ColoniaLibre Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Hello there! I would like to share a suggestion regarding the cockpit sound design to improve situational awareness and feedback. Description: IL-2 Korea implements many complex aircraft systems that players control via keyboard, HOTAS, or other input devices. To improve feedback when a system is toggled, the sound effect of the switch could differ slightly in pitch depending on the action. When turning a system ON, the switch sound could have a slightly higher pitch. When turning the same system OFF, the sound could have a slightly lower/deeper pitch. This would be an excellent addition for 2-way switches with only two states (on/off). Multi-state switches would not need to be affected by this. To make implementation quick and cost-effective, the dev team wouldn't need to record new assets — simply adjusting the playback pitch of the existing "switch off" sound file would do the trick! Benefit: Players would receive much better acoustic feedback. In real aircraft, a pilot can physically feel the position and resistance of a switch. Since we lack haptic feedback in a simulation, audio feedbacks are vital. With distinct sounds for ON and OFF, players wouldn't constantly need to look down at the cockpit dashboard or gauges to verify a switch's state. This would be a massive quality-of-life improvement, especially during intense dogfights where every second your eyes are off the target can be fatal. 🙂 It would be great if the team could discuss this idea for a future update. 🙂 Thank you very much for your time!
