like years, but seeing Kali and EAW mentioned was an even bigger nostalgia hit, probably been close to 2 decades since I've heard either mentioned!

Is the current state-of-the-art still Discord for voice comms? Glad there's an official TS but I begrudgingly would rather go where the people communicating are, even though I'm incredibly resistant to joining yet-another-discord server.

I jumped on Combat Box for a short time this afternoon.  I probably should have picked a better time.  The in game chat was one vulching warning after another.  When I spawned in a  Mustang some nutter made a low high speed pass in a 51 and almost took out the whole row of planes warming up on the ramp,  I get collided with while taking off (my fault no doubt).  Once I got airborne my intent was to attack a DPRK facility up the coast.  I was staying low to try to not draw the attention of the Migs in the stratosphere, to no avail.  I never heard or saw it, I just exploded...  At that point I left the server.  I was on IL2 Teamspeak, but I was alone there.  I tried to set up SRS, and it apparently didn't work, I don't understand it.  No console for it no controls, that I could see, I DL'd it twice but couldn't figure it out.

A disappointing and perplexing start.

Airfields do not show nearby enemy planes on the map, unlike in GB. IMHO, that was not a good change. Vulching, or getting bounced shortly after takeoff, is a real issue on servers, despite the 5 km no-vulching zone.

In a world of change, it's comforting to know that some things don't.

I cannot recommend multi player enough with one caveat.  Get on Comms on the server.  It makes all the difference in the world.  Combat box discord is good.  Just randomly join and jump into a channel and say high.  I've have great multi hour flights with organization and teamwork and had a blast.  The human interaction is what makes multiplayer so much better

Do I need an invite to the CB discord?   I tried the SRS thing, and it's a wasteland, no one there.
