Deacon352nd Posted July 28 Posted July 28 A couple of weeks ago kraut1 and I were discussing how to extend the map so that I could attempt to make a new airfield at Bodney, England for my group the 352nd FG. He sent me a mod to try and it worked fairly well so that I was able to make a new airfield from a copy of actual blueprints of the WWII airfield used by the 352nd. Unfortunately I couldn’t put it in the correct geographic location due to the low textured area it would belong. But it was fine. Then I got the idea to extend the map a couple of hundred km and modified kraut1’s mod and was able extend it east of Amsterdam. It now allows me to start AI bombers in these areas and head west for the 352nd human pilots to rendezvous and also have these bombers be attacked by enemy planes enroute to the rendezvous. The problem now is that when trying to spawn in, the map displays any airfields I’ve selected to have spawnable planes no where near where they should be geographically. In fact Bodney is now located mid-Channel. If you select them, you are in the correct airfields and on the ground as normal and you can fly in any direction and have all the correct textures below you. It’s just that the map overlays the actual textures incorrectly. The spawn points, cities, rivers, roads, mountains, hills, and everything is correct, just the map showing them is misplaced. In fact if you reach the border limit of my extension, you will be turned around in your plane as you would in the vanilla version of the sim. Any suggestions for correction of the map problem? 1 1
kraut1 Posted July 30 Posted July 30 (edited) Hi, I made a test, not successfull, sorry , and now my time is exhausted, I have to start to work😁: I assumed the issue was caused because the lables are outside of the area of the existing mapstiles. My test: ONLY the summer map changed: Extension only to east to reduce the number of new (dummy) mapstiles, only 1 detail level to reduce the number of dummy mapstiles.: For test only 1 folder with mapstiles ("level") Dummy mapstiles: But with this mod there was still a misalignment deviation between gui map and terrain / see Dunkirchen My last idea: there are some origins defined in the settings files, maybe you modify them to align both views... HEre the link to the test with the additional mapstiles: https://www.mediafire.com/file/eh9hawvx1os6dkn/normandy-map-limits-vbtest.zip/file I wish you much success!🙂 Edited August 2 by kraut1 1
