Remontti Posted August 8 Posted August 8 It's kind of confusing when you arrive at target area and then someone say "Red flight engage ground targets on your own". Now I assume that someone is actually me when I'm the leader and it is just automated function. But it feels very odd that you're leading a flight but don't get to do the decisions. Other thing is that your flight could tell in the radio when they decide to do something or spot something. In a campaign mission I got bit lost and flew past the target area. I got my bearings and turned around only to discover that the 2. flight I was leading had broken off earlier and were already orbiting the target area.
Valis Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Thread about it here. I was confused at first, I didn't know there was an FAC doing the ordering, but the point about the lack of control is still valid.
Redeye Posted August 8 Posted August 8 Well you can ask your group to report ground targets and they will report every ground target that is around you. Problem is to get them to shut up. There is a commands to stop reporting but that doesn’t seem to work. You can also ask them to report air targets but haven’t used that one. I believe it’s all under the ‘report’ categorie (not behind my pc).
JL1 Posted August 8 Posted August 8 This auto order giving should be a selectable on/off option. I would rather turn it off but I can understand why some may like it. 2 CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D 8-Core Processor GPU: RTX 5090 RAM: 96 Gb DDR5 SSD: WD Black 4TB SSD & WD Black 8TB SSD Monitor: LG 48-Inch OLED evo C4 Series Smart TV 4K HOTAS - Virpil Trackir 5

Yes, absolutely! 2 hours ago, Redeye said: Well you can ask your group to report ground targets and they will report every ground target that is around you. Problem is to get them to shut up. But still I want them to say something if they go out of formation rather than notice 10 minutes later that half of the group is not with me anymore.

I agree completely, radio communication can be massively improved. But for now we have to be aware of the limitiations and work with it. Right now a lot of commands here work the same way as in GB. The AI works best if you leave it alone mostly especialy for attacking the objective. And also give them time, the AI never responds instantly but will eventually just like in GB even if you give them alternate attack commands. The always first set themselves up to attack but that might mean that they circle all the way around the target.

That radio message is an indication that you have triggered an attack area command and your flight has been given permission to attack targets. It is the same concept as when the flight is told to search for air targets. It is the way the game works, and if the attack command was not initiated, your wingmen would do nothing without you telling them to through the comms menu. You can't order them to attack if you are not the flight leader, but the mission still has to work, so automatic attack commands are given.
