I've been making a mission in the editor and I've placed a translator subtitle on one of the waypoint MCUs. I have an older mission with a subtitle targeted to a waypoint and it works. I can not get the text to show up in game on the new mission, it's just a very simple ships destroyed message. I have tried deleting the cache file and re writing to no avail, I have checked that the text is in the eng file and all my hud settings are the same for each mission. I have copied the working subtitle set up exactly to the new mission, tried different true/false set ups in the advanced properties. I've tried setting up a check zone to trigger it but that didn't work. The game and the editor are both on the same drive. I have searched for answers to this for the last couple of days and I've tried everything but I can't get it to work. Is there something blatantly obvious that I've missed?

Set up a link to the mission so we can have a look and suggest a solution.

Try it inserting a timer with delay of 2 or 3s between the waypoint MCU and the Translator subtitle. And remember assign a sufficient radius in the waypoint in order to activate it.

Also sometimes fail to me when use the check zone trigger, i prefer use some other MCU as waypoint or counter ... etc, with the 2-3s timer delay.

I think these are the right files, single player mission. I've just tried making another quick mission and the subtitle works, there is something wrong with this mission.  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1IYRaBgfQ9F8s7U6zRNYOKdpwrZclT0bF/view?usp=drive_link

I've tried this and it wont work. The subtitle works in other missions, I've just tried it out again. There must be something wrong with this mission, I might have to start all over again. Thanks

Have you set advanced properties for the subtitle? There are some things you'll need to set. In the coalition section, make sure it is set for "true" for your coalition (axis or allies) or it won't display.

Oops, I see you tried this already.

Kind of stumped.

I couldn't download the mission to check it out.

Are you sure that the object connected to the subtitle actually reaches the waypoint?

As someone else suggested, make sure the waypoint radius isn't too large or even too small?

How about using the "clear and renumerate" language files under "tools" in the editor?

Yes the object does reach the waypoint, I've tried different waypoint radius and it still doesn't work. I think I'm just going to recreate the mission and make sure from the start that the subtitles are working. I'll try the clear and renumerate first though like you said ... thanks for the help

Hope you figure it out. The editor is powerful but complex and finicky sometimes.

I've finally found out what is causing the problem, it's the command effect MCUs and effects like city fire etc. I started a new mission from scratch and put a subtitle in, it worked. I started to build the mission up and added some command effect loops, the normal smoke effects don't last long enough. I tried the mission and the subtitles didn't appear. I deleted the command effects and saved and played the mission, the subtitles worked. I deleted the command effects from the original mission and the subtitles appeared. I don't know why it's happening but at least I've sussed the problem.

Think I've cracked it. I tried a simple mission with both subtitles and effect commands but I used a check zone to trigger the effect and they both worked.

I never tried connecting effects to subtitles. Effects are kind of temperamental in that they sometimes lose their height setting and end up 10m up floating in the air. Glad you figured it out. Will you share the mission when you're ready?
