DetCord Posted August 6 Posted August 6 I'm trying to gauge performance with regards to Korea's MSAA anti-aliasing implementation. I understand that MSAA has a high overhead as it tends to eat frames, but it tanks my FPS like no other game out there, even in the museum where it sits at around 50+ at 8x. Thing is, I've seen people with far less powerful Nvidia GPU's running it maxed out without any issues while some of the guys I fly with are seeing similar performance related problems. Could be a us/me issue, drive issue, and it could also be the way it is implemented in Korea. 9800X3D OC/UV 5.5GHz | Kingston Fury 128GB 7500MT | ROG Strix B850F | Samsung 990Pro w/HS R7400 | ASR 9070XT OC/UV 3300MHz | Antec Flux Pro
Valis Posted August 6 Posted August 6 9070XT - I use 2x MSAA. Anything more just tanks FPS and it doesn't look any better.

I've seen people with 5070ti cards that have a much lower clock speed than the 9070 (XT/non XT) and aren't having any issues with the AA setting. 9800X3D OC/UV 5.5GHz | Kingston Fury 128GB 7500MT | ROG Strix B850F | Samsung 990Pro w/HS R7400 | ASR 9070XT OC/UV 3300MHz | Antec Flux Pro

R3animate Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I just filed a bug report because the museum doesn't seem to respect your FSR settings/AA settings. Once in game I found performance much better. AMD 5800X3D / 9070XT / 32GB Arch / Win11 Pro VKB EVO+THQ+SEM+FSM

Once in game I found performance much better. If you're running FSR you're going to get better performance while the image quality will look decidedly worse, especially the AA. The issue seems to be related to AMD cards and MSAA overhead. Less powerful Nvidia GPU's aren't having this issue, even at higher native resolutions. 52 minutes ago, Kaenzdhi said: rx 7800 xt Why MSAA ? you should try FSR AA, way better for me (graphics & performance). FSR's AA implementation is fairly awful at present. It creates edge ghosting and a very noticeable staircase effect on almost everything that doesn't have complex geometry. Like a wing, or flap, or vert stab, or rudder, or... Now, FSR AA is perfectly fine if you're playing an FPS/TPS or something similar due to what and how was modeled, but its use in a flight sim is questionable at best. 9800X3D OC/UV 5.5GHz | Kingston Fury 128GB 7500MT | ROG Strix B850F | Samsung 990Pro w/HS R7400 | ASR 9070XT OC/UV 3300MHz | Antec Flux Pro
ArgonV Posted August 7 Posted August 7 AMD 7900XTX here. 140ish FPS in the Museum at 3840X1600 using FSR AA, and Indirect Lighting turned off.

I average around 160-180FPS with FSR AA but this is specifically related to MSAA, not FSR. 9800X3D OC/UV 5.5GHz | Kingston Fury 128GB 7500MT | ROG Strix B850F | Samsung 990Pro w/HS R7400 | ASR 9070XT OC/UV 3300MHz | Antec Flux Pro

Not need, I just wanted to say that I was getting very good results with FRS AA, and I just did another test and in fact I have a better image with FSR AA than with MSAA 8X (image is more smooth, less aliasing) I play in 2K.
JG14_Jagr Posted August 7 Posted August 7 I just switched from an nVidia 3070 to the 9070XT and using MS AA 2X it looks pretty amazing. What settings are people using in the Adrenaline app for this? I'm guessing the FSR implementation isn't working or not implemented because Adrenaline reports it as not compatible?

The only thing I use in Adrenaline is the FPS limiter ('Chill' something).
JollyJack Posted August 8 Posted August 8 (edited) https://tecnobits.net/how-to-install-optiscaler/ I used optiscaler to get DLSS with FSR 4 levels for DCS with my 9070XT. A wee bit of a hassle to install it ... right now not anymore, because of that. ============================================= Installation for DCS: how to install Optiscaler for DCS and AMD Radeon to enable FSR 4 ------------------------------- Visual 2022 is needed download the latest optiscaler zip (0.7.9) from GitHub Unpack the zip content within the DCS game bin folder run the setup .bat file choose three times the [1] options. DLSS inputs is important. go to system 32 and copy the (most recent) AMDXCFX64.dll driver into your DCS bin folder run the registry file EnableSignatureOverride.reg from the DLSS Overrides folder find the optiscaler.dll file and rename it to DXGI.dll Done. If you run in to installing errors you could use TakeOwnership (downloadable reg file) on the DCS bin folder. --------------------------------------------- ON WIDOWS 10: FSR4 PotatoOfDoom added experimental support for updating the DirectX 12 Agility SDK which should help games crashing on Windows 10 with FSR4. Set FsrAgilitySDKUpgrade=true in OptiScaler.ini (make sure you have copied the D3D12_Optiscaler folder from the OptiScaler archive into the game folder). Edited August 8 by JollyJack
