Airfield Defense - Can't Assign Group

In Career Mode, I have a pop-up Airfield Defense Mission

...but when I go to FLIGHT PLANNING I can't assign a group; everything is greyed out.

I also can't return to the main menu - I can either ignore or go to flight planning, but I don't see a way to get away from this screen except (probably) to ignore the mission, which seems unwise.

You have to have a duty flight assigned beforehand for this mission type. The idea is that they are on standby, ready to scramble at short notice. If you have no such flight available, yep, there are consequences. 🙂

@LukeFF I'd suggest changing the text of the popup to explicitly mention that.

Instead of 'No group has been assigned to complete the mission', have something like:

'No standby group was assigned, so no one can scramble to intercept the attackers.'

Also, I'd suggest simply making the flight planning button unavailable, since there is nothing to flight plan.

For all the drama these missions seem to throw at you, it's going to confuse and annoy new players that they can't actually fly in them. I know it did me.

Was that explained in game somewhere and I missed it?

Thank you. Also if there was a way to dismiss that popup and get back to the main menu, it would be helpful.
