A new Dev Blog, #84, is here!

We take a look at the key changes that set Korea apart from Great Battles and the work completed over its four years of development.

You’ll also find a special video showcasing the new features, exclusive footage of a real MiG-15UTI in flight, feedback from one of its pilots, and a little information about the next expansion.

Read and watch here: https://media.il2-korea.com/news/dd_84

The sun doesn't agree with you. I, as a human, though, think you should be proud of the improvements 👍

Man, no need to try to sell us the game. We already bought it 😉.

Tell us about the DLC planes we paid for over half a year ago. All this teasing is getting old.

I think that half a hear ago you could only buy the Premium edition (not the Deluxe one) and now the DLC is included in the Deluxe edition, so you'll have to buy the DLC if you have the Premium.

Update - sorry my mistake, we bought the Founder's edition and it must include the DLC!

It would be nice to get riverbeds, currently whatever textures are on land continue under the water so you can see the farmland textures under water which kind of ruins all the work on the rivers/streams.

  • A viewer tool for user-created models.

I wonder if this refers to user-created skins on models?

Otherwise this would imply that the tool will be useable for player imported models (similar to the 3rd party models in the Rise of Flight days).

Speaking of which - are there still plans to develop specification documents for 3rd party modellers?

I'd suggest that people (and cats) create/edit their posts in the wishlist thread (or start a new thread in the suggestions subforum):

https://forum.il2-series.com/topic/3654-the-wishlist-thread/

That way we can keep this thread focussed on the news.

Sorry, just saw the thing about rivers and their work on them which drove me to comment here. I did put it as a bug, because at first it seemed limited but since that report I've noticed it across the map. But yeah, I'll put those thoughts into the wishlist forum next time.

This blog is a bit strange, because as someone else mentioned, we already have the simulator  (unless it's dedicated to new users like I think), and we've had it since EA, and honestly, some of the things mentioned here have been reported by players as things that need improvement (including lighting, bugs related to night lighting, and so on). Many of these issues, let's be honest, are repeats or developments from the IL-2GB. As for the career, what if I don't want to be a commander but want to fly as a wingman in the career and climb the ranks? 🙂 That would also be worth adding. Unfortunately, there's nothing about performance issues. The menu in VR also moves with the user's head, instead of being stationary like in every game. It's still a very advanced game, but EA. Of course, I'm keeping my fingers crossed and I hope that you will take into account the players' voices, and I'm also waiting for the next patches 👍. Best regards.

Placed my thoughts in the wishlist thread. You can delete my posts and references to it in this thread to clean it up. I would do it, but can only edit to remove the words but not the posts.

"Improved HDR effect" is listed as an achievement but it seems much worse than BoX. Has something been done since the last hotfix?

I think one of the motivations is to list features which have been accomplished.  There are a bunch of features, for example flooded rice paddies, which they have been working on but don't want to promise prior to actually completing the technology. So this development update will likely have additional features listed that weren't there in some of the pervious updates.

Having played the game from the beginning, I know that the list is not just lip service. This game is a masterpiece in the making. The only thing I don't seem to get is this mission builder you claim to have. Are you talking about the Task Editor?

Agree.  Despite some work left, Korea is a clear next step compared to BoX.

In many aspects.

I‘d rather prefer to polish the actual state ( content wisen) and wait somewhat for additional DLCs. Never mind having paid for already. But that’s probably a matter of taste.

  • When looking around without TrackIR or VR, the virtual head shifts when the view is turned more than 90° to the side.

Please implemented this also for TrackIR, now when you look as far back as possible, you need to move your head left or right toward the outer edge of the canopy.

HDR looks fine to me, I asked what was wrong with it when the complaint was posted but no response.

I have both Windows 11 HDR on because I have an HDR monitor and the in-game HDR which is a different feature but both are working fine... other than the sunset/sunrise may be a bit too big on the horizon.

4080Super with latest drivers. Ultra settings, grass set to distant everything else maxed, FSR as that is the best performing and looking.

HDR on my screen taken from my mobile so its actually what I see, looks good to me:

Korea is leaps and bounds better than GB in several fronts. Definitely the direction the franchise needed to move on. Congratulations to the entire team!

We all know there are some additional things to iron out (everyone has their shortlist of things they want to see fixed/added), but it's good to pause and reflect on the massive progress delivered by the devs.

UTILITIES

Faster loading of the Mission Editor.

An optimized object-selection system in the editor.

New, more readable fonts in the editor.

Personally, i find it that the Editor takes much longer to load, and dont know what the other two bullets are referring to. Anyone?

What I HAVE noteiced is that the editor does not crash anymore, which is a HUGE improvement from GB. Thank you veery much!!!

It feels to me that this is a response to the Steam reviews and discussions more than anything. I've had some wild discussions there, for example, where one person claimed that there were zero improvements to the game engine or planes.

Would not surprise me if they were just launching GB and not realizing Korea is a separate game.

Or just trolling like that fellow that judged GB's realism solely from YouTube videos and wrote up a whole thesis on how it isn't realistic... coming from WarThunder...

A mind-blowing coordination of developmental skill and artistic creativity. The devs deserve to be monumentally proud of what they have achieved.

HDR looks great on my monitor in Korea. Better than it did in Great Battles.

What's wrong is that they use the Windows print screen function for taking in game pictures. That compresses all the brightness values into the center of the histogram washing out the image if you're running both Win HDR and game HDR. I would guess that's why you posted a cell phone pic of your monitor.

I posted a mobile picture as they also posted a mobile picture.

But the washed out effect was fixed a patch or two ago.
