Gunfreak Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Even when behind an aircraft flying straight. I'm behind it. Wingspan and distance dieled in. I fire and shells miss. I've tried with gun convergence as low as 200 meters and as high as 400 meters
86Cheese Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Well what is your target distance set to? Thats what you should be more worried about, convergence isn't really the problem here. If your target size and distance aren't set correctly, you are going to miss. Convergence isn't going to change that.
AndreiTomescu Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Ha! Me neither. Can't It's actually like a shotgun. Nam-chang-pang, the famous N Korean deserter, stated in his book that the max functional range for the mighty Mig guns was 300 meters. Well....at 100 meters, maybe.... The shells are bursting very .....divergent, but this is imho accurate, because: - the cannons are very powerful, with high recoil - the cadence, the rate of fire of those guns is different - the cannons are not centerlined - firing the first shots does wobble the nose - if I come mighty fast and put some rudder correction, I'll be slipping nicely - from hitting the firebutton and until actually firing there is a small delay - their intended target was quite large... 🙂

While is why i set the convergence to 200 the first time. And even then the the shells go all over the place. 1
AndreiTomescu Posted August 9 Posted August 9 Maybe there's a little guy in the Mig's nose that is throwning those hand grenades.....by hand! 😂😂😂 From min convergence, like 150-180 meters, and I still sometimes miss even a quite stable target. But if one round hits the enemy, he's doomed. The shooting arc is also an issue for me. The drop, I mean. I have the impression that the heavy ammo has a huge drop. Tried setting convergence to max. Nope, it's worse. In that case, I really miss everything!
FuriousMeow Posted August 9 Posted August 9 I was practicing with the MiG-15 last night and found I actually had better aim with the 37mm over the 2 x NS 23mms. Didn't try the NR23 mod, apparently that almost doubles the rate of fire. Seemed like the Sabres were flying between every round of the 23s.
