Makler Posted July 28 Posted July 28 This happens only on the P38. I was flying fine and then one time I took off the stick just didn't stop shaking. This makes the P38 unflyable but fortunately doesn't happen on any other plane I tested. I use Moza AB9 and to be clear this is not a Moza telemetry effect.
Woadieee Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I'm having the same issue, but with a Moza AB6. Completely unflyable, seems to be as you say, ground effect (which is too strong as it is, same in Korea) remains on after takeoff. No issues with any other plane. Hope to see this fixed! I've just bought the P38J-25 and am excited to fly it.
SYN_Mugue Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) I'm not convinced there is a problem with the P-38. I fly that plane all the time and this never happens. As you say the stick shake of the ground roll is on the extreme side and not that well tuned, imho. But if you are just using direct input for the ffb, then I can only think of two conditions that would make the shake continue into the air. Leaving your wheels down or going so slow that you've entered stall buffet...Or maybe the dive recovery flaps had gotten deployed inadvertently? Using telemetry opens a can of worms, and the many combinations of settings could have strange effects/interactions with the game ffb...but I haven't encountered anything like what you guys describe. But if I had this problem, I'd start from scratch and build a new profile adding one effect at a time until you locate the trouble. Tedious and time consuming, but that's the life of a flightsimmer. 🙂 For clarity, I'm using an AB9 in both direct and integrated input modes. Zero problems. I'd recheck your Moza settings and focus on airmanship. Everyone eventually has the experience of forgetting to raise/lower the gear. Cheers, M. Edited August 3 by SYN_Mugue
Woadieee Posted August 3 Posted August 3 (edited) I appreciate it, but the gear were up. Speed is fine. Going to test with a fresh preset as you suggested. Thanks again. Edited August 3 by Woadieee
SYN_Mugue Posted August 3 Posted August 3 Hope you find a solution. And sorry it wasn't the easy fix of pilot error.
Bulldog Posted August 3 Posted August 3 I fly the P-38 with the Sidewinder 2 and no issues. Something with the AB9 perhaps? BD
SYN_Mugue Posted August 3 Posted August 3 45 minutes ago, Bulldog said: I fly the P-38 with the Sidewinder 2 and no issues. Something with the AB9 perhaps? BD I agree. I have used both a Sidewinder2 and an Logitec G940 extensively without issues of this sort. I think the Moza software is the likely source of the issue, as it gives much greater control of the sticks basic parameters. In addition it can add in telemetry effects, and or generate it's own ffb effects(for games that don't support ffb). Also it can create individual profiles per game and per aircraft. So there is a great potential for making a screwy profile. The fact that the Moza documentation is not very good, or at best not nearly complete, isn't helping. Their Discord is, well..., Discord. 😕 So almost no help there. (I hate Discord as a place to find any actual information) Personally I'm finding the AB9 to be a solid piece of kit that I'm enjoying quite a bit. It just has it's own learning curve to deal with, in addition to the games and individual plane quirks... Cheers, M. 1
Woadieee Posted August 4 Posted August 4 After testing with a fresh Moza install, blank presets, I CAN confirm it's not a simple "fix" or user error. I wouldn't have expected such fierce resistance against a bug report. Reminds me why I stay away from communities such as this. For good measure I have recorded video of the issue and have sent the information to Moza as well. I feel like it's not completely unreasonable to want the problem checked on both ends. Just because everything works great for you doesn't mean there isn't some strange issue going on. It does a disservice to any actual investigation into the problem when people shoot down your ideas/problems immediately without any actual skin in the game. Regardless, the fact that all the other planes work out of the box but the P38 does not (FOR SOME) is cause for concern.

People are telling you that they don't have the same issue and are trying to pinpoint where the problem might be. I don't understand why you consider this negative behavior. Ultimately, it is a fact that there is very little that could be misconfigured, or different on the IL-2 side. We all play the same version of the game, and there isn't any way to make any real changes to the FFB in the game. So it is very unlikely that there is a problem on this front on the IL-2 side, where it works for some, but not for others. There is also pretty much no investigation that can be done on the IL-2 side (because we can't experiment with changing the settings or such, because those do not exist). In contrast, it is very plausible that you run a different version of the Moza software and/or firmware compared to the people who don't have issues, as Moza doesn't force you on the latest software/firmware. It is also true that Moza has a lot of bugs in their software. The Moza software can also be configured in a variety of ways, which provides another potential reason for differences in behavior. So I think that it is just common sense to focus on the Moza side, because for me it's just rational to believe that the problem is almost certainly on that side. Quote After testing with a fresh Moza install, blank presets I would actually try with an older Moza version. You can also ask @SYN_Mugue what version of the Moza firmware and software he runs, and try that out, to figure out whether that is the reason. I'm personally probably not very helpful, since for now I'm still running a very old version with a specific custom config. 4 hours ago, Woadieee said: It does a disservice to any actual investigation into the problem when people shoot down your ideas/problems immediately without any actual skin in the game. I don't understand this comment, because the people who responded do own FFB bases and thus do have skin in the game. They are going out of their way to try to be helpful and in return you insinuate that they are nasty people. Also, I don't consider 'investigate everything,' much of an idea. Key to efficiently figuring out issues is to make an educated guess where the problem most likely lies and then methodically doing and investigation that determines whether that guess was right. Then based on the result you are either figured it out, or make a better educated guess, based on the new knowledge gathered from the previous investigation(s).
Art-J Posted August 5 Posted August 5 (edited) @Woadieee, since you are new to P-38 in this sim, I have to ask: do you close canopy side windows before takeoff and are you aware they will cause inflight vibrations if left open? Edited August 5 by Art-J
