Report status radio command

In my career we were attacking trains and vehicle columns with Sabres. No aa and no Migs present. Two Sabres crashed to the ground during attack. I thought it sure would be nice if there was a way to do a head count.

 

Oh! There is a Report status radio command for entire group. Nice.

 

But the answer was 'Red flight, we have troubles".

 

What's the point? That doesn't actually tell me anything.
