Il-2 Series External Graphics Configurator

Hi everyone!

A few weeks ago I started a project to have an external graphics options manager for the IL-2 series. Here is the result:

 

This program reads the startup file and lets you modify it before launching the game.

Additionally, it allows you to create up to 3 presets. This will come handy for VR users!

Wanna share your findings and help others to set up the game? you can also import/export your current settings to share with friends and community members! And then save them as a preset!

 

For now, it reads the "raw" options without translation. In the future, I'll add the same text used in-game, along with other features.

I take no responsibility for crashes or any issues! Only tweak what you know!

There are two types of json files here:

Presets are saved in the same location as this exectuable in a json format. You can see them if you open them with notepad or another text editor.
Imported / Exported files can be saved/loaded into any location. Again as json format. Share these ones!

Be a nice feature to have an option for ability to save and store as a back up a default brand new stock file.   Than one can reset and start from a new file should it ever somehow get corrupted.  

Works great, could probably use explanations or definitions for what some of these settings do and are for new players.

You can already save your config as a preset and name it "back up" it will load anytime you want.

For more text, as written above "For now, it reads the "raw" options without translation. In the future, I'll add the same text used in-game, along with other features." 😄

Once I have time to finish it and give it some tooltips it will be even more useful! 🙂

If only the developers could let us tweak the values...

In example, the LOD of the terrain has been always, imho, the biggest problem in IL-2 series graphics. Even with present day 5090 GPU´s and with the fastest CPUs available, the blurred limit of the terrain is too obvious and very close to the aircraft. The tool is nice, great for VR and 2D profiles, but with the possibility of the real tweak of the values, will be amazingly useful.

Fixed a bug with VR.

Now it says Virtual Reality Mode

The "Startup.cfg" path is not persistent i.e - I have to slect it each time I open the configurator.

Would it be possible to add descriptions for each setting, maybe when hovering the mouse over it ?

Thanks Wotan! added to the to-do list.

Right now, the program will point to my Startup.cfg. 

Will update later so the user can set up a standard location for them 🙂 As for tool tips! it will take some time.

@LuftManu Is there a way to reduce the quality of the trees? They cause severe lags.
