Hi folks,

I realize this may be an unusual question, as well as something far from the intended purpose and benefits of the Delanclip and head tracking.

But I wanted to see if I could just have my Delanclip act as a hat switch just like the hat switch on the joystick. My reason is this setup would still free up my brain for views as opposed to using the hat switch but not require me to deal with all the changes and setups with 6DOF and gun sight stability. (Just my preference by the way, not saying the head tracking option is bad or difficult, just not my preference.)

Has anyone ever tried something like that?

I tried to research some things on the internet and also use Chat GPT.

I am still working thru it. The approach started off by changing the output in OpenTrack to Virtual Joystick (vjoy) but ran into some snags.

Another approach included trying to use Joystick Gremlin. That didn't work so the AI's path was DelanClip > OpenTrack (UDP over network output) > A Windows Power Script .cmd file > that I believe would emulate Numpad commands > finally IL2 GB

This looked promising but in IL2 GB the game was not moving the view, so AI came back with the idea that it could build a small Windows executable in C# to handle this. Its confidence level was 90-95% with the Windows executable.

This sounded like a bit much so I thought I would post here and ask for a sanity check. I might just go back to the hat switch.

Any advice is appreciated. I am not overly technical.

Why can't you just disable the other axis you don't want?

The OG TrackIr only did x and y - like a hat switch - and pretty sure the latest 6dof model can be setup that way as well. So it should be possible to go back to that with Delanclip too I'd think without all these extra steps.

  • оставить только поворот головы по горизонтали и вертикали;
  • отключить позиционные оси: вперёд/назад, влево/вправо, вверх/вниз;

  • Yaw — поворот влево/вправо;
  • Pitch — вверх/вниз;

  • поставить малые углы поворота;
  • сделать мёртвую зону по центру;
  • ограничить движение до нескольких направлений;

Hi @FuriousMeow

I actually didn't even think of that. Good idea.

Let me try to play with that. Thank you!!

@gfdtk62

I really appreciate you taking the time to list that all out. Cheers.
